By far one of my favorite jazz songs, and now I can play along. Thanks!
I Remember You
You're the one
Who made my dreams
Come true
A few kisses ago
I remember you
You're the one
Who said
I love you too
Didn't you know?
I remember too
A distant bell
And stars that fell
Like rain
Out of the blue
When my life is through
And the angels ask me
To recall
The thrill of them all
Then I shall tell them
I remember you
The earliest recordings of this tune use a dominant seventh chord a half step below the tonic with no minor seventh chord before it, E7 in the key of F major. This was common at the time when this tune was written and it is a likely substitute for a diminished on the tonic, Fdim7. Thus in a more straight ahead jazz setting a 2-5 with the note F in the chords, i.e. B-7b5 E7b9 would be appropriate. In a more modern setting an argument could be made for a Bm7 E7 with the note F# because along the way it became common to use Dorian sounds on all minor sevenths regardless of the fifth, but this is usually done to add color while the rhythm section plays a flatted fifth or vice versa. It adds a blue color to an otherwise common 2-5 sound.
Thank a lot :)@@barryo5158
