I agree with Armon. She has to be smarter how she picks her battles. She also has to find a genuine friend and a person that loves her and will protect her from herself.
This! Case in point, she kept trying to get into that party when she was off the list. Why didn't her friend who was co-chair of the party come to her defense? He invited her, but she was on the block list. How did this friend not see she was on the block list? Why didn't he come out and say she could attend?

She said this three time. Each time she tried to leave, someone told her to come back. Someone not affiliated with the people throwing the party. None of the planners tried to bring her in. They were actors waiting in line to get in just like she was. The person who invited her, Jesse Williams, had to have seen the block list and left her name on there.
Amanda showed us exactly who she is on Shannon’s show. She wants people to be held accountable, but doesn’t like to be held accountable. At some point she has to realize everyone else can’t be the problem.

I absolutely believe she wasn't protected by Issa's production. I think black women can have the same treatment in multiple spaces especially if they are strong and outspoken, so I don't think the problem has always been her...I just think she may be unique in a field that wants conformity and silence.
Maybe Issa doesn't like her. Maybe Issa had negative experiences with her. From the different accounts that came out back then, that was the case. The whole cast of the show seemed to have a problem with Amanda.

You clearly didnt watch the full interview with Shannon even in stories where she was sharing her experience she still gave props to the people who've been supportive. Although her n Shannon bumped heads in the beginning by the end they hugged. Hearing her story in full provided context. Shes very much misunderstood.

Yes there were sprinkles of her saying a few friends or her mom supported her but the rest of the full 3 hrs was full of tales of how everyone hates her or wrongs her from college to multiple employers to organizations to friends and boyfriends. It was completely off putting. And after hugging Shannon and asking him to come on her show then she's been on a smear campaign of how horrible he was and how bad the interview was ever sense. I just can't take ppl like her. Victim mentality and everyone else is always wrong.

Hosts, please do your homework! Watch the entire interview, she addressed every single question; the struggle with being misunderstood, autistic, constantly judged yet honest and authentic to the core. Sharpe did an excellent job, his responses were real and conversational. He allows his guests to tell their story instead of directing the conversation. A journalists would have limited Amanda.

Thank you! He came from a place of compassion and wanted her to focus on those who were meaningful in her life. That shows a care for someone's hurt and the art of focusing on those that truly mattered in her life. I think people will interpret this interview through their own filter I guess.
The crazy thing about it is in the interview.She really did not come for Issa Rae. Before she even started talking about that subject. She congratulated that lady and gave her her flowers. It was more of she felt that she could have help.Things becomes smoother in the situation that she was put in with Issa publicist.
She was working on Issas' show. Issa was supposed to look out for her. This woman helped that show stay on top until the end! Someone should have covered her.
When two employees argue at work, they tell you two to work it out. Issa doesn’t owe Amanda ANYTHING. But she was better than me because Issa tried, and Amanda and the publicist declined to talk. What else is Issa supposed to do for adults that don’t care for each other?!

By Issa Rae being the employer and because she was a friend to one of the parties, she should have gotten an independent investigator to handle the matter. Ultimately, it was her responsibility as the employer.

@@Dollsanitywow that is a ridiculous reason for not getting clinically diagnosed. After years of struggling, I realized I might have ADHD. I went on Headway found a psychiatrist, got assessed, and got my diagnosis. It was not expensive at all before or after insurance kicked in.
Armon is absolutely right. And I like Amanda and her activism and think she has good intentions. I think she just needs to learn to pick her battles more strategically. Not everything should be battle. Sometimes we have to adjust our perceptions of life experiences just a little bit in order to see things from different lenses and she lacks either the ability or desire to do that.

I agree with the last commenter on this one! I don’t follow her, but everytime she in the news she complaining about something. That has been her reputation for YEARS. And it’s interesting the first 2 so aggressively had her back, but a few weeks ago wanted to dog Kelly Rowland out and call her an diva over that dressing room incident. The difference is Kelly has been in industry 25+ years and prior to that we have NEVER heard anything negative about her behind the scenes. Amanda has some growing up to do. She lacks impulse control. She has the right to her feelings and opinions but no one is obligated to engage her when she has emotionally reactive public outbursts about things. The "keep it 100" mantra is often a veil for a lack of ability to regulate your emotions and curb your impulses to immediately emotionally react. The internet will applaud you and encourage you to crash out and burn bridges. But the reality is all of this will continue to hurt Amanda in the long run because her peers are seeing that if she ever feels a way, she will go out of her way to publicly ridicule them and tarnish their reputation. That's the reason people don't want to work with her. It's not her intellect. It's the fact that she lacks impulse control and the ability to regulate her emotions. Issa Rae is a darlin? Issa treats certain people nice and a complete B to others. I know from being within her group. I noticed it’s done when she feels threatened by the other person…it can be their beauty, power, or intellect. You could be complete a stranger or acquaintance….she will do it. I would ask Amanda does she believe she is self-aware. Does she consider that how she views herself may not be others experience. I used to like Amanda but after awhile it became clear that she only speaks on the negative side of EVERYTHING. I very rarely hear her talk about anything positive in society. Maybe I don't hear enough. It became too much for me when she spoke negatively about the King Richard movie on Venus & Serena's Dad. As soon as the movie was announced she jumped on IG and complained and asked why were they making a movie about the Father. She said those girls should be the first to have a movie made about them. What Amanda didn't know and maybe she would've learned had she done the research is that the girls WANTED to make the movie to honor their Father and were the Executive Producers on the movie. I know it's small but for me that's Amanda. Always jumping out to speak on the negative and she just lacks balance in her view of the world. With all that intelligence get some Emotional Intelligence!

Yes there were sprinkles of her saying a few friends or her mom supported her but the rest of the full 3 hrs was full of tales of how everyone hates her or wrongs her from college to multiple employers to organizations to friends and boyfriends. Watch the entire interview, she addressed every single question; the struggle with being misunderstood, autistic, constantly judged yet honest and authentic to the core. Sharpe did an excellent job, his responses were real and conversational. He allows his guests to tell their story instead of directing the conversation. A journalists would have limited Amanda.

Not everything should be battle. Im with Armon. Amanda may not be a "mean girl". I don't know here. However, she does come off to me as being difficult. Like the type that is cool to hang out with but there's always something on with her. I used to like Amanda but after awhile it became clear that she only speaks on the negative side of EVERYTHING. I very rarely hear her talk about anything positive in society. Maybe I don't hear enough.
It became too much for me when she spoke negatively about the King Richard movie on Venus & Serena's Dad. As soon as the movie was announced she jumped on IG and complained and asked why were they making a movie about the Father. She said those girls should be the first to have a movie made about them. What Amanda didn't know and maybe she would've learned had she done the research is that the girls WANTED to make the movie to honor their Father and were the Executive Producers on the movie.
I know it's small but for me that's Amanda. Always jumping out to speak on the negative and she just lacks balance in her view of the world.
With all that intelligence get some Emotional Intelligence!

I have to agree with Armon… I don’t really see her in positive projects mainstream wise in any space… I’ve never seen her in lighthearted space where she can let her hair down and just be a joke…. I think she was more relatable back in the 2000’s when she did some TV work
