  • Akureyri in summer of 2022. Sometimes called the Capital of North Iceland, Akureyri is the largest town outside Iceland's heavily populated southwest corner. In this walking tour we explore some of the most remarkable locations Akureyri has to offer.
    Information about the tour:
    04:06 - Akureyri museum.
05:34 - Nonnahús museum. It was the childhood home of the writer and Jesuit priest Jón Sveinsson, “Nonni” (1857-1944). Nonni wrote 12 children's books about his childhood in Iceland. He wrote in German but his books have been translated into more than 40 languages. From the age of 12 Nonni lived and worked in Germany, France, Denmark and the Netherlands.
18:54 - A view over Eyjafjörður fjord, the longest fjord in North Iceland.
    19:17 - Akureyri theater.
    22:13 - Urban farm Akureyri.
    23:15 - Sigurhæðir.
24:56 - Church of Akureyri (Akureyrarkirkja). This Lutheran church was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson and completed in 1940.
    25:57 - Hafnarstræti, a shopping street.
30:00 - Hof, a cultural and conference centre. Hof is a cultural building designed for music and other performing arts, as well as facilities for conferences and meetings, receptions, parties and exhibitions.
    34:05 - Bryggjan restaurant.
