I really don't know what to say about this video, it's just amazing! I give a lot of respect to that photographer Wyman Meinzer, despite him once being a coyote hunter, he has chosen the right path! We must learn to coexist with coyotes! :)

As a Texan hunter I agree with you. The stereotype is that coyotes are monsters, the truth is they're amazing creatures and a part of Texas. Take pride in your state's animals!

At 1AM, I just got home from work and was walking along the golf course next to my home. The moon was bright and the visibility was clear and far. A coyote came streaking at me and passed me and it turned out there was a kildeer bird close by that barely escaped the leaping jaws of the coyote. It was very frightening, but really a unique experience! I'm glad the coyote didn't choose me, because there is no way i could have escaped. That coyote is much faster than any domestic dog, i have ever seen. Breathtakenly fast!

I love listening to Coyotes howl at night while sitting outside my tent next to a camp fire drinking a beer under the stars...

For any who are interested, watch Disney's "The Coyote's Lament" on the coyotes viewpoint of man. It's a very cute animation.

I watched it.. Very entertaining to watch. People need to be educated about coyotes, and hopefully one day, humans will learn to coexist with coyotes. :)

I'm a Texan hunter, come from a family of hunters that have been killing coyotes for decades, sadly the misconception still exists that they are dangerous animals that are going to kill all the deer, which is a crazy thing to say. But I think with some education we'll stop killing these amazing creatures.

You are making a straw man argument. All predators are killers, by definition, including humans. There is no misconception about their being dangerous or putting pressure on prey -- again, by definition they are and do -- the only point of discussion is whether coyotes are over-populated and out of their natural range. That is a basic wildlife management and you can find it in your TP&W hunter education class book.
That coyotes radically expanded their range in the last 60 years is indisputable. Overall, I believe their numbers are also way up, but my reference on this might be old. And that, despite the massive increase in the popularity of coyote hunting since 1990. There is zero danger humans will hunt them to extinction or even get them back into their native range.
So, what is the point of this old video? What are they really arguing against? Are they concerned because a few random hunters griped about dead deer and exclaimed they wished coyotes dead?
This is a snowflake video designed to make certain people feel good because a few folks said they don't like species x, the same way I don't like house flies, mosquitoes, or rats. Fair enough, they aren't evil; they have a place in the ecosystem, but God made them productive and adaptable which is why their number grow, their range expands, and hunters can also play a role in controlling their numbers without threatening or endangering the species.
Another question is why are they using my tax money to make a promotional video because a varmint has a tarnished reputation? Are they next going to waste my money on a video about the misunderstood fire ant, cockroach, and termite? Or are you going to argue they don't have a role in the ecosystem?

I wish the TX Parks & Wildlife website made it easier to find where coyotes are located & available to hunt. It has a ton of useless info. & very confusing!
