    I love seeing this man honored. It is kind of shocking since I last saw him as the training partner on "Ruas Vale Tudo" series from Panther when he was probably 40. Time flies! Of course, I was 20s then and I am 50s now.

    If you ever make more of this, could you doing one on Mestre Leitao's son? He is a Luta Livre guy in his own right and competed in the Olympics in freestyle wrestling. It would be interesting to hear him talk about Luta Livre's contribution to Brazil's freestyle wrestling scene and his time as a trainer for Ruas Vale Tudo.

    Hi everyone i'm highly interested in lute live. But, I have a question about the art. What is the difference between no go jiujitsu and lute livre????

    • @LongNguyen-kn6or
      @LongNguyen-kn6or 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In No Gi you are not allowed to: Knee reaping as well as no heel-hook or twist lock for beginners. But modern Nogi and Luta Livre are pretty the same.

    • @MinusMaximusXX
      @MinusMaximusXX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A diferença é a origem e os tipos de golpes que cada um possui. Deixe-me explicar,
      A luta livre deriva do catch-as-catch-can, já o BJJ deriva do Judô. Ambas possuíam muitas diferenças, especialmente nos tipos de Chaves. Em quanto o BJJ ignorava as chaves de perna, tornozelo (principalmente), a luta livre docava nesses aspectos, aliado a poderosas quedas, o que o BJJ não possuía.
      No entanto, após o advento do “vale tudo” (competições de lutas mistas no Brasil que pré datam o MMA), tanto a luta livre quanto o BJJ se influenciaram mutuamente, hoje não possuindo muita diferença entre os dois.

      Melhor explicação sobre isso. Citar a mútua influência de ambas as artes é muito importante. Havia muita diferença técnica no passado mas essas diferenças estão diminuindo já que os lutadores de ambas as artes reconheceram a necessidade de absorver técnicas umas das outras.

    Seems like luta livre community, just like catch wrestling, is divided rather than unified. If luta livre , as well as catch wrestling, was unified as a community they could work together to promote the sport and be better prepared for fighting with people from bjj and other grappling arts.

    According to the statement by Roberto Leitao in this video, I would just like to clarify three points:
    i) as far as we (Research group) know, Takeo Yano actually lost many times to Mestre Tatu and just won one fight and that was because they fought wearing the kimono and Mestre Tatu got hurt after he was thrown by Yano. Based on the evidence, How on earth could Leitao claim that Yano was better than Mestre Tatu!?
    ii) Carlos Brunocilla wasn’t just “USEFUL” for Luta Livre. HE and his father Fausto were together the “MOST IMPORTANT SUCCESORS” of Mestre Tatu! The majority of the Luta Livre representatives today all over the world are from the Brunocilla lineage!
    iii) and come on! Marcio Cromado is not simply a good gym leader; HE is the trainer of the strongest and most professional MMA fighters from Luta Livre all over the world with Luta Livre Athletes in major organizations such as UFC, Bellator etc.!! There is no other team out there besides RFT representing Luta Livre at the highest level of competition!
    …Roberto Leitao (as a “LUTA LIVRE MESTRE”) must be completely uninformed about Luta Livre history! I am sorry… I found this embarrassing somehow.

      First of all , I'm really sorry but my english is not so good but i will try to explain somethings that only who interview Mestre Leitao can know. As you can imagine , to make 8 minutes of reportage we need to film a lot of image and we can't put everything inside. So maybe sometimes some "idea" from the Masters can be understanding because you don't have all informations , so i will try to explain my feeling and what we understand with the interview : 1/ Everybody can think that "Someone is better than an other fighter" ? Like " For me , Besouro is the best fighter in the world " and he is not for the moment , do you understand? So when Mestre leitao said that for him Takeo Yano was better than Tatu , I understand it was technically and not necessarily as a fighter. And this thing , everybody can have his own opinion. 2/ Something happen between Leitao - Joao Ricardo and Brunocilla family , both Mestre said that Brunocilla family doesn't recognize that they learnt something with them , maybe it's true maybe it's not , but the most importante today is : who really help Luta Livre to develop them own techniques ? For sure Brunocilla Family had maid a lot of champions , but who give the techniques to them? Maybe Joao Ricardo , maybe Roberto Leitao , maybe not ? Sincerely , it's not so importante today for the Luta Livre , we need to be unify. 3/ The final questions of the interview is every time like that : " I will give you a name and you need to give me 1 word or 1 sentence to define him " So Mestre Leitao try to define Cromado as he can with only one word or one sentence.I'm sorry it wasn't possible to say " Marcio Cromado is the best trainer in the world and have the best academy in the world , and blablabla...". To finish , I think every one can say his own true , story and his notice , we need to respect that I think. In few weeks episode 3 online !

      Leitão não poderia ser "professor" dos Bunocillas pelo simples fato dele ser POSTERIOR ao Fausto Brunocilla. Tatu treinava Fausto Brunocilla no início da de´cada de 1940. Leitão começou a treinar JUDÔ em 1953, mesmo ano em que nasceu Carlos Brunocilla. Carlinhos, como ficou mais conhecido, aprendeu Luta Livre com o pai e com o Tatu. Em 1971, aos 18 anos, Carlos era instrutor de Luta Livre . Existem fotos dele com o pai dando aulas no Santa Luzia e no Clube do Boqueirão. Como o Leitão poderia ser professor do Fausto ou do Carlos? O próprio Carlinhos desmentiu o Leitão na Revista Tatame na década de 2000 e posteriormente em uma entrevista antes de ser assassinado em 2014. Existe um ditado que diz o seguinte: "Falar, até papagaio fala".
