I often plug my Traveler into my smartphone's backup Anker battery for recharging when it gets low. Bonus is it automatically shuts off the charging when done if I'm no longer typing.

How do you find your neck position when using this? One advantage with a computer is you can plug it into a monitor that sits at eye level so you're not constantly looking down

@@fletchercutting7301 I don't watch the screen when typing and usually have the Alpha in my lap. I focus more on the keyboard and zone out.

But how often do you go onto the net to retrieve what youve written? Still not distraction free.

@@PsychologyAcademia The drafting process is distraction-free and that is the most critical area for me. I don't find myself nearly as "distracted" once I have the content before me to edit. The most creative/fluid process is drafting for me. That's when I need to sit and get the words out. I am away from damaging screens for that time, away from wifi for that time, away from pop-ups and emails for that time. It is an exceptional process for my personal productivity. I don't upload until I need the content to be edited so those sessions are fewer as well.

@@curatedavalon Good point. I may try it as i am easily distracted and suffer creatively because of it. :) Did you suddenly become more productive or did you still have to work hard?

@PsychologyAcademia It depends on what I'm working on as to whether it is hard for me to write. Final draft is a more difficult process for me but i mainly do that on a laptop. I approached the Freewrite device with skepticism and in the first evening of use, had a breakthrough on the story I was working on that had been plaguing me for weeks. I wrote 30% more than usual! When I use my Freewrite I get more out of my head and am far more productive. I have a trust with the process now and do write so much more that is useful to my projects. I used to stare at a laptop screen and distract myself and with pen and paper I love it but it's not digital which has become necessary these days.

I read in a Reddit post that the Freewrite Alpha got bugs and freeze when you have a lot of words with the device. Is it still valid today or the latest update fix these problems?

Here's a tip: Did you know that if you hold down the left NEW key and hit the BACKSPACE you'll delete the previous word? It's much faster to just retype the word than it is to hit backspace over and over again. 🙂

Is it really that loud?!? Sure to annoy folks at cafés and on trains, as well as to wake up the kids in the room next door. The Alpha is slightly quieter, it seems, but still rather loud…

I increase the volume on the typing in the video so people can hear the characteristics of the keyboard. If you can wake a child with keyboard noise you're definitely doing something wrong.

@ Ah, thanks very much for clarifying about increasing the typing volume in your video. 🙏 Makes sense. So maybe my twin toddlers would let me get away with this after all. 😉
