Congrats!!! Such a life time achievement! This video is especially special for me cause you might not know it, Ben, but you just got me through my first half marathon. Exactly 2 months ago I was overweight , could barely run 3k, and going through some tough times in my life. I was in bed one night and it just hit me..i should run half a marathon! I popped on youtube and something about your videos hit differently than any other running based channels. It’s just that it feels like I have a friend who I care for and he happens to know a sh**load about running! I watched one of your videos where you illustrated a 2 months half marathon training program, I followed it by the dot and voila! Just finished my first half marathon at the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza. It was such an amazing experience and I couldn’t have done it without you. And I’m really glad to see you out there pushing yourself. So all the way from Alexandria, Egypt, Thank you, Ben. Keep on inspiring.
I am not ashamed to admit that nearly brought a tear to my eye. I could feel the emotion in your voice. What a journey you all went on. A lifetime of memories created by your tenacious efforts. Well done boys, well done.👏👏
Awesome stuff! Where I come from in South Africa, theres a 100km ultra called The Sky Run which starts in a lazy town called Lady Grey situated in foothills of the Drakensburg mountains. The race takes you up and through the mountains, which makes its way through my farm so it's always been a special race to me and an overwhelming experience when I finally did it last year! The mountains in my area are named after famous UK peaks, including Snowden, Ben Nevis and Scarfell. I think you need to come down and give the Sky Run a shot!
What you've experienced with different paces is normal. I completed the El Camino in Spain in 2017 and somebody said it earlier, you walk your walk, and others walk theirs. You will share the journey at some point, but you'll learn to let people go and you'll learn to meet new ones. Just like in life.
Fantastic, well done all three of you. What a mega achievement. It’s the looking back on your life in future days when you can tell a story. Living as many stories as you can is the spice of life.
Well done! This is an amazing achievement and has made me inspired for my first marathon in 3 months. Also the conversation about the noodles was hilarious 😂
Im absolutely in awe of the guts and courage shown in this video. I can not express the amount of inspiration received. Thank you. Ben, John, Mikey well done, move over Clark Kent the real Supermen are here. I know I will watch this one many times when I need motivation to do hard things in running and in life. Thank you again for sharing your Happy Messy with us.
Congrats guys!!! EPIC!!! So incredibly proud of you all!! Although it didn’t quite work out that u finished together, u must have some incredible memories to last a lifetime!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
1) Mikey did the right think by his friends. He was truthful with them and refused to hold them back. You did the right thing too and listened to him. 2) Jon's reaction at the top of 'cliff' 1 summed up the highs. 3) What you went through probably cannot be communicated. But you know it and what it was like. That's why you (/we) do it, for that understanding of what we can do. 4) You still look like you need rest and selfcare. 5) Thank you for this and the channel, inspiring and informative.
I walked 100k from Eastbourne on the south coast and it was the toughest most brutal mental and physical challenge imaginable. I hope to run one at some point. This challenge looks next level. Elevation will kill you at the best of times. But over 100k and to this severity is next level stuff. Bravo. I take my hat off to you. The human body is incredible. (Mentally, doing a 27 min km after that amount of time on the road must have felt like an hour!)
Watching your journey leading up to this race and then allowing us to see a glimpse into the effort, stamina, & guts it took for you three to complete this challenge is amazing and so inspiring. It's an achievement so few ever experience and you own it! I keep pushing on because of people like you. Again, congrats to ya'll and a very Happy Christmas holiday!
I know in a small way how you feel. I felt similar after my IM was over. It changed me forever really. I have to say I was amazed at how upbeat you guys were for the entire journey. Enormous kudos to you all!
Wow. All three of you are so strong. Mentally that took serious grit. I’ve completed quite a few 100km ultras and they’ve always broke me and I generally say never again haha but they pale into insignificance when you see the elevation you guys undertook. Just incredible. Thankyou so much for putting such an inspiring video together
Many emotions wrapped in that 100k run/walk & 23 minute video. Will have to share it to non-runners at work. Looking forward to hearing Mary's insight. Makes me wonder if I should sign up for the local 100k - 5 laps of 20k....
Three absolute legends!! You all did so well because that looked super tough! Comparing it to the 3 peaks really put it into perspective 😮 Congratulations, epic achievement 💪
Deciding to split is such a hard hard decision to make - it’s bad enough over shorter distances but knowing that ur buddy is going to have to face such a difficult time going forward on there own is just gut wrenching no matter how much they say it’s fine and they want you to go ahead and to a degree they almost need you to go ahead but that still doesn’t make it any easier …… right I’m going to continue watching now ……
Damn man, what a tough tough go at this one. Appreciate you showing us not only the ups, but the very low downs as well. Congrats on the finish and the awesome video!
Great job all if you! It truly is an epic accomplishment! And it's not like you decided on a whim, there's so much training you've all put in to build to this accomplishment!! Thank you for sharing your journeys! P.s. Mikey - no need to apologize. You were being true to your thoughts and feelings at the time!
Well, that was rather intense. Great job of capturing the highs & lows. The 50K was enough pain & suffering for me. Can't imagine doing 100K in that terrain. Respect.
Brilliant video. What a journey. I was in tears hearing Mikey say it was his greatest sporting achievement and seeing the lone photographer taking his photo. Bravo, gentlemen. xx
Thank you Ben for this video. What a journey! I did the Terrance 20, a fifth of the distance you did for Cliff 100. My first Trail race event and it was challenging for me. Pushing my limits to the max. It was a mental game on my part as well. Can feel Mikey's pain literally.
Hell of an achievement just having the courage to get to the start, let alone actually doing it and finishing. Thats a race that will live on as an enduring " what we did in Asia" memory, to be told frequently until either you die, or Mary gets bored with hearing it.
Your best video yet Ben. Extremely inspirational and well done capturing it all…..was really great to see the course. Not many people complete a marathon - even less do an ultra. But this ultra though is next level. Congrats + well done on a truly remarkable effort!
Congrats to the 3 of you! Ultras are next level in emotions! You go through such ups and downs, it's hard to explain just how special they are despite the hurt and suffering we all go through ! The good news is, we quickly put the suffering of the race aside, and sign up for the next one...😂😂
That’s one of the best videos Ben! You guys are amazing 🤩 Thankyou for taking us on your journey’s, for sharing the ups and the downs and the tears!!! Congratulations to all three of you!!! 👏👏👏 xx
Great video and love the candid reflection. It's what makes this channel so authentic. I would love to run this when I return to Chiang Mai next year and your video certainly motivates me.
Wow. Thanks so much for sharing what was obviously such a physically and emotionally tough journey. I definitely had tears as I could feel just a glimpse into your struggles through such an admirable event to complete. All three of you should be super proud of yourselves as I’m sure you are. Well done boys. Well done! 👏🏼🥳👏🏼🎉
Absolutely monumental, the course, the grit and determination. Bonkers in the best way. The decisions made at the time were clearly the right thing. Don't beat yourself up about it. Hat's off to Mikey for understanding what was happening and accepting the outcome and battling on.
Congratulations! Inspirational stuff in my opinion. Love watching it and your great narration. I have my first road half coming up at Buriram in January and this helps keep me motivated.
Love the video! One suggestion: please use dynamic range compressing for the audio (particularly between music and talking bits). The difference between the loud and quiet parts is too much, I constantly need to change the volume to not get deafened or not hear you at all.
Massive congratulations! 🎉 I was following insta story on that day and I was dying to know about details! And Kudos to Mikey! I could see his struggles but didn’t give up!! 👏👏👏
incredible achievement all 3 of you but especially your pal who was alone for a lot of it, that takes such mental strength. i run upto 60kms alone and unsupported but to do 100 is just unimaginable especially with that elevation!! you guys should all be so proud of yourselves!!
I really enjoyed watching this video, it's an inspiration for myself to try and take up bigger challenges in my running adventures, i've got my first marathon planned in a couple of weeks and i've got a UTMB 50K planned in July to which i'm very looking forward to, as you i will also suffer a lot, but i'm sure that i will not regret taking up those challenges, even if i don't succeed in them, at least i tried. Keep up the good work, you put out some very good content!
Beautiful views. Brutal distance/elevation/trails. I am very very very far away from ever being able to even attempt to do this. Maybe one day, ever, some day.
Mikey is a warrior!
He definitely is 💪🏼😊
Congrats!!! Such a life time achievement!

@@Hurkmaniacs Thank you!
@@carlospagos89 Thank you!
Absolutely amazing and especially to Mmikey because it takes a special mental strength to finish when it is only you and your head!
I am not ashamed to admit that nearly brought a tear to my eye. I could feel the emotion in your voice. What a journey you all went on. A lifetime of memories created by your tenacious efforts. Well done boys, well done.👏👏

Absolutely, finishing is the goal, time is irrelevant.
Incredible stuff, Ben! Thanks for taking us along for the journey! - Mack
Thanks so much, Mark. Glad you can along 😊
Fantastic, well done all three of you. What a mega achievement. It’s the looking back on your life in future days when you can tell a story. Living as many stories as you can is the spice of life.
Mental fortitude shown by all 3 of you is amazing.
Thanks Webby 😊
Well done! This is an amazing achievement and has made me inspired for my first marathon in 3 months. Also the conversation about the noodles was hilarious 😂
Can I get a heart? 🥺
How am I only just finding this channel! Top tier content! Well earned!
You didn’t look hard enough!! 😂 but welcome to the madness 😊
Im absolutely in awe of the guts and courage shown in this video.

I know I will watch this one many times when I need motivation to do hard things in running and in life. Thank you again for sharing your Happy Messy with us.
I've done a few "slow marathons",... but I loved them as much as my fastest ones! 🙂
Congrats guys!!! EPIC!!! So incredibly proud of you all!! Although it didn’t quite work out that u finished together, u must have some incredible memories to last a lifetime!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Yeah, I'm crying like a baby... that was so emotional! I SO get the feeling, your voice being flat, exhausted, but you did it. Warriors! 💪😭💙

Well done! I had same experience post Fellsman (60mi 11,000ft) back in 2018. Enjoy it. Some races never leave you.
Just finishing this is an amazing achievement. Well done. Not even sure I could walk that over two days, never mind jog that.

Wow! You guy's should be incredibly proud. Great video, great edit, and an inspiration to anyone putting on a pair of running trainers!
Absolutely incredible 👏 I agree, this is your best video to date, what a journey that was!!
Thanks dude!! You’re up next 😉 once you go ultra you’ll never go back 😂

Absolutely amazing guys what an achievement.
It encompassed the whole spectrum of emotions and at sometimes hard to watch.

Thanks so much, Christina 😊 I only realised the 3 peaks thing a few days ago when my father-in-law said about it. Blew my mind 🤯
@@ThisMessyHappy Yes! It blew my mind too! I never really understand elevation but I totally understood that!! ⛰️⛰️⛰️

Well done you guys. I finish just a few minutes before Mikey I finished in 25:25 yet I don't remember passing him. Tough race
Well done, dude! How did you find it? Brutal wasn’t it? I think I have PTSD 😂
I love the optimism at 15.00, just "less than a marathon left".
Ha ha only way I could survive. Gallows humour 😂
That’s what I though too! Used to the ‘only a parkrun to go’ but that is another level! 😂
Incredible !! the three of you should be so proud of your achievements. Thank you for sharing 💕
Well done !
As you have now experienced, running a 100K changes a person on the inside.
Congratulations to all three of you.
Just AWESOME.
Congratulations to all of you. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Some editing feedback: Full volume music in between was obnoxiously loud compared to voices.
Amazing . Keep it up Ben you are changing lives. I am the runner who I am now because of you and Mary. So inspiring ❤
Brilliant video. What a journey. I was in tears hearing Mikey say it was his greatest sporting achievement and seeing the lone photographer taking his photo. Bravo, gentlemen. xx
