Coo, all those little extra features do make it more complicated to repair!!! As you say, they could have assembled them one slice at a time, but surely they had a way to service the register without stripping the whole machine apart. I kind of fancy having a look at one of those - I'll keep an eye out for a dirt cheap one over here. Cheers for the video.
The extra features do make it more interesting, but I wonder if this model wouldve been more successful if they had followed the release cadence and released it in 1930 or 31 instead of 39. Not that theyre rare, but the model Js do seem more common, and id imagine by 39 tabulators wouldve been making a dent on Comptometer sales
