This is typical for many Asian manufacturers, who think in terms of utility design. It is functioning = it is good enough. They just can’t recognize what is ugly and old, and what is modern and fresh. To make ui same look like original tesla ui is kind of unnecessary expenses and work for them, and they want to be as cheap as possible, to get more clients.
Hardware integration is nice, the joint in the middle dont bother me much as its behind the center screen, but the UI and no steering wheel buttons control is a huge no no, when in carplay mode, theres no need for the huge battery icon and time and date on the left side, could make it smaller, same for the speedo that takes too much space, better use the space for the Carplay mode
The lack of control using the steering wheel scroll buttons makes this a non-starter for me. That feature is why I bought the Hansshow 10.25" display last December. I love being able to make selections from the steering wheel while driving. I also like the front camera on the Hansshow when I'm parking against a front parking curb. But this unit has a nice look for the cluster, although I dislike the terrible joint in the center of the dash. I would have to cover it with a vinyl strip to hide the joints.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree, the lack of steering wheel control is a big miss and hope they can make it work through software update. I was also sad to not see the front camera integrated.
PLEASE READ: This is by far the most integrated instrument cluster display but do keep in mind that it doesn't support Android Auto and it still blocks decent amount of airflow (less than other units in the past) unless your fan speed is set to high. Contrary to what I said in the video, they created a special plug to make this work in INTEL versions too. I hadn't seen the product listing until this morning and the price is $629 using my code. That is still a bit higher than I was hoping for but they do send an entire new dash and this type of cluster generally has cost over $800 in the past. Thank you.
@@toddswire9581 I highly doubt they will develop it further but they are looking at the possibility of adding steering wheel funtions. I think the issue is the controller box. Thank you.
@@toddswire9581 Yes, they said the UI upgrades were a bit difficult on this one compared to the other mini one. I asked them to figure out the steering wheel control and they are actively looking into it.
The design on the display looks very nice (except for that middle piece that the color doesn't match). I would have liked to see the airflow effect not only on the face but on the body itself, hands and what happens if you point the vents downward. Also the UI is very cartoonish and they could do a better job at it. The red seems to colorbleed a bit due to the intensity. Wish they'd give an option to have no car display on it just a speedo front and center that could move out of the way in the event Carplay starts. I have Android so this is definitely a no go for me.
I don't know why people are obsessed with having a cluster right in front of them when there is a perfectly good one in the center. And if you get the swivel kit it makes the center screen more accessible.
Yup - for this price I can envision something more line space X .. a monitor with voice command open and close and allow air flow .. this one is like going back to the future
In my case, even though I have the swivel kit for the center screen, I got the Hansshow front cluster unit to allow the use of CarPlay and the ease of using it with the steering wheel controls.
They should make it available for the new Tesla model 3 Highland with a HUD if possible, because this is one of the few things missing. Of course it needs to also support Android Auto, as I will never use an iPhone. It should also show blindspot warning like other displays if it could control the ambient light in each side it would be really smart. It should show speed limits. A front camera could also be good.
Great review as always Shiva, a couple of questions, where does the audio for carplay etc come out, is it from the car speakers? also is there a charge / discharge line on the display?
They should fix it so that airflow comes from the front of the screen, that would be awesome! That and the other issues you mentioned would make it great. You didn’t mention if CarPlay comes through the speakers but I guess it does.
Got this installed. Looks good. But now I am getting a message “Climate control not available due to system fault” Not sure If anyone else had the same issue. Any suggestions to troubleshoot this?
Thank you for the update. This looks promising. Maybe Version 2 will be good. No Android Auto, mismatching color, no black or carbon fiber option and a few other miscellaneous items makes it a miss for me.
I agree with most of your likes and dislikes. The dealbreaker is no front camera. I have the original Hansshow display with the front camera and GPS. I use the front camera every day in the garage to keep from running into my motorcycle. Lol. Please keep us updated on the changes. Thank you again for a great review.
Where do I order for a Right Hand Drive version? also did you try a metric flange nut 6mm or 8mm probably, air vents in the new peice would be an idea too
The design of the hardware is nice. Probably one of the best integrations of a dash. The problem I have with this, is the UI and Airflow seem like a second thought. I think this product due to its size a form would allowed to extend the vents and allow for some type or reroute of the air so that it doesn’t get blocked. As far as the UI. Is it that hard to really match it with Tesla’s or be as close as possible. Some clusters have done a good job in being close to Tesla look. Like for example why is the battery UI like the old iOS battery ui when the phone started charging. I get most these people are engineers and probably lack UI/UX designers but maybe they should make an effort to hire one that could help with some of these inconveniences. For the price I would expect more. Overall it looks good but still miles behind other cluster in terms of software and UI look. Thanks for this review! Looking forward to the mini and how it compares.
Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it. TMA's new Carplay version mini screen was just delivered to me and that has some major improvements to the UI. I will make that video asap.
Yes the UI could definitely be better, and it shouldnt be too difficult. They nailed the UI on the circle display reviewed before this. But then.. it’s circle haha. I never actually miss a display but if they make a simple/ small one with the UI feel similar to the circle one, I will buy it no doubt. I commented before to Shiva that if one of these guys want advice on UI, feel free to drop me a message. I would happily help!
Yes, I imagine the air flow is pretty minimal. They should have built in something for the airflow to go through somehow. I don't think I would care for it because I wouldn't be able to have the air flow that I'm used to.
Love this channel - is there a hud that you actually recommend, or a top 5 list? The challenge with many of these is that they all look/feel approximately the same, from the distance.
My thoughts on one solid piece. So it was cheaper to build those different colored metal covers vs the extra shipping cost? Couldn't of saved much. The android auto is a deal breaker for me. But I gotta say its still an amazing upgrade and looks fantastic.

I don't think that is a LED strip, it is a just plastic trim to make it look like a glass LED. They are however working on an integrated system of ambient light led with this display. Thanks.
can you tell me a couple of things? does the audio work properly. In other words while you’re in CarPlay can you select music and have it play out of the Tesla speakers? Does the phone also work from CarPlay or is it still tied to the Tesla app? Does the phone still tie to Tesla and CarPlay at the same time? Or if CarPlay is enabled, is your phone disabled on the Tesla side? I hope that makes sense. The last console from a different manufacturer I tried I sent back because the audio was terrible, basically didn’t work and it completely disconnected from Tesla.
This looks alright. Too bad about the UI. The round display you just reviewed has by far the best interface, but round screens are kind of cheesy. Hopefully whatever chinese factory that is making the round displays will transition to making rectangular ones too with the same ui.
Good video, but to be honest it’s too bulky and I don’t really like the graphics. Why can’t they match typography, lines and colors to match 100% with Tesla?

I want a CarPlay / Android solution that integrates with the original Tesla Display…I am more than happy with my revers able phone holder charger or mini speedometer display mounted on the steering wheel cover. In Australia we are blocked from web access during driving so the ones that work by web browser hosting are no go
A couple things I would like to see: Updated icons - That bluetooth icon is incredibly dated and does not fit the modern tesla aesthetic. Additionally, the current settings icon isn't very "tesla like" either... a simple cog logo would work. Additionally the battery icon also looks a little old. Customisation - Some more customisation to the UI elements, even things as simple as different options for the speedometer (like how you can get different watch faces on an apple watch). Also a light mode & dark mode would be another nice to have addition. Right-Hand-Drive - They should release another purchasing option for cars which use right hand drive so the screen is behind the wheel and not infront of the left-passenger seat.
They a have both ; intel and amd, but I don’t like graphics and size bit too big … for Apple CarPlay we have already Carlinkit option … for dashboard as per graphics and integration is basic it’s by far more easy to use a speed snd basic indicators already existing . I installed this screen and my phone always chooses the Bluetooth connection of this screen as the primary and not of the car. This would he fine but I get no audio from this and can’t figure out if there’s an extra connection I’m missing or if my unit is defective.

Hopefully they will add that with a software update in the future, as well as adding a black color option. If they did these things I would consider buying it.
The airflow and heat is big thing for me. Live in Canada where our winters get pretty cold so along with heated seats we would like more heat and airflow to keep us warm while driving. Love the look though just if they could somehow direct more airflow towards driver. Going from a jeep where the heat sucked we don't want to have to go through that again
Nice but with NO Android Auto ? Not sure Y that would be done. Great Review though as ALWAYS. I found this WITH Android Autoplay. I guess your vender doesn't offer it.

My car is Intel, white interior and I use Android. Keep up the great work, Shiva. I look forward to each new video you produce. Cheers.
Thank you so much for always supporting my content. I really appreciate it. Thanks for your feedback, I hope one day we can have the side camera view in these displays :)
Side camera view would be great. The issue preventing it is most likely lack of access to the video feed without having to splice the connection. We have to remember that the feed goes directly to the autopilot computer, any degradation in signal caused by splicing may cause issues with the AP guidance algos. If there was a test port that provides a duplicated video feed on the board, this would be doable but I'm not sure if that exists.

No audio from the CarPlay ? That would be a deal breaker for me.
After all this year... noone still producing heads up display add- on for TESLA
my next purchase!
Hope you enjoy it!
Great product review!
Thank you!
postive terminal is a metric fastener
like the hardware. Unfortunately no Android Auto is a deal breaker for me since i don't have iphone
Does it fit in a 2022 model 3?
Will it void your Tesla warranty?
battery icon reminds me of when i used to charge my iphone 4 lol...
Nice, bro, tky!!
I was sold on this until you mentioned no Android auto. Now it is a big pass for me
it blocks the AC why would you get this?
