some people come in and are both unexperienced and aggressive about how they think the game should be played, even if I'm playing 'wrong' it's not the right approach. Later another day they came back and said my tips and strategies actually help them and they were wrong, just didn't want youtube comments blasting them
Honestly how Race does it is such a fun way to add eclipse difficulties. Like E9 is balanced multitudes, E10 could replace Phase 4 Mithrix with phase 4 Umbral, E11 is the same but with phase 3, then for E12 it would be phase 2 and 1. E13 could be a balanced variation of allowing certain enemies to appear on stages they normally wouldn't at lower chances, E14 could be more credits for spawning the boss on tp starting from stage 3, but slightly reducing the boss hp by like 10 or 15%. Thinking about it, E13 and 14 should be E10 and 11, and we move all Umbral modifiers up.
This here is just your every day enge Off related note Finally got the DLC... Am addicted to Railgunner Marksman. Just back to back crits and a kill each time. That's hella satisfying!
i love how the first item you thought about was the feather! when i started playing i immediately knew that the feather was a good item, i'd consider the run a win if i had a feather even as a beginner
Hey Race, I commented on another video of yours a bit ago about how I wasn't getting as many items as you per minute, and wasn't sure how you got those insane builds you get so often. I decided to take your advice by trying to loot more of each stage and it was eye opening. By spending just 3 more minutes on each stage on average (I tried not to let the timer rule my pacing), I felt like I had a solid build for both boss killing and general enemies by stage 3. I ended up getting to stage 8 and obliterating for the first time to get Mercenary. Just wanted to let you know how your videos opened up the game to me as there was basically a whole side of the game I hadn't experienced by trying to match the 5 minute rule. Thank you! I got to get more practice in before implementing any of those item macro strategies, but if those strategies are any bit as effective as your other advice, its sure to bring my skill to yet another level.
10:39 you’re talking about the laser twitching a little bit and calling it crazy, while i am over here marvelling at how stable the lasers are. On console, it goes like 10m each side like 10 times per second its crazy
Currently on my Eclipse climb, it’s frustrating when I get the best luck (Cherf with a Recycler stage one, bleed printer and Spleen stage 3, IDP, FMP and a gas printer stage 5, and a Soulbound soup, all for my Commando E7) only to get merced by a malachite chimera
Thank you for the time you took to make that difficulty guide, I am returning to ror2 from back when they first introduced mithrix because I just recently found out about the DLC so now I have all these eclipse difficulties to do for all characters! This guide is gonna help me a lot im sure
I think the timer is a really good tool if used with the right mindset. You can, after a while, intuit the difficulty from the timer which gives you an idea of how much of a challenge you're going to face coming up based on what your build has an excess/deficit of. For example, you might look at the timer and think to yourself, "hmm, 21 minutes starting the teleporter on stage 2, I'm definitely going to need to prioritize movement speed in the next stage so I can get to items a bit faster so I can stay ahead of the scaling with my current excess of damage." It shouldn't be a yard-stick you self-flagelate with due to the misconception that the game was designed with clearing stages by certain times. I definitely suffered from the bad advice that is "5 minutes per stage is ideal". On the one hand, it pushed me to boost my item acquisition efficiency, but on the other, it gave me a clock-watching complex and caused me to feel compelled to leave stages early, with too few items, in otherwise workable runs that only failed due to insufficient items. Your videos definitely helped break me out of that mindset, granted I think the time spent on a stage is still something worth keeping in mind. The way I approach it now is based on the philosophy that items are the single most important part of power management, and the timer is second to that. But that means the timer is inherently a component. Obviously survival is another aspect of playing, but strictly talking about managing your power, it's items then timer. Someone (you, DO, or raydans) mentioned once that a better measure is something like 1 item/minute, which I think is much more helpful. It's the relationship between the two factors that determine your power (items increasing, time decreasing it) and as such, is more akin to velocity. For example, in working out how fast you are (in real life) distance doesn't necessarily mean much on its own, neither does time. "I can travel X distance", or "My travel took Y time." Meaningless regarding speed, but "I can travel X distance in Y time" and you've got a measurement of how fast you are. "I have X items", meaningless. "My is Y minutes long", meaningless. "I have X items Y minutes into the run", that's your measure of power there. Obviously, the items themselves are another layer to it, so is the survivor you're playing as, but for general benchmarking, items/time is substantially more useful than just "timer says Y".
It's also worth noting that moving to a new stage increases difficulty and later stages spawn more dangerous enemies on generation so being at 20 minutes on stage 4 will be much harder than being at 20 minutes on stage 2 even if you have the exact same items
@@a_cats That's a good point. I believe, too, the rate of scaling itself increases with each stage. So enemy level at 20 minutes in will be higher on stage 4 than on stage 2.
On the topic of Mithrix, I remember the first time seeing you do the artifact of the king and it's been my favorite version of the boss. Umbral 1.0 was a nice change of pace for me but I'm not gamer enough for 2.0. I also miss the obelisk that would let you toggle when you wanted to do umbral, anytime I was on a god run I'd enable it to balance out power levels. Artifact of the king run in the future?
Mobile turrets' proc coefficient is .6 BUT they attack 5 times/sec versus stationary turrets' coeff is 1 and they attack 3 times/sec. When you math it out, they both end up procing 3 times/sec
I like when people tell Race he’s wrong for doing a full clear on stages. He does it all the fucking time, and has like what a ton of wins on E8 specifically?
Race explains in the link you gave. Corsebloom is no longer a void item; now a lunar. And Purity is no longer a lunar item; now a void item - corrupts clovers.
@@jaybali7526 #1 corspebloom has always been a lunar item, not a void item. #2 I tested this out in game and looked in my logbook and none of these items are changed.
Update: I cant find it in my games, and i have risk of rain 2 fully updated but I was watching a disputed origin stream titled: "5 pros vs umbral mithrix", and guess what? They went to the bazaar after a copious stage 4 and there was a blue benthic bloom. So I really dont understand what is going on here anymore. Sorry for no timestamps on the stream at the time of writing this they stream is not over.
Umbral mithrix confuses me bc everytime i try the fight and get to the third phase he always ends up being perma-invincible and i never know what to do from there

Yeah me didnt realize and I fell for the gaslighting😭🤦♂️

glad u were able to answer my question at the beginning of the vid, thank u for always being willing to help during ur streams :)

I love stationary turrets, thanks for playing them again (even if it was by luck)

gonna be real, I NEVER use stationary turrets, I just like dumping the turrets down and forgetting abt them

i loved the "it would be sanctum but way better". Sanctum 2 has not aged very well, but at least the original dungeon defenders is still very fun.
I really want Race to have the certified ROR2 console experience™ at some point in time just for the shits and giggles
Mobile turrets' proc coefficient is .6 BUT they attack 5 times/sec versus stationary turrets' coeff is 1 and they attack 3 times/sec. When you math it out, they both end up procing 3 times/sec
Lower proc coefficient also means shorter bleed duration
Race made me a mobile turret enjoyer, stationary turrets just feel bad after using them
11:52 go through all bad void and lunars until theres only modded items left
Did my whole e8 climb with mobile turrets, just can’t say no to all the wacky synergies
Are you using a mod to disable the items showing on your character? What's the mod called??
damn that ending was crazy
5:08 did the dlc affect the looting strat? Maybe they are just a console player
I like when people tell Race he’s wrong for doing a full clear on stages. He does it all the fucking time, and has like what a ton of wins on E8 specifically?
If lower proc-co for bleed is bad why does it work so well with captain? Is it because u can maintain large number of stacks even with low duration?
8 x 0.75 every second is powerful
10:22 Huhhh????? I haven't heard of this can someone explain.
