So many great tunes.. Definitely a first time to hear him singing It’s not love, but it’s not bad. He certainly had his own unique way of singing but my husband and I enjoyed all of them. I’m no Ernest Tubb expert … but I am an expert on what I like, and to me it’s hard to beat the ‘71 and ‘’72 trifecta of One Sweet Hello/ Say Something Nice To Sarah/ Baby It’s So Hard To Be Good. Three albums of great songs and Tubb’s voice is up and forward in the mix. I dig his later voice! It’s a shame what all them cigarettes did to his health, but they did something great to his voice. Thanks for putting this up!
ET smoke all his life and the peak smoky Tubb "for me" is the 60' - 65' years. The post 66' era is much weaker and in the 70's ET is a shadow of his former self. And like I said I’m no aficionado and don’t know all his stuff as well as you or others, but I really do prefer that early 70s stuff. It’s “Tubb-ier” to my ear. All the good stuff but exaggerated. My favorite ET stuff is from 58'-65' so this is not my favorite ET by a long shot BUT,, I've been surprised through the years by how many people love ET's late 60's early 70's stuff and I think that's a good thing !! I wish I could hear it through your and their ears...
