We have a spotter car drive ahead of the skaters by around 20 seconds / a couple corners. They are constantly saying if it's free (Free, Free, Free) so everyone knows the radios are working correctly. If they have any car come up, the car type and colour get called to the rider so they know what to look out for and roughfuly when they should meet it. If multiple cars come up we call out all and specifically which one is the last car so once they pass that one they can skate a clear road again. I hope that makes sense, it would be a great video to make showing how we spot and what equipment we use!
@jesco3426 7 minutes ago Alright,, so its one thing if you want to be stupid and possibly injure yourself,, but its another when you put other people in danger on the road! If someone swerves off the road to avoid hitting you, and kids get hurt,, man, you might try using some common sense!
I understand your concern but 2 things are in place which help avoid a situation like this. 1. We use walkies with updates on what traffic is coming, so the rider can slow down and be in 100% control well before the car is anywhere near him. 2. People who drive this road know what to expect, yes skaters are not normally going down it but they are all very use to cyclists doing the exact same thing with no radios or anything. So people drive carefully anyway, we only do this at sunrise and sunset to avoid most of the traffic as well.
