Freedom Planet 2 is a perfect example on why you should never doubt indie games. With triple A companies just churning out whatever they can for money, unlike them, indie game companies/developers actually put love and passion into your game, you just know it when you're playing it. Freedom Planet 2 has secured a place in my heart that I literally didn't even get from my childhood games. GalaxyTrail didn't have to drop arguably one of the best games of all time but they did anything. Game is weirdly enough, life-changing for me. Deserves the overwhelmingly positive ratings and more!
Ya know... any project in the videogame industry starts precisely from passion and an idea of the developers. That's why the first super mario bros was so successful and more companies started realizing "hey we can make money out of this!". But overtime, they prioritized more money than the only and most important part about a game: being fun. You can have the best idea and bad execution and vise versa, but what if those two aspects where harmoniously balanced? you can have a Mario, Kirby, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, Street Fighter, etc. The reason why so many people like freedom planet and it's sequel is because of those two things, not only about love and passion. Of course, you can have the biggest passion for a drawing, making a game, cooking, etc, but you need to concentrate about A LOT, AND I MEAN A LOT of stuff. Yeah, sonic 06 may have been a masterpiece, but the game it's... what it is.

Everything we had and what was made began from a passion and a real drive to make a change and do something they wanted in life. I think I was just mainly targeting exactly what you said; the prioritization aspect. I feel like games such as Call of Duty should be much less accredited for their aspect of fun because the DESIGN is fun, not the game. Call of Duty is renowned because it's the biggest first-person shooter of all time, but that's because it's the best game to go to if you just want to shoot stuff up and get levels for it. And the rest is history.

This franchise changed my life. FP1 is fantastic, but FP2 is a realized dream for me. my sincere gratitude to everyone who's involved in this game development, specially Sabrina for the efforts to make all this possible and Woofle for the harmonic and catchy melodies in every soundtrack. I mean, green hill zone is a masterpiece because it’s nostalgic to hundreds of thousands, if not millions worldwide. It must’ve been such a time to grow up in the Nintendo vs Sega war where consoles were first starting to come out. Getting your hands on a Genesis and playing with your friends after school, imagine that! But for me, I’m growing up in Freedom Planet 2’s time. And honestly, I don’t wish I was born at any other point. I’m old enough to perceive the beauty of music like this. It really touches my soul. More than anything else, right down to my core. Yet I couldn’t tell you why. It’s, unironically, indescribable with words. All I can really say, is it hits on a very personal level. I’m all for it. Man! The 10/10 ratings on the internet and the overwhelmingly positive ratings on steam? They deserve that and way more. The game’s insanely underrated even then.
Freedom Planet 2 is a masterpiece. It's just what i wanted from FP1 but they improved a lot of aspects in this one. Game is 2x longer than the first game. I remember being very sad because the game was really short and was craving for more. I waited for years just to play this sequel and it never dissapoints. The game expands the lore and story of Avalice and provided more context on what happened during the past and present. Things changed drastically around the planet, Shang Mu, Shang Tu, Shuigang all went through major changes and the kingdoms felt more futuristic than they were in FP1. I love Shang Mu so much. The characters from each locations are also interesting. I love talking to every single one of them, listening about their life,their praises about the character and their ability to perform trading with the main characters. Every single one of them added lots of charismas, personalities and engagements and the end result is that...i never get bored talking to them. I constantly went back and forfh each hub areas just to see if they got anything new to say. Speaking of which, the hub world is a nice touch. It showed that Avalice Planet is a massive world and each kingdoms were connected by one after another. It showed that there's more to explore on this lovely planet and i will be happy if GalaxyTrail were to make a sandbox spinoff where we can travel to new areas around the planet to complete quest, discover new things and searching for truths from the past. I really love Avalice Planet and wanted to know more about the history. The levels are (chef kiss) perfect. Regardless of which characters you picked (though i love Carol more than Lilac), you are bound to find enjoyment. The level designs were nicely made by the developer and dare i say .... better than most Sonic games. In Sonic games, the level designs were inconsistent, some levels let you go fast but some levels added too much dumb obstacles that stops you abruptly. It's been decades but Sega just couldn't able to find a solution. Then comes Freedom Planet 1&2, GalaxyTrail wrote down every problems and errors about Sonic levels and improvised them to an extent. Here, the levels were so consistent with the ability of letting you go fast whenever and wherever. The connection between each platforms, loops or route that your character took all felt so seamless. The transition between one another were so smooth, i can hardly find any jarring moments. It really look like GalaxyTrail understand the fundamental flaws of the Sonic games and vowed to never repeat it here in Freedom Planet. Lilac, Carol (which is my favourite), Milla and Neera all have different types of controls and mechanics for players to learn but despite that, every characters were adapted well into their respective levels, there's no such thing where Lilac do well but Carol couldn't, none of those dumb mechanics. Sure, every characters took inspirations from different video games in the past and added their mechanics for Team Lilac. Not just Sonic but stuff like Gunstar Heroes, Ristar, Megaman X etc. GalaxyTrail understood every problems with Sonic games and created their style to stand on their own. The graphics are simply charming, every levels have their own atmospheres to make it look like you are travelling through different locations. Shang Mu with the night sky, Parusa with the peaceful ocean and island, Shuigang with the snowy terrain and ShangTu being the home of the Royals. Every worlds have something so different that i never feel like i'm going in a circle but instead, i was able to constantly see a bunch of rare things in each Kingdom. This makes everything so special and part of me wished that Avalice is an actual planet and i wanted to live there forever. I ADORE THIS PLANET SO MUCH. Every levels also have their respective nature to be distinctively different from one another. The color palettes were different for each parts and they sets up different moods. Not once where they reuse the same assets and that's the reason the game is perfect. I especially love Gravity Bubble, the way the bubble circle spirals in the background is visually impressive for a 2D game. I also like how in Ancestral Forge where you can be stuck inside this cave for 20 minutes or so but i never feel bored exploring. Of course, the soundtrack is (chef kiss again) BRILLIANT. Woofle did yet another tremendous job at composing some of the greatest pieces of soundtracks. Continuing from FP1, her contributions deserve lots of credits than we could ever imagine. Here are some that i loved - The Main Menu Theme puts you in a heroic mood filled with motivation to stop the new threat. Not sure if it's just me but the way the mountain scrolls in the background with the sky being in dawn just adds a lot of aesthetic value. A new day, a new hope and i'm ready to kick some butts. - Hub World especially Shang Mu and Parusa. I would linger around these two maps before doing anything else for five minutes and vibe along the notes. - Tiger Falls is really good - Robot Graveyards, love it - Phoenix Highway, so good - Zao Land, lovely - City Hall, i like how comedic it can be, +5 COMEDY - Gravity Bubble, need i to say more? - Globa Opera 1&2, GOOSEBUMPS - Diamond Point, epic showdown - Bakunawa Rush, SA2 vibes there's more but these are some of my favourites. In conclusion, Freedom Planet 2 is a major step up from the first game. Yes, the first game is still good but the sequel is even better. Despite being a Sonic clone at times, Freedom Planet 1&2 excels at the level design. Whereas there were some questionnable moments in terms of level designs in Sonic series, Freedom Planet does not have any of those moments. Instead it blows Sonic games out of the water with how the good the level designs are, fantastic soundtracks, smooth controls and the story that keeps on delivering even where you think it's over. Despite some bugs and some plotholes, those are small issues that never affect the overall game. GalaxyTrail, you deserve a medal for the hardwork you commited for 8 years. This is a fantastic indie game i played in recent years and it will stay that way for a long time. Sabrina Diduro, if you're reading this, it's okay if you don't want to make a new sequel. You can make a spinoff, DLC, or even a sandbox game i mentioned earlier. We will be there to support you. Sabrina and Woofle, i just want to say you both did a tremendous job for the game. How i wish i could meet both of you in real life and get autographs. You both are so talented❤️. The OST in this game is phenomenal, just like in the first game, this track in special it's amazing Dragon Valley is my favorite track from the first game, and it's the same thing for this version of the stage, it's sounds so relaxing, and at the same time it's so energetic... It really give some vibes of "a big adventure comes ahead" and at the same time "calm field/forest first level" and it even maintains the FP1 Dragon Valley's melody at some point, which I enjoy a lot

I spent around 30 hours playing JUST the demo in the leadup to the release, so I now mentally associate specific parts of this track with specific places in the level. It's also a testimate to this track's quality that I never got tired of it in all that time : )
I see that the song has been given a more electronic edge to many of the instruments compared to the early beta version, stronger kick-drums, and that distinctive electronic whistle at 0:54
Adventure Time and Sonic the Hedgehog are my two favorite things and Freedom Planet reminds me alot of both of them. And is quickly becoming my third favorite thing.

When I first saw that freedom planet had been released, I suddenly became obsessed with it. I went to steam and bought it asap. When I listened to the title theme it was bonkers, made me impatient to get to play it. When I got to play Dragon Valley, this song made me feel refresehd and ready for a whole new adventure. It makes u jump right into it because u know from this song that a huge adventure awaits.
im more like a "mario" person for i cant really get the pace when playing the classics sonic games and yet this game is so well made i cant help it but get addicted, seriously how the gameplay in this sequel turned into perfection is simply unbelievable

Di Immortales, the Beta track of this in the demo was simple and nice, but this is SO BEAUTIFUL.....
I see that the song has been given a more electronic edge to many of the instruments compared to the early beta version, stronger kick-drums, and that distinctive electronic whistle at 0:54

Adventure Time and Sonic the Hedgehog are my two favorite things and Freedom Planet reminds me alot of both of them. And is quickly becoming my third favorite thing.

When I first saw that freedom planet had been released, I suddenly became obsessed with it. I went to steam and bought it asap.
When I listened to the title theme it was bonkers, made me impatient to get to play it. When I got to play Dragon Valley, this song made me feel refresehd and ready for a whole new adventure. It makes u jump right into it because u know from this song that a huge adventure awaits.

im more like a "mario" person for i cant really get the pace when playing the classics sonic games and yet this game is so well made i cant help it but get addicted, seriously how the gameplay in this sequel turned into perfection is simply unbelievable

Fp1 is complete given Torque-Spade were planned as expansions
At least we got a full playable sequel from start to finish. At least this game was fully released unlike SilkSong

well, I'm be honest. I don't like retro gaming, also not good with games from 8-32 bit period. And only this game is exceptio, I love it from bottom of my heart, and hope Galaxy Trail will make more similar games in future 😊
