I am fortunate to have FX3 and FX30 and can completely relate to your thinking. I use the FX3 way more during the winter months because a lot of the footage is after dark. The 12,800 ISO performance is unreal on the FX3 and allows for easily stopping down the aperture when needed (which is often) or shooting with an f4 lens and getting great results. Have a great trip - can't wait to see the photos/videos from it!
I'm hoping to get the FX3 to match my FX30 soon. But I'm wondering if they're going to come out with a new camera soon to replace the FX3. Do you think they will?
I have been using Sony my whole life but recently I've been considering the Lumix because it's so much less expensive than the FX3 and has open gate, 6K, extremely better stabilization, etc but I'm worried about things like focus and moire. So I'm going to probably stick with the Sony's. I'm just assuming Sony's going to have something to compete with the new Lumix cameras since Sony hasn't come out with anything in a while and the FX3 is so much more expensive. My question is, does the FX3 have better stabilization than the FX30? The stabilization in the FX30 isn't very good and probably the thing that attracts me most to the Lumix but isn't enough win me over yet
Switched over from the FX30 to the FX3 6 months after owning the 30. the second base is just so damn good to nail the right exposure, even in non dark scenes I can still perfectly expose at 12,800 with an ND. And you're right we don't need it all the time but WHEN we do, its clutch.
I also just switched. Don’t regret it! Expect for the fact it doesn’t have the exact shutter speed update that the fx30 has. But I see a lot of people asking you “how do you stay established and stable in the industry”, and I think how to start getting closer to that, is the same concept with TH-cam. Stay consistent, keeping improving and bringing new ideas to the table. It’s the same as a 9 to 5, if you don’t improve and show your boss there is improvement, you’ll be fired or never get a raise, but you succeed when you bring new ideas, show improvement, etc.
I’ll likely upgrade to an fx3 at some point but I’m in no rush. I use my fx30 for marketing and social videos, ads etc and 99% of the time have total control over lighting and environment so can’t justify the jump + new glass (yet). If/when Sony ever releases the fx3 mk II and I’m in the position, I may upgrade and use FX30 as a solid B-cam then, but for now as great as the FX3 is, the fx30 is still a solid rig for me.
You're doing exactly the same thing I'm doing. I bought the FX30 recently. I want the FX3 as my main camera but I'm holding out since surely they are going to come out with a new version. They need to come out with a new version since the FX3 is so old and Panasonic is starting to catch up with less expensive more feature rich options. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I've been using an FX3 for over a year now and I love it!! I've been pairing the a7SIII and Alpha 1 since they came out and I couldn't imagine a workflow without either. I recently sold my last prime lens (Sigma 35 f/1.2) to pick up the f/2.8 16-35 GM II so now I'm just running the trinity plus 200-600 (when needed for wildlife). It's such a compact kit everything fits in my Lowepro less the 200-600 and tripods. I love the iso range between the two cameras 640, 800, 4000, 12800 which gives me all the versatility I could need. A lot of people think the higher iso's are only good for darker shooting and forget you need more iso when cranking the fps. Catching the early morning wildlife in 120 before the sun rises is a great time to have that higher iso range available! Would love the added functionality of the FX3 but then end results are the same and I couldn't ever justify the loss selling the a7SIII to swap. That and it's incredibly easy going back and forth between the two bodies given the design and having all of the functions programmed the same (where they can be). PS I Love primes... but that's part of the problem hahaha they don't make for a very mobile kit!
Keep them coming! I appreciate the sharing of information and reasoning. I own an FX3 and it took me forever to make the decision as it was my first camera purchase. Just really getting started so sharing your experiences is greatly appreciated!

I recently bought the FX30 and hope to get the FX3 or whatever comes out next to replace it for a main camera. I'm coming from using three a6600s. I like having an APSC sensor for tighter shots and more affordable options. I think it will be a good match to the full frame. I always use at least two cameras when I shoot interviews so I figured those two would be a good match. I've never owned a full frame camera though. I'm excited to see if I can get a wider shot without the lens distorting the edges like I do when I'm using my 16 mm on my APSC sensor. Do you think I'll be able to get better wide shots with the full frame? I figured that would have been one of your points. To get closer to the subject and wider at the same time.
Big fan of the format bro 🙌 also YOU DO YOU with YOUR gear lol, keep using whatever fits your latest workflow and I’m totally here for it. Love your stuff man 🤙
I've been looking at the FX30 as a camera I will keep even if I grab a full frame camera. Regarding full frame, I've been looking at the Panasonic S5iix. In part because it comes with shutter angle already available. And you can record to an SSD. And it has what many consider gimbal like stabilization in its dynamic stabilization mode. Plus, it also shoots stills. Considering that I would have to get full frame glass for any full frame camera I get, the S5iix is looking pretty good. It's a tough choice. There are a lot of great cameras out there. If I won the lottery, I'd probably get the Sony Burano.
I got a little derailed with the Lumix as well but the more I looked into it the more sketchy it seemed. Mostly with moire. It's my understanding the FX3 has better low light as well. But I'm really attracted to the stabilization on me Lumix. And the open gate is cool. I think you can set your profiles to use a certain shutter speed for a certain frame rate but I haven't done that yet. It's easy enough for me to just double up my shutter speed manually so I don't see that as a strong selling point although it is cool to have the angled shutter. But I bet they're going to come out with a new FX3 soon since it's been so long and there's so much competition coming up. I think the FX3 also has less rolling shutter. And Sony has better focus. So for me the Sony is just better because I do mostly interviews and need the focus to be spot on and I don't depend on stabilization but yesterday I used my FX30 for the first time since it just got it. I went to a family event and the stabilization was really not that great at all. It would make it a lot more fun to use with improved stabilization. So the Lumix sounds like more of a fun camera to use. But I think I'll end up getting more usable footage for my more important work with the Sony's. So I'm on the fence with the Lumix because I could probably for $1,600 less than an FX3. I just hope Sony announces something sooner than later to replace it.
I am upgrading from my iphone 14 pro and i am thinking fx30. I started my IG this Year making Moody street reels in Stockholm and i have reached 32k. I shoot a lot after dark but there are always streetlights present. Will that be a struggle with the fx30? I was drawn to it for sure. But maybe a7iv is a better choice for a dark country. I do get a lot of business offers now so i want to be able to to all kinds of video. Photo is not important.
@KofiYeboah Thanks for the update!! I've always had the FX3 on my list, and like you I'm not listing it as part of The Creator bandwagon, I'm just glad the crew chose to use it for the film. That just confirmed that I have the right camera on my wish list. I hope you have a safe trip to Ghana, and please share your experience, projects and BTS from there!!!!
I just don't understand why there are no other camera from other brands that try to compete with A7SIII, FX3, FX6, ZV-E1 in terms of low light and low MP count. I think those cameras would live pretty long if you own any and you don't have enough budget to replace. Planning to buy other cameras as well but gonna keep the A7SIII with me for years to come until maybe A7Siv/FX3 II comes out with much better low light performance.
Not a bad format. I actually prefer it it’s a little bit more personal but I just got to say you definitely don’t have to explain yourself to everyone and justify switching gear. I know there’s always gonna be people that are upset about it but screw them lol anyways, good job keep up the good work.
Thanks homie ! It wasn’t so much of the upset people as ones who genuinely think that they have to do the same thing 😅 I try to be a little empathetic to them The miserable people, fck em
Fx3 is much to expensive. My audience will never notice the difference and i dont shoot in the dark. Buying the fx30 instead of the 3 is a smart move for 95% of all people
Agreed. Especially if you don’t shoot full time and If you don’t already own all full frame lenses. Remember the FX-30 came out last year as a less expensive alternative for content creators to the FX-3. The FX-30 is an excellent option if you don’t already own Sony Full frame lenses or bodies. I bought my FX-3 in 2021 and my FX-6 in 2023 to use for my corporate video work. I don’t work in the dark at all but I work with full frame since the beginning.
Have fun on your trip. I get what you're saying, personally I think taking a cheaper camera is a better idea, just because if it's gets lost or stolen.
*I thought you HAD an FX3 lmao oh well...APS-C vs FULL Frame will ALWAYS be a Thing. But if ya like Low Light Performance it makes sense BUT...here in Alaska it gets dark at 4pm*

Planning to buy other cameras as well but gonna keep the A7SIII with me for years to come until maybe A7Siv/FX3 II comes out with much better low light performance.
December+Ghana,
Have fun bud 🔥
Thanks !
The ZV-E1 works great with crop lenses and Active Dynamic Stab … something to consider
I prefer the fan in case it becomes my client cam when not using the Komodo, but full frame TH-cam/socials it’s awesome!
My Ghanaian brother
Enjoy going home❤️🇬🇭
Absolutely!
If you were only shooting youtube fx30 or fx 3 ?
Save your money
Not you upgrading once you finally convinced me to get this camera 😂
Haha 😂 it’ll give you time to watch the 50+ videos on it 👀🫡
@@KofiYeboah true! I appreciate you! Safe travels and enjoy the new gear 🎉
Hey brotha! great content! quick question... Will a full frame lens like the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E) work with the fx30?
Yes it will but remember the 1.5x crop 👍🏾
Thank you! beyond the crop, my biggest concern is whether or not the autofocus will work the same as well?@@KofiYeboah
It wasn’t so much of the upset people as ones who genuinely think that they have to do the same thing 😅 I try to be a little empathetic to them
The miserable people, fck em
Please sir can I meet you if you come to Ghana 🙏🙏🙏
I’m going to see family for the most part but if anything comes up, sure!
Enjoyed .. thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Bro Kofi will be waiting for you 😂😂😂 I'm in Accra 🎉
lol my wife just asked me what I want for my birthday 😈 I have the fx30 i’m a beginner so do I really need the fx3 ?
Unless you have the same reasons to get one as I do 😅 just cop thr fx30
So should i still start with the fx30?
Just because I moved doesn’t mean you should! If it fits your needs , yes
I’m trying to build a starter kit. I have the a74 but would like the fx30 for Broll for interview videos
I’m fortunate to have the Fx3, Fx30, ZV E1, A7RV and A7Cii
My guy has B&H at home ahah
I love my fx3
Fx3 is much to expensive. My audience will never notice the difference and i dont shoot in the dark. Buying the fx30 instead of the 3 is a smart move for 95% of all people
That’s great for ya, sounds like the fx30 is the camera for you
It’s not that bad, just gotta be aware !
Love from Ghana
Thank you chale 🇬🇭👊🏾
@@KofiYeboah I will love to link up with you when you come
*I thought you HAD an FX3 lmao oh well...APS-C vs FULL Frame will ALWAYS be a Thing. But if ya like Low Light Performance it makes sense BUT...here in Alaska it gets dark at 4pm*
I did for a VERY short time in 2021 before getting an FX6, I moreso referring to recent videos as I sold it when the channel was around 2000 subs 😅
the creator wasn’t shot with the fx30, it was a mix between fx3 and komodo
I meant to say 3, I just talk fast lol
Am in Accra
TH-camrs who sing odes to a certain camera always end up switching 😅
To all people out there just buy yourself Fx3/Komodo or even Ursa and dont bother
🤷🏾♂️given the option to switch tools with minimal friction, most people would move around too, it’s just a camera, not a marriage lol
buy nice or buy twice@@KofiYeboah
Mate, your hands are huge! That fx3 looks like a toy. 😂
I have tennis racket hands 😂😂
Ghana? Jollof mukbang???
Lmfao honestly, maybe 😂
Fx3 + Full frame lenses =$$$$
Ahah oh I know 😅 had an FX6 since launch day
I sold my FX-30 within the first 1 hour of having. All those YT hype and bs is really too much.
I had it since launch day for a year and I used it every day, perhaps maybe you didn’t get the right camera for you ?

I think he means TRAITOR. Either way he’s wrong. It’s not a crime to change camera if the need changes! 😮
