Story time. I wanted one of those heads so I got the Joyo Meteor to test the waters. It blew me away tonally but I wanted a real Orange. I couldn't find the Jim Root head for a good price online so I tried an Orange TH30 at my usual guitar shop. I bought the TH30 within minutes of trying it. It is arguably my favorite amp (competing against a PRS MT15 and EVH Stealth 50 watt). I've got my Orange Head sitting atop a single DV-77 (Mick Thomson signed) speaker and that pair is amazing. Of the overdrives I have used, my TS808 style pedal is the Orange's favorite. Lastly, put a decent EQ in the loop with a noise gate if you get a TH30. Good video. I shall subscribe.
Sounds great man. I use to have the Jim root head and cab. Mine was stolen. Not in production anymore.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘. I need a Mesa 2/12! Have a stealth 50 and KSR 2/12. V30 75 cream back combination.
I’m actually planning a video where a demo a few that I really like. My top two are a pepers pedals dirty tree and a GUP Tech PdEQ. The PDEQ in the loop of this amp is amazing. I demoed that on another video if you search my channel.

Such a killer amp. The Orange Dark range is awesome. And I love that Jim got them to make a signature Terror not a Rockerverb, to keep it affordable
Ya good point. It's too bad they don't make them anymore. Great amps for what they are.

I love my Jim root amp with a maxon 808 od.
Just wish it had 2 channels.
Plays nicely with my 808 as well. I also like it with the Dirty Tree and some of my KHDK pedals.
I have the head and the matching cab and it is my BABY!!!! Love it!!!
I’ve never tried the matching cab. I’d be interested to hear how it compares to this one.

@@ScottBynoe The Dark Terror is still available but it only has a single knob for the tone control and is consequently not quite as versatile
@@Andrew-ry7iw I had my eye on the dark, but it was the lack of eq control that made me hesitate.
As a DT owner I’d strongly disagree it’s “less versatile” than any single channel amp with a three band eq. The shape control can do quite a bit.

I don't really rate Jim as a player - but his taste in gear is impeccable. I have a MIM Jim Root Tele and the Orange #4 Head. Both incredible.
