I was the biggest Tim Calvert fan back in 1990, his leads on Twisted Into Form blew me away. The riffs both he & Locicero wrote were so damned good. Calvert's phrasing and vibrato were sick, and loved those sweeps. Locicero was a really good player as well, nice vibrato. This song is rad!
Agreed! They had a unmatched sound back then. Saw them & Sanctuary play in a small intimate club in riverside California. While waiting outside to get in Russ offered us free tickets. Imo Forbidden is better than any of the big four.
This may not be on an album, but this is one of their most mature tracks. If only Paul and the rest of this line up stuck around just long enough for this demo to become an album.
Trapped is a GREAT GREAT demo. Funny thing, i found it in a second hand CD store, bought it for like 2$ and it is by far my greatest and luckiest find in episode in terms of budget cd buying. It was around 1998 and through this demo i came to know forbidden - and never looked back. This back was huge back in the day, never getting the credit they deserved.
They owned every Power Metal band with those 3 songs. So deep and theatrical! For me this even better than anything Sanctuary or Nevermore have ever done. Which means a lot.
have you seen the video where Warrel sings The Year The Sun Died but with acoustic. I know what you mean man. The Vibe is there, Warrel is my favorite lyricist and singer but this forbidden album is straight damn solitude
Lyrics: fighting with my self you see has brought me to reality you care not for my kind hate consumed my virgin mind I stand alone in shameful lies accused of dealing others crimes first to cast the stone last to be alone oh god, look down at me you see my tears they are falling reach down, down, take me now you feel the pain within pain, within me all alone, expect nothing from me turn away, escape reality ohhhh can't stand the pain, pain within me... can't stand the pain pain within me... pain within me... oh god, look down at me you see my tears they are falling reach down, down, take me now you feel the pain pain, within me...
Guys ... trust me cause I was there when they released their 1st album up till the end , yeah ? What was happening in the Metal community had nothing to do with this . This is excellent , obviously , but it would had gone completely ignored back then . Thanks for posting , this is excellent !
As I remember this was done while Paul Bostaph was still in the band. He split for Slayer shortly there after, and I got the impression in talking to Craig at the time that they kind of wanted to have a fresh start with new material.
Forbidden are one of my all time favorite bands and prior to tonight I'd never heard any of the songs from this cd. Most seem a bit slower and not quite constructed fully. I understand why these songs haven't made it on any of their releases. This should really be put out as a studio out takes type of thing, or is that what this is? Eitherway, pretty cool...
I can see why they never released this song- good but but not up to their high standard- they obviously agreed - as never put on an album. Looking forward to seeing them again in a month or so. :)
SYNAPTIK these demos are not easy to even play dude.... it’s the dark, melancholic feel, and the amazing musicianship. If you hear every note going on.... it’s actually really well thought out..... nothing beat the Twisted in Form/Trapped/Distortion/Green era!! Just be open to all sorts of things.... that’s how bands progress.
barfface4000 you haven’t given Distortion a chance and I hope you did now.... cuz it’s an amazing album. No Reason, Hypnotized By The Rhythm, distortion, Rape, Minds I.

Probably one of the most beautiful metal ballads ever is the true definition of the sadness.....
This band will always be one of the best, but this demo/EP (?) is a real hidden gem.
This may not be on an album, but this is one of their most mature tracks. If only Paul and the rest of this line up stuck around just long enough for this demo to become an album.
The time was just wrong for them and anybody with talent at this point....sad times...

Lyrics:
fighting with my self
you see
has brought me to reality
you care not for my kind
hate consumed my virgin mind
I stand alone in shameful lies
accused of dealing others crimes
first to cast the stone
last to be alone
oh god, look down at me
you see my tears
they are falling
reach down,
down, take me now
you feel the pain
within
pain, within
me
all alone,
expect nothing from me
turn away,
escape reality
ohhhh
can't stand the pain,
pain within me...
can't stand the pain
pain within me...
pain within me...
oh god, look down at me
you see my tears
they are falling
reach down,
down, take me now
you feel the pain
pain, within
me...
to the Guitarist I learned all that I know RIP Tim Calvert.
the beginning guitar riff feels so calm and sad to me.
Such an amazing song!
I never knew that this even existed !!!! Bad ass

These guys totally had and still have it goin' on!!
killer licks 🎸
I've seen Forbidden so many times in New England!
Definately got that "twisted into form" sound...I think it could've fitted nicely mid way through that album and made even more of an all-time classic
Stu B all thanks to the dearest Tim Calvert
Cool song
my sorrow is my own
by the way, my favorite Forbidden song.
Damn..... this brings back memories :)
tim calvert and craig locicero.....DYNAMIC DUO

@@MegadethAcdclover agreed. But I'll agree with the band. Not for the album. We both agree.
@@snakepitguy IYO of course.
it's a great song. But I agree with the band, not for the album.
Cool
The Metal Ark of the Covenent. Within it lay ten commandments of metal.
I have some kind of Korean fan version of this CD with more tracks...
Travesty that this was never released...
i call this condemned metal
No Lyrics =(
it sounds like Iron Maiden, Forbidden ROCKS!!!
metallkrik ,Duuhh !!!! Both are completely different bands, wonder how you are comparing them to maiden, ?????
I wish the lyrics of this song... Some words i cant understand because my main idiom is Spanish... :/
this would be very good if the recording wasnt such bad quality. i can barely heard the guitar.
jeez
@bblitz00
I completly agree distortion blows along with green
The first two are great

@@MegadethAcdclover and some boring songs.... but at leadt it's good comparing to CRAPPY "green"

Doom
@DreamNeonBlack
Because both those records suck
