- fishing in downtown Chicago along the Chicago River walk and Chicago River is a must if your visiting town, this place is full of massive fish and multiple different species and easier to catch than you thank today I give you some tips on how we caught fish here.
Rod and reel - Penn fierce 3 combo 4000 size reel (medium extra fast)
20 Lb braid with 7 feet of 20 Lb monofilament leader
size 2 euro pro hook and small split shot sinker
Good job!
Gotta love those Chicago river tugboats(carp)😂
Is it necessary to release it.? Or can I take it.? 🤔
You can take it, but it’s really dirty water in the river
Its carp, an invasive species. You can kill it and let the seagulls eat it. As a ntive Chicagoan, i Wouldnt eat anything from the Chicago River
I live in Chicago and been fishing for carp my whole life! Carp are the best fighting fish out there! We call them the fresh water tarpon🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m coming back next month hope to get on some more
@@RiverBloodfishing the only down side of fishing at that spot is people start to crowd around you when you hook a fish? I know they mean well but sometimes it gets to be much🤔 but good luck on your next trip and hope you catch a monster!! My PB at that spot is 37lb!
That’s so funny… we call them the gay man’s tarpon
Those 2 corn cob-shaped buildings that were across the river from you are a very historic Chicago Landmark called Marina City which makes the location where you were fishing from right next to the N Walbash Bridge.
Thanks for the info couldn’t figure out what those buildings were called I do remember seeing them in the transformers movie I believe
And on an episode of American Greed.
I know the spot well. You can expect a crowd for sure if you hook up there. That drag was screaming. Good luck out there.
That Kayak was clueless. I don’t mind watching but they needed to get the hell away.
I thought you weren’t supposed to release carp back since it’s invasive?
@@EDy3621 I had to look into it myself these common carp from the river are ok to release they are not invasive according to google
That’s the Asian carp that you are thinking of.
😮
Carp are a beautiful looking fish
What are the characteristics of the equipment you use.?
I prefer 15 lb braid with 15 pound fluorocarbon leader with a rod that’s 7 feet long medium fast or medium extra fast but sometimes they get line shy in this river they see a lot of fishing you may have to use smaller line to trick them into biting
Got it
I just found your channel 😮 I LOVE IT
Can you do an update video on markland dam?
I’ll be there soon
@@RiverBloodfishingcool, I been wanting to go there but I’m like 2 hr alway, and wanting to target some white bass but idk when they there
@@CloudFT it’s best in the spring and fall, there are some there but not in great numbers, the bite starts to pick up around September, I also catch them this time of year from a boat but at night around barges with lights that attract bait fish
@@RiverBloodfishingoh okay thanks for the advice! Can’t wait to see you go back there! Subbed
Be safe
