*detaches jetpack* *IS STILL FUCKING FLYING* That is the reason why I love this series. You can do absolutely ANYTHING if you just scream, shout and force your will through. Any. Fucking. Thing.
OP put it better by noting the AOE nature of the attack... but that doesn't change that Maximum would be the better MAP attack (because it extends outwards in all directions). Another good MAP idea is the Skullbreaker variant they did in Episode 4, but that episode is of debatable canonicity, so...
its right there in the clip title: Super Robot Taisen Z2 Saisei-hen. I recommend you do a quick search on the net about the game and the frachise if you feel interested in mecha games.
I'm all for the idea of punching something out of existence, but Gurren Lagann is the only series I've seen so far where they're quite so...literal about it.
Ah, well, the anime you like the most would definitely be the first one you ever watched and liked. So, some newer people to mecha anime would like newer stuff like 00 and TTGL. I did go ahead and watch Getter and Mazinger, and it was great.
It's real: Super Robot Wars Z2: Saisei Hen, only released in Japan, but it's for the PSP which is not region locked. If you want pre-timeskip though, you'll need SRW Z2: Hakai Hen, of which this is a sequel too. Both games also feature various other super robot animes, such as Shin Mazinger Z, Getter Robo Armageddon, and Code Geass, just to name ones I'm familiar with.
...a similar issue arose with Valcazard in SRT-W(2007 - Nintendo DS); a combination of multiple units, it's sheer size(was rated as 2L, but was likely much bigger) meant it could easily clear entire maps on it's own...it may still, indeed, be the largest player-controllable unit in SRT history to date...but I haven't seen all of this game, so I could be wrong, heh.... :D
lt flies because of this hover-orb thing that was attached to the jet that he jacked to make the wings. So as long as the orb is still attached to Gurren's back he's fine. And its Double Boomerang
As with every other attack, if you equip the part that overrides the terrain stat (the specific S terrain modules, as well as A-Type and S-Type) will allow the attack to be used in those terrains, even if it wasn't possible before.
Arc-Gurren Lagann was AWESOME! Would be EPIC if Banpresto made a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann video game! Even if it too would remain in Japan, I would still watch it on TH-cam! XD
Actually, Domon was voiced by Tomozaku Seki in Japanese and Mark Gatha in English while Kamina was voiced by Katsuyuki Kinishi in Japanese and Kyle Hebert in English.
The entire finale of GL took place in the Anti-Spiral universe (made clear multiple times in the series.) And when it does appear, it's going to be an event battle with just TTGL and Anti-Spiral on the field.
Correct. It's including all the GBA games, and other things and a mangga too!, except J which will get in the next OG game. I'm guessing they want Touya and Calvina to get a larger portion of story time(since they couldn't fit their story in it seems this time) and try and handle the 3 girl thing for them. They may scrap it and have Festina play a larger role than the other girls since she was the first one to pilot with Touya. W, K, and L may be connected to J's plot as well.
Also " Gundam Wing Endless Waltz is as described: A convenient filler series used to pad out a roster due to the fact it adds a decent amount of pilots, has a storyline that can be used to jump start a plot, and it's own plot line does not have to have much impact on an actual game as a whole. As a result, Banpresto uses it as filler because of its easyness to implement."
I guess just so they can. "Hey guys, sorry about no Tengen Toppa, so you get to keep all the lovely old moves too!" And to be fair, I wouldn't have kept SIK out. That reference was just too awesome. Gurren Boomerang, lotsa drills and Sunglasses Cutter, I agree with you though.
Don't think my 1st reply went through...but Valcazard isn't -that- big...while still noticeably larger than normal unit-carrier ships such as the Nadesico or White Base, it looks like CT now holds that title!
Look at the video. You have: - A manly kick - A giant drill - Lots of giant drills - Two manly pilots - A mech that can punch a hole through space-time And you worry about gravity?
I say debatable canonicity because things in that episode have been outright retconned. (just to name a single example, Kittan notes that only Beastmen pilot Gunmen... except according to Parallel Works, he HAD King Kittan in the works at that point) It HAPPENED, that we know, but not in the exact way they presented it. And since they went off the movies, it's debatable that anything in the show happened except the Toriadal Burst and the Inazuma Kick (which IIRC were show exclusive)
Finally found the proof of my last reply Quoted from TVTropes' SRW Headscratchers: "As I understand (Having never watched neither Gundam Wing nor Endless Waltz), the former's plot is a bit hard to adapt, while the latter can be easily thrown in as a filler series to increase the playable roster."
i knew they wouldnt do it. if TTGL and the final battle were in the game this would happen 1) it would be broken 2)it would mess up the GALAXY even more than it already is 3)it would be impossible to do for the other characters to help(though 1 on 1 sounds cool) 4)and i know some of the characters are not gonna let something that much power exist and may end up a unofficial and entirely misplaced final boss in one of the multiple endings
I WAS going to be mad that Arc-Gurren Lagann is only an attack... then it punched a hole into nothing. Now I don't care and just love them for having that.
Personally, I had a feeling they weren't going to give us the full war against the Anti-Spirals just yet (Probably saving it for Z3), though I was hoping Simon and Viral would have a 'JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINKING I AM?!!!' MAP attack. You know, the one from the series where they blew up a fleet of Mugan with the sheer power of awesomeness?
Yes, we know that. However, Gurren Lagann has its own essence, and is good in its own right. As one guy said in another vid, they intended it to be a homage, but made it more epic than the series it was based on.
To be fair, ending TTGL storyline in Saisei hen WILL feel redundant I mean, remember one of the most memorable part of TTGL ? Remember that we ALSO have Shin Mazinger that have pretty much same events and it is included in this game ? yeah
Then I'm guessing there's no chance the army of Tengen Toppa Gunmen from the second movie will be showing up in this one. Well, I guess I can't say that would be terribly fair, but I'm still a little bummed about it.
You know the scale of the map can vary, right? They're almost certainly just going to have an Anti-Spiral universe map and slap STTGL (this is the movie version, after all,) and the Anti-Spiral on it in an event battle. Because really, nothing from any other show would be a remote threat to CGGL, much less TTGL.
actually if you read Shin Getter Robo (the manga where Benkei dies) there are 3 Getter Battleships that combine to become Getter Emperor and are controlled by Ryoma
THIS DRILL OF MINE SPINS WITH AN AWESOME POWER IT'S LOUD HUM TELLS MY TO PIERCE THE HEAVENS TAKE THIS MY COURAGE MY WILL POWER AND ALL OF MY SPIRAL GIGA DRILL BREAKER!!! Domon:Son I am proud
To everyone that thinks Gurren Laggan is "Best mecha ever" I seriously do hope you know that it is basically a homage to other mecha/super robot shows, mainly Getter Robo
This is for PSP (seriously, how could you think this is DS?) Here's a rundown for you. A BIG SRW release typically ships about 250k units in the first week with lifetime sales in the 500k range. The biggest sales for any SRW title ever were Impact, totalling 646,244. A BIG Final Fantasy release goes over 5 million units sold. A typical VC rerelease of a FF game sells many times more than even a big SRW release. It's a niche game for a niche audience even in Japan. It's not getting AAA budgeting.
there are two other forms but they are just size ups to the grey one. the one bigger in super galaxy gurren lagann which is the size of a moon and the next one is tengen toppa gurren lagann which is a galaxy and in the movie lagann hen there is super tengen toppa gurren lagann which is just fuckin huge like universe sized
i can admit bellcross is badass but idk i like spiral energy better than heroic soul stone....thingys? Also you have to admit simon being able to control the power that created the universe is one of the coolest things you could ever see. dont know what im talking about (just in case) here's a refresher "INFINITY BIG BANG STORM!"
If only we could go beyond the awesomeness and kick licensing red-tape to the curb. I suppose that's how Team Dai-Gurren would roll if they were a localization team.
better be a second season in 2014 or atlease an ova, like the separte universe that Kamina was in.. OR OUR WORLD where Kamina still is kamina's badass clothes in our universe.
As unfortunate as it is, I doubt anything beyond Arc Gurren Lagann will featured. Balance issues would definitely be a major concern. In the current roster, you can't have anything big enough to destroy a GALAXY, now, can you?
I guess the presence of (Super) Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann would break the game disc to a billion pieces. Hell, why do you think Gurren Lagann for the NDS only has Gurren Lagann and not his upgrades? Still... I WANT TENGEN TOPPA!!!
Because scale doesn't matter here, any M-sized units are only a head shorter than LL-sized units like Baldios, Daitarn 3 and God Sigma among others. If you watch it carefully, you'll notice that the Arc Gurren Lagann is larger than the Cathedral Terra.
The only problems I have with the movies is that there is virtually no characterization in the first movie, so Kamina's death is a little less meaningful. Second, in the Lagann-Hen movie Simon doesn't punch Rossiu the same way as he did in the series. Other than that the second movie is awesome.
I was hoping for Arc to be an upgrade, Chouginga to be a gattai, TTGL as another upgrade and CTTGL as a team attack. The Arc-Gurren Lagann attack is nice, but I'm sad there's nothing more. Or maybe it's a secret unit...?
Ah yes, forgot about that. But then, you reminded me of another thing. Why are they keeping so many Season 1 attacks? Gurren Boomerang and the attack where he shoots a lot of drills is easily replaced by Double Boomerang and Giga Drill Maximum. Super Inazuma Kick and Sunglasses Cutter are unecessary.
Heroic Age Bellcross can punch ANYTHING HE PUNCHED *NOTHING* OUT OF EXISTENCE, BECAUSE IT WAS IN HIS WAY!!! ....and Black holes, he punched them out too
See, it's due to Cathedral Lazengann being the same size as Arc Gurren Lagann in this game that they cannot go any further, unfortunatly. Seriously, Cho Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann would end up being the same size as an enemy battleship unless a close up was done like in Alpha 3 with the Goldion Crusher
if the koryouh were too fight the gurren lagann the destruction caused would probably be comparable to that of wodan and sanger fighting one on one at full force.
I wouldn't be as upset about Gurren Lagann if they reworked the attacks. They just recycled moves from Hakai-hen and added Giga Drill Maximum and Arc- Gurren Lagann.
Other shonen heroes do the impossible. Only Simon can do beyond the impossible.
That is honestly the best description of Gurren Lagann I have ever heard.
Congratulations, sir.
You have made my month.
*detaches jetpack*
*IS STILL FUCKING FLYING*
That is the reason why I love this series. You can do absolutely ANYTHING if you just scream, shout and force your will through. Any. Fucking. Thing.
I'm surprised at the lack of attacks that are merely badass poses and speeches that make things explode from awesome.
Gurren Lagann motto is: Fuck Physics, we're awesome.
OP put it better by noting the AOE nature of the attack... but that doesn't change that Maximum would be the better MAP attack (because it extends outwards in all directions).
Another good MAP idea is the Skullbreaker variant they did in Episode 4, but that episode is of debatable canonicity, so...
I love it. Love it so much.
They reenacted it. They hit her so hard, she hit "nothing" and broke it.
God, I love GL.
Kick copyright laws to the curb and release Super Robot Taisen for the West! That's how the Team Dai-Gurren localization team rolls!
1:29 Gurren lagann just punched the face out of a faceless machine. THAT is awesome!
Dude no lie, the Gurren lagann theme in this game is fucking hype
its right there in the clip title: Super Robot Taisen Z2 Saisei-hen. I recommend you do a quick search on the net about the game and the frachise if you feel interested in mecha games.
Ah, yes. Have the sword bits spin around the GN Sword V to produce a GN Field. Turn on Trans-AM and you have a drill.
pfff, SCREW GRAVITY, my drill will pierce the heavens!
I'm all for the idea of punching something out of existence, but Gurren Lagann is the only series I've seen so far where they're quite so...literal about it.

Both games also feature various other super robot animes, such as Shin Mazinger Z, Getter Robo Armageddon, and Code Geass, just to name ones I'm familiar with.
Rememberr the first Giga drill break? He managed to fly there, too.
The wings just help with balance, careful steering, etc.
...a similar issue arose with Valcazard in SRT-W(2007 - Nintendo DS); a combination of multiple units, it's sheer size(was rated as 2L, but was likely much bigger) meant it could easily clear entire maps on it's own...it may still, indeed, be the largest player-controllable unit in SRT history to date...but I haven't seen all of this game, so I could be wrong, heh.... :D
There are two sets of lines for that last attack. You can find the other set with the correct timing in another vid.
lt flies because of this hover-orb thing that was attached to the jet that he jacked to make the wings.
KICK LOGIC TO THE CURB AND DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Its a crime srw z-z2 was never translated into english when they came oit

1:13 Gurren Lagann is so badass that it can both look at AND away from explosions!
I was not expecting Double Boomerang! And then Giga Drill Maximum and Arc-Gurren Lagann Burst Spinning Punch completed it :D
Drill Break (MAP) - (0:01)
Inokuma Kick/ Super Inazuma Kick/ Straight Line Kick/ Gurren Lagan Kick (0:17)
Sun Glasses Boomerang (0:42)
Explosion Slash (1:02)
Scar Break (1:26)
Double Boomerang (1:48)
Fulldrillized (2:33)
GIGA DRILL MAXIMUM! (3:05)

Looks like Simon's got himself a little training from the School of the Undefeated of the East.
I say debatable canonicity because things in that episode have been outright retconned. Nia is mandatory save in z2.2 as Gurren Lagann's story is not finished in z2.2 and is being set up to finish in Z3 as they fight Ba-al.
PUNCH WARSHIP MADE OUT OF BLOCKS, GUNMEN SKELETON POPS OUT OF IT
THAT IS THE POWER OF DAI GURREN BRIGADE!
Finally found the proof of my last reply
Quoted from TVTropes' SRW Headscratchers:
"As I understand (Having never watched neither Gundam Wing nor Endless Waltz), the former's plot is a bit hard to adapt, while the latter can be easily thrown in as a filler series to increase the playable roster."

Well, if you think about it's similar to an AOE attack and not a focused single target attack.
Actualy it still need a Wing, because its supposed to be a Homage to Great Mazinger(which means GL actualy have a Wing inside its back)
I WAS going to be mad that Arc-Gurren Lagann is only an attack... then it punched a hole into nothing. Now I don't care and just love them for having that.

There's the Yoko M Tank, the two Graparl units, I think King Kittan is still there, and GL itself. At least, those are what I know of.
Yes, we know that. However, Gurren Lagann has its own essence, and is good in its own right. As one guy said in another vid, they intended it to be a homage, but made it more epic than the series it was based on.

Getter Emperor is only shown as a battleship that looks like an oversized Getter 1 head in the anime.
one thing that bugs me the only thing I wish they would have drawn or whatevered the mugen a bit different than all the other sprites
You know the scale of the map can vary, right? They're almost certainly just going to have an Anti-Spiral universe map and slap STTGL (this is the movie version, after all,) and the Anti-Spiral on it in an event battle. Lol almost every one of his attacks one-hit killed the enemy from full health. XD
They have several quotes.....one of them being the one from the anime.
actually if you read Shin Getter Robo (the manga where Benkei dies) there are 3 Getter Battleships that combine to become Getter Emperor and are controlled by Ryoma
Arc Gurren Lagann is bigger than Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann here.
...
FIGHTING SPIRIT!

Well Gurren Lagann did debut in z2.1 for the first time ever. He'll get the rest of his attacks in Z3.
Ah well, the best is yet to come I suppose

The explosions generate explosions that fuse in a giant explosion to make an enemy explode... Gravi what?
No, he has a ace bonus, but he has no stats and cannot gain any PP.
Also you cannot switch pilots.
This video's alt title: Gurren Lagann's Boomy Booms of Boom Collection
Oh man I want this game
Gurren Lagann hahahahaha EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Well, it's not all bad. It'll most likely mean the return of White Reflection to SRW (was the last time it showed up in Alpha Gaiden?).
The only problems I have with the movies is that there is virtually no characterization in the first movie, so Kamina's death is a little less meaningful. Second, in the Lagann-Hen movie Simon doesn't punch Rossiu the same way as he did in the series. Other than that the second movie is awesome.
A mushroom cloud in space... now THAT'S original.
Wait... So... Kittan doesn't have to die, and Nia lives! Hooray!
Well, there's always Z2.3 or Z3.... Guess they want to save the Gurren Lagann thing for the series finale.
Getter Emperor is only the size of Earth, TTGL is orders of magnitude larger.
I was hoping for Arc to be an upgrade, Chouginga to be a gattai, TTGL as another upgrade and CTTGL as a team attack. The Arc-Gurren Lagann attack is nice, but I'm sad there's nothing more. Or maybe it's a secret unit...?
Gurren Lagann starting off with Izuma Kick.
Well shit...
This earns the gummi bear molestation award for being FUCKING SWEET
Ah yes, forgot about that.
But then, you reminded me of another thing. Why are they keeping so many Season 1 attacks? Gurren Boomerang and the attack where he shoots a lot of drills is easily replaced by Double Boomerang and Giga Drill Maximum. Super Inazuma Kick and Sunglasses Cutter are unecessary.
THAT'S THE F@#KING POWER OF GURREN LAGANN!!!!!!!
and those 3 making an epic brofist
HOLY OUT OF SCALE. Not that I care it's still AWESOME
While all the Gundam kids just stand there and stare out of pure WTF?
Heroic Age
Bellcross can punch ANYTHING
HE PUNCHED *NOTHING* OUT OF EXISTENCE, BECAUSE IT WAS IN HIS WAY!!!
....and Black holes, he punched them out too

no super galaxy dai gurren and tengen toppa gurren lagann or super tengen toppa gurren lagann atk?..
Rgoid doesn't know Kamina is played by Domon's VA.
Because it's GL's signature move. Plain and simple.
if the koryouh were too fight the gurren lagann the destruction caused would probably be comparable to that of wodan and sanger fighting one on one at full force.
I wouldn't be as upset about Gurren Lagann if they reworked the attacks. They just recycled moves from Hakai-hen and added Giga Drill Maximum and Arc- Gurren Lagann.
They decided to shrink to model of the Chouginga for some reason.
HELL YEA!!! JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE!?!?! >:D
wow, this game finally put Simon in this swr!
