Great job. The Jacks were chasing silver mullet here.--I was on the pier with some tourist guests, and the fly rod was at home. I'll be out there on the beach soon with your version, which I am sure will elicit some explosions!!! Thanks from the ol' "Noslimeslinger"!!

What was the point of cutting that big chunk off in the beginning? With these materials, since you're doubling them over anyway, it really pays to only start with what you are going to use, rather than take out more than you need, lopping off a big chunk, and throwing it away

I thought I was the only old dude here. We use to use sparkplugs for fishing weights, Mighty Mississippi.

It's a material called Softex and is available at many fly shops. It's a flexible coating that will hold the fibers in place without adding a lot of weight. You'll notice that Ron used it sparingly - just enough to keep the fibers from becoming unruly.

I didn't provide a materials list as he describes them in the video. Basically a saltwater hook of the appropriate size; Puglisi , Slinky Fiber or similar fiber and thread ( he uses Steve Farah's fiber).

jTarry Oh Peng Yew don't give up yet. check any craft store for macrame cord (normally made in China). Cut into 8 inch lengths, separate the 7 'strands', then brush them out. Same thing as Puglisi fiber. A dog brush works great for brushing them out.
