I want to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to watch another one of my videos. I think I’ve done just about all the build related videos I can do for now. Time to have some fun and show off actually how I’m using the truck camper on fun adventures, cooking, exploring and day in the life videos. 😁
Dude this is such an awesome build. I’m currently building my own camper that sits on the rails of my truck bed, this is one of the better build outs I’ve seen on TH-cam. Hope you’re well!
I also use a towel when it rains really hard for a slow dribble in my old crawl thru boot. This boot is still working fine since purchasing it in 1992. Its not a full window boot -- it just fits the sliding window opening. My older canopies had the sliding side windows like yours. They are useless when it rains or snows. So I cutout a plexiglass sheet to fit the window opening (when fully opened) with a 2 inch overlap bolted thru so that the window was securely locked shut. Then I installed a small vent in the plexiglass that I can leave open even in the rain and snow. My newest canopy has mini louver windows instead, I still use an icebox but I like your flat solar panels and will look into them and perhaps a refrigerator.
Glad to see videos coming back out and seeing that you are doing well! Truck looks amazing! But I'll always be a warthog lover, I had to sell mine and sold the rv. We moved to the east coast on the adventure a new life from California. Much love from the Golden corner of SC!
Thank you for the update! You could always add another solar panel to the cab of your truck if needed. Or a portable panel. I’m sure you’ve already thought of these. I love your truck setup!
@@will35010 Hey there, thanks for checking out the video. I have thought about possible solar add-ons and the cab roof is for sure an option. After all, the connection and hole going through the topper roof are right there next to the cab for an easy connection. 👍 We’ll see how it goes this summer, but I did wake up this morning with 89% battery, so no issues when chasing 70. 😁
That's a sweet looking build. I've done a truck camper build in my short bed truck that has a trifold bed in it that converts from sofa to bed in seconds and i sleep diagonally.
Hey Thanks! Diagonal is the way to go with a short bed. 👍 I considered them as well as 8’, but finally settled on 6.5’. Just enough room for me to stretch in the morning and touch the tailgate with my toes. 😁
Great video Troy, thanks for sharing. We took the Astro van to Death Valley NP on the 4th of July break. It was 128* Hey, I was asking on FB Messenger, maybe you could post here. Is it best to cut the sheet metal on the roof before I insulate the roof? I am going to insulate the van with four layers. In my mind it would be better to cut the hole in the roof before insulating. I worry, however, that once the insulation is installed it would be difficult to cut the hole in the roof sheet metal. Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing videos of your travels. Scott
@@DarronSanderson OMG!! That is HOT!! I’ve never been to Death Valley NP. What did you do while there? As for the van, I would install everything on the roof (fans, solar..etc) before installing the insulation. Our process has always been to try to do the exterior stuff first. It’s way harder to clean up metal shaving from cutting holes when you already have stuff in the van. 👍
Thanks, Troy for the knowledge on the best way to install the fan. The main goal to do the drive from AZ to Death Valley was just to take a pic of the tempastat and it said 128. ☀️ The signs around there alone are worth the trip. “Lowest election”, “Sea Level”, “High Temp Warning Death possible”. The view from Zabriskie Peak was surreal and majestic. Lucius filmed Star Wars scenes there. The thermostat is at “Furnace Creek”.
The efforts that go into making these videos! It's hard to appreciate the details from where I sit until you showed the behind the scenes. I understand that the editing is not a quick task either. Any chance that second fan's blade is striking something? If not, is it a problem with the bearing?
Honestly, this video was way easier to make than my previous videos in Houston. It’s just so hard to find a quiet spot in a large city, that I found myself doing voiceovers to eliminate most of the background noise. Very time consuming. Here, there wasn’t a soul within 2 miles of me. 😁 Zero distractions. 👍 I came to the same conclusion on the dome fan. I used canned air from inside and out to try and blow out a possible blockage, with no luck. Must be the bearing. If this was my desk fan, I would naturally just take it apart and find the issue, but with it sealing a large hole in my roof, I’ll let it be for now. 😉 Thanks for continuing to follow along. 👍
@@kathrynarnold1966 I can visually see that the fan blade spins without obstruction. If I were to take the lid off 😬 and inspect it from the roof, I may see what is causing the issue. The increased noise is coming from the motor, bearing or something caught on the upper portion of the fan. It currently is very far down on my todo list. 😁

@@TravelingTroy Can you get a finger or pencil eraser on one of the fan blades to see if it spins freely without rubbing anywhere?
