I can definitely appreciate him learning to do a front handspring for this video. Good on you, brother. However, the really incredible part of that type of throw-in is that the thrower has to have both feet planted on the ground before the ball can be released due to the game rules. That means letting go of the ball before landing on your feet is technically an illegal throw. Still great job learning the trick, my friend!!

I tried an offensive flying scorpion for a goal already back in 1981/82 before that freak goalie made it known. I did it because it was the only way for me to reach the ball under the circumstances. My soles only brushed the ball and it went dead. Was scolded by my teammates (a guy behind me would've had a good chance for a header), and I never tried it again although I thought it was a good idea.

When I was a kid playing football in street I was really bad and played for fun. One of the games went to penalty shout outs and the last kick was on me, If it's in, we win.
So I kicked a desperate ball toward the center, the goalkeeper underestimated me so severely that he tried to save it by a scorpion kick. He did save it, the ball went up and then all the way down to the goal. We won, everyone cherished me ans it's still one of my finest childhood memories.

It's all instinct. If you played sport of any level you'd know those moments where everything is just right and set up for one specific skill, at which point all the player has to do is do the move. If you go out on a football pitch and say you'll score a scorpion, more often than not, you won't, no matter how hard your try it really comes down to what the situation calls for and professional players usually have the instincts and skill to carry these moves out

Good stuff! The only thing which I’d like to add is that these original moves are being made in the moment and instinctively, because I think that they feel the ball already before they get it, and their brain sometimes realizes the move as the best possible solution for the given situation. They just do it because they fully feel the ball and the position of their bodies. That’s why it’s a bit hard to recreate some of these.

Regarding the flip through, you need to use your momentum to throw it. One thing I saw you doing was that you were trying to release it before you even got up. Once your body is almost fully up from the flip then you release so you can use the momentum of the flip to help powered throw further

My daughter was a competitive gymnast from 4 to 11yo. When she stopped and moved to football (she had already been a part of a club since she was 6) her coach the first day after changing focus asked her to try this. Her coach didn’t want to ask before so she wasn’t hurt unnecessarily. Got it her first go and is now the throw in person any where on the pitch. As center mid, she has 8 goals from these alone because as long as it hits even an opposing player before going in, goal. She will launch it to the goal and sometimes a defender will try to clear it, bounces off them and past their own goalie for an own goal.
