As a Brit, I have always found it absolutely unbelievable that Americans get taxed by the IRS when they work abroad. Thank god we don't get that treatment! The older I get, the more I understand that all forms of tax are theft.
@@tsjoencinema I love my American cousins deeply, even though I've never been there. I think a lot of Brits (and Europeans) look down on the Americans for being 'stupid', but that really says more about us than about them. The Yanks that I've met have been highly intelligent.

I was driving in Southern California just listening to that video. and during that video, I had one of those rare breakthrough realizations that this channel is just filled with gem after gem. Firstcels are so cooked. Also, the ship coin strategic reserve is cringe. All they had to do was promote Bitcoin. C’mon, Trump- you can do *so much better.*
Prefect (from the Latin praefectus, substantive adjectival form of praeficere: "put in front", meaning in charge)[1] is a magisterial title of varying definition, but essentially refers to the leader of an administrative area.
Your voice and wisdom are more precious than ever Matt. Thank you once again . When will we understand that greed is not an answer to our individual insecurities? I don’t know but I know BTC doesn’t care …
He only does things to enrich himself... Poor Melania shitcoing going to 0.001 soon If you want to support his shenanigans and profit from them, watch his own space and jump on and off it as soon as you can. Of course he would not make BTC a US reserve...it would kill the $
No, I think that it just belies a fundamental misunderstanding of crypto and bitcoin. I think Trump and Sacks think that BTC is just the leading crypto asset, and do not understand that BTC is in a category of its own. They’ll learn in time….everyone eventually does.
Exactly what I expected from Trump. He has a very vague understanding of bitcoin and on top he is a billionaire who will do favours for his buddies. Most likely, the Trump coin will become part of the strategic reserve to please his ego. If USD stablecoins are being controlled by the US government, then that would be effectively a CBDC, just named differently. Everything said during this champaign was simply to get votes.
In my opinion it would have been better had Kamala won. Would it have been ‘harder’ on bitcoin? Yes. Would the btc price be as high as today? No. Outside of ‘freeing Ross’ (probably a good thing) bitcoin would have had more time to grow organically through education, and a ‘tougher’ sec would have done more to regulate unregistered securities (99% of crypto). That really isn’t happening now.
@@prancer1803 - probably, but we will never know. It is very unfortunate that the legal position apparently depends on who runs the SEC - one would have hoped that the securities law regulations (i.e. the Howey test) should regulate crypto regardless of who is in power. My personal view on this is the same as before the election - don´t put your trust in any politician and keep on stacking bitcoin.
yeah chamath helped at facebook, got everyone addicted and hating one another on that platform and he himself wont let his own kids use it. this is the same person selling everyone on SOL
Can you talk about the risk of centralisation of BTC mining. I saw that the same mining company managed to get 7 blocks in a row: is that a danger to BTC decentralisation essence? Thanks
You’re 100% right. I own XRP, but it’s not capable of being a reserve currency. Who should control the bitcoin reserve? The treasury or the federal reserve?
No. The proposed " Stockpile" is the potential ship coin vessel. The SBR " LUMMIS BILL has nothing to do with these " Digital Assets"😂 . Bitcoin ONLY. So much confusion out there!!!
Thank you for the great videos! I am still learning every day, but regarding cap gains tax, you are speaking about having it treated like a currency? So it is taxed when used for transactions like sales tax or if earned as income? That would lead to bitcoin being a non-taxed appreciating asset, making it an even better store of value while also easing the tax burden and hassles of using it as a medium of exchange? Something like Switzerland's model? Appreciate any perspective on this. Thanks again!
Great video. Thank you Mathew. Anyone wanting to add ship coins to a SR doesn’t understand btc.. It’s akin to thinking that adding rusty iron to Gold will increase its value….unbelievable and disappointing..
You are dreaming. Those bitcoins were stolen and will never be returned to him. Trump liberated him just because he is an opportunistic and not because he believes in freedom.
Thank you for the video Matthew. One question though, you often talk about how you want the Fed to be defunded for many reasons such as war mongering, which I absolutely agree with. However, if the US government fails then who will get power in the world? More authoritarian Socialist countries like China or Russia?
Thankyou Matthew, I'm a big fan of your channel ❤ Just a question on CBDCs? I'm forming the view that CBDCs do have a very good USE CASE. And that is to "turn the cameras inwards" and "surveil the use and flow of the people's tax money within government and government agencies". Ie. Full Accountability of Government, CBDCs for the government that are there to represent the People, for the People "Freedom Money" 🙏
Brilliant insights as always Matthew. Question: If the US DOES include Bitcoin as part of a strategic reserve, do you see that positively impacting Bitcoin’s future? I’m not speaking about the US’s stolen/confiscated Bitcoin, but new purchases. Thank you.
I'm not sure why anyone ever cheered this on in the first place.. Now Chamath and friends can REALLY cash in and gamble with other people's money. How's his track record these days? While we're at it, maybe Cuban and O'Leary can find some more limelight too 🧡
I hope Sacks doesn't poison Trump on Bitcoin. It may be easy to do when Trump observes maxis being what he perceives to be overbearing versus the truth that they are simply passionate people who believe in freedom money and understand we only have one chance to do this right.
Refer this channel to the Committee and Senator Lummis' offices. They'll better understand "digital gold" and why shipcoins have no place in America's Strategic Reserve.
I’m sure you know this Mat, but there is a foreign earned income exclusion up to roughly $130,000 with certain criteria for consecutive days spent outside the country, etc. For whatever it’s worth.
It’s interesting how many Bitcoiners were cheering for government to get into the Bitcoin business but the moment other cryptos got invited to the party they started whining! Moral of the story : don’t choose price pump by governments over decentralization! Bitcoin should stay distributed !
As a US citizen who's spent years living abroad, glad to see the expat tax thing finally getting a little attention. Year after year I've been infuriated & disgusted with how I'd not only have to *pay* taxes back home, but waste time and energy filing tax returns just to tell the US about everything I was doing, even when I never set foot in the country. Many banks in other countries won't even open accounts if you hold a US passport, because the US makes it such a hassle for the bank due to its insistence on sticking its nose in everything you do everywhere on earth. So I'd say not just "citizens should only be taxed if they're actually US residents", but "citizens should only have to file tax returns if they're actually US residents." Like most years I'd fall under the 2555 exclusion, so I wouldn't actually have to pay taxes on earned income abroad - but I'd still have to waste hours of my life telling the US about everything I earned. That's almost just as disgusting as the fact that they expect people to pay. The exit tax I agree is gross too, but I'd be willing to bet there will be far, far fewer people exiting if they got rid of the above. In my impression at least, having to file endless tax returns is almost the only reason people want to renounce.
I think i'm ok with an exit tax of some sort. If you benefit from our society and economy, it is not in our best interest to let people just take everything back to their home country. Fair or not, it's not the US people's job to give everyone else around the world a great deal. That being said, I think there could be some negotiation on a 24% tax rate on unrealized gains. That is quite significant.
