This is fine for wide staircases with big landings but the when the machine is tilted backwards the overall distance from front to back is far too big to turn on a small landing. The problem with these caterpillar tacks is that they make the base length of the machine too great.
Actually the machine isn't tilted backwards on the landing, it remains quite vertical and you can approach extremely tight landings. The tracks are underneath the loading platform, therefore they disappear under the volume of the load.
