It's so refreshing to see a pair of amazing drivers in a supercar race. Wow this is so much better than other motoring journalism. Tiff and Chris should work together more often, imagine this with the Grand Tour's production quality.

Check solomondrin's video. Speciale lost horribly from all the cars , including the RS.. Too bad, cause for me the Speciale is sex on wheels!!! I don't know if was objective test or not , but I believe Speciale showed its age against those "young guns"!!! 488 would have scored differently imo!!

Didn't exist when they filmed this.
Since Porsche always makes an RS version of the GT3 I don't know why they didn't wait for it.

An RS would blow the doors off that 458. Especially with the magnesium wheels. Frankly, this seemed like quite a low-speed track. I don’t think the GT3 could take advantage of its superior downforce capability on this track.
The race was rigged anyway. The way Tiff made that Ferrari sideways was only to slow it down.

Daniel Richardson I think it is great, that Chris has a "proper" platform. Especially now, that Top Gear tanked, Fifth Gear can catch up - especially with an amazing character like Harris.
The only thing is, that Fifth Gear isn't that good for Chris... I always thought, that it is just not as good as Top Gear, the jokes weren't that laughable, and the overall screen writing wasn't as sharp. Chris is coming to an established production team.
He made with /Drive some epic videos. I hope, that he just doesn't only "play" just another guy at Fifth Gear!

I really loved watching Tiff and Chris on track with those cars. Amazing and they truly looked like they were having a lot of fun.
I love how Tiff is the antithesis to "smoothness is key." That guy is straight bonkers and I admire his skill so much. Such a beast tamer!
Look how calm Chris is in the 911 GT3 and how much Tiff is fighting with the Speciale...you can see right there wich is the better car.

+e-hybrid 919LMP1 no, simply because ferrari's mechanical grip is seriously lacking! Has always been my gripe with Ferrari, I've owned a 458 and hated it in compared to my gt2 or mclarens ability to put down the power. The porsche chassis/suspension geometry is better, video shows just that
Martin C What do you mean Ferrari's have less mechanical grip? I admit the Porsche's AWD and AWS give it the advantage, and the chassis/suspension is better (not surprised because German), and I'm a proud Porsche fan and owner but I've have more fun in Ferrari's because of that reason. Porsche's are about serious stuff, lap times, setup. Ferrari's are just about driving pleasure. Speaking of putting down power, I heard from a racing driver named Randy Pobst that the 458 Italia and the F12 Berlinetta put power down quite brilliantly.
e-hybrid 919LMP1 as a previous owner, track guy, club racer and all around enthusiast.. Ferrari's are worst in its class for putting the usable power down to the pavement.. from experience, also. Once you are use to Porsche suspension geometry/chassis and rear engine grip over the rear axle/wheels, its not even a comparison. Ferraris are loose, you can see how much weight transfer there is in the special in this video, the 458 non special is 10x worse with body roll. I hate their magnetic suspension, always nervous and jittery, just like you see with tiff's steering inputs, always a correction! May be fun , however, it slower and inferior :) I like fun, but also a car that can do both and properly setup. My mclaren Mp4 is just like Porsche, SERIOUS mechanical grip (mechanical meaning advance chassis/suspension tuning) to be able to utilize its power properly ! Be well my friend :)
Martin C I've driven Ferrari's and Porsche's many times, I speak from my experiences with both great brands and I have to disagree. The 458 is an excellent car. It puts its power down really well! So does the 911, the 911 slightly puts its power down better. But Ferrari's are a very close 2nd to Porsche. I've driven a McLaren and an AMG, the AMG sucked at putting the power down whereas the McLaren was better but still not as good as Ferrari or Porsche.
Shaved a few years of Tiff's life there by the looks of it! Good game boys, keep it coming - this might actually get me to watch 5th Gear.

Amazing video guys! Glad to see those two excellent journalists together! ;) I'm not surprised by the result - it's very well known fact that 458 Speciale is faster car on the track (on all circuits in fact) and a much better car overall. Can't beat a Ferrari at what they're doing best in the world. Their track-focused V8 supercars are unmatched, just like the V12 and V8 elite limited hypercars.
Don't forget 360 Challenge Stradale vs 911 GT3, 430 Scuderia vs 911 GT3, 458 Speciale vs 911 GT3 and F40 vs 959, unmatched F50 in 90's together with F1 and Enzo vs Carrera GT. Ferrari have always made a better, more capable and more emotional, driver focused machine.

Delco S as the guy with the audi in the picture I have to say the Ferrari is faster right, but they are track focused cars to have fun on tracks, right? The Porsche does that job just aswell as the 458 IMO, both fill the same Niche in different price sectors.

***** Nope. The GT3 RS is quite quicker than the GT3. Not to mention the GT3 is heavier and has less power but yet it kept up with the Ferrari. Also, since it is a Ferrari, take out about 50hp and make the suspension less performance oriented and you have a customer Ferrari. Yeah, the Speciale is slower than a car that costs far less and has less performance on paper.

Interesting. The GT3 still manages to out maneuver the Ferrari in the twisties being a rear-engine car vs the Ferrari a mid-engine car. Says something about Porsche engineering.

Youve got to do a fair test with either a gt3 &458 or gt3rs&458 Speciale. That would be more professional and decisive.
This isn't a fair comparison. The 911 GT3 starting price is around $145,000. The Ferrari 458 Speciale starting price is $298,000.

I knew Chris was coming eventually. He kind of said it on Joe Rogan's podcast months ago.
I totally agree with Amine. There was no mention of them having to use the standard GT3 as the RS wasn't yet out. They compared the cost of the cars and said the GT3 was 1/2 the price. Of course it was as it wasn't the RS. Why did they not drop the 458 to the GTB instead of using the Speciale? Why did they not wait for teh GT3RS? Why did they not go back when the RS came out? I think, despite being a huge Ferrari fan, the Porssche came out really well and, had it been properly handicapped, would have been the winner. It was only really the Folly straight at Castle Combe that did save the Ferrari where its additional power and torque gained it a few seconds. Unless Chris is a better driver than Tiff, it seemed to me that the Porsche was much better 'planted' and less nervous trhough the bends than the Ferrari. As the 458 Speciale was the top of the line, track focussed, stripped out Ferrari of that time I wonder if it should not have been pitched against a Porsche GT2RS. I think we all know what the result would have been then.
