Ahhh... 1965 when my parents were young in Buffalo, New York some 400 miles from NYC. Wonder what they were doing when this was filmed? Busy with 2 kids and one on the way no doubt.... My parents were honest, peace loving and hard working class Americans in which I am so proud. My mom told me that the summer of 1965 was a perfect summer. She passed in August 2022. I miss my parents. Do you miss yours? Peace to all ✌
@@joselauzardojr.9283 Same here. My mother died 18 months ago at 90 and it hurts. My father is still alive at 91 but there's 'too much' from the past for us to be close.
Everything was made in America. We would get into Vietnam March 1965 to protect an airfield at Da Nang. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Byrds, Beach Boys most popular groups. American muscle cars ruled.
We visited the city on July 20, 21 and 22, 1965. We took in the World's Fair on the 20th, the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty on the 21st (when I rode on the subway for the very first time and fell in love with the system) and went on the Circle Line on the 22nd. The Astor Hotel and the old Met were still standing in '65, but would be gone two years later.
Crazy to think that the area shown in the first 25 seconds of this home movie would become part of NYC history by 1973 and world history by 2001. Care to guess the office complex that would be built on that site?😢❤
Hudson Terminal Buildings existed in this video. Tallest building for it time. Demolished as well as the train station serving the PATH to make way for the World Trade Center. It too was lost as well as the train station in 2001.
Awesome video. Congratulations!

This was filmed just before the beginning of the end.
When this was filmed, everything was wonderful other than the Vietnam war! I wish we could go back to these times minus the war.
@@robinbee7799 You're absolutely right. American culture had much more to offer back then.

Minha amada cidade, sempre linda e pulsando forte como um coração de um jovem sonhador e livre.🍺🍺🗿🗿
I'm Surprised the Singer Building was not induced into The National Register of Historic Places but unfortunately you can't fight progress.
You call that progress?
Penn Hotel RIP.

Crummy video, annoying music. By the way, I love New York, just not this.
Nobody really cares what you like. You are extremely insignificant in the grand scheme of life. You are but a tick on the ass of life.
