I'm pleased I didn't come on that one Jimmy, walking for ages till you found a decent spot. TBH, I prefer short wanders. Your a bit fitter than me so good on you for exploring further north, somewhere I've not been much. If it were me in your situation, I would have stealthed bivvied near the sheep and perhaps scored the unexpected bonus of a bit of company once it got dark, although I would be looking a bit sheepish when the shepherd arrived first light.

Hi Jimmy, thats the path i was turned away on, while i was checking the storm damage out, mind they were felling all the trees and lorry's were all over, clearing up after the storm. not at all like you to give so many locations away with descriptions etc, this is the side i will be exploring this week with the dogs, you did a great camp here with Rooney when you did a two day camp in the wood by the lake, shame about the top end but at least you ended up with a great camp with friends. keep em coming

Needs two more spans at least and if you want to be a real Royal Engineer Bridge Builder then, it needs a handrail too. 😉 I liked the webbing setup, what is it? Plus is your Bergan a short-back R.E. version so as not to sit on top of the webbing? WTF do you store at minus 24 deg. C. Penguins. Domestic Freezers are usually around minus 18 deg. C. and I'd need more than a T-Shirt to spend 10 minutes in there - you know when it is really cold, your snot freezes. 😁

Your all-up pack weight should ideally be one fifth of your body weight. I would guess you're carrying double that.
