The biggest thing I liked about the Constellation class is how thick the saucer section is, but the Eaglemoss model has it basically as thin as a normal saucer section. I'd like to buy it but that's the only thing holding me back.
Go with the Furuta version. Much better detailed, thick saucer, etc. I have both and the Furuta version is far superior.
No one can make a decent Constellation class properly, it seems.

Love this ship! Thanks so much for the detailed review. There are so few ships that are made from the motion picture designs, just the refit the Reliant and this ship. So it holds a special place in my heart for continuing that aesthetic that I think was the most realistic and graceful of all the eras.
Hope to get this ship in my home Fleet soon!
At least they made up for it by having a dozen different Miranda & Excelsior versions though haha. I'd like to see more in the late TOS and early TMP era too. I liked the Antares from TOS-R just because it was another Starfleet design for us...if a bit odd looking and a smallish model.
I've always loved this class of starship. I love TMP era ships. And just look at all that armament! So many torpedo launchers!

Funny, now I know why Galloob Micro Machines rubber Star Gazer was yellow! I always thought that odd, but never noticed Picard's ready room model!
Furuta are nice to but smaller. Some need slight repainting as the paint they use comes off easily. They are unassembled which is kinda fun.
One thing I did noticed with this model (which I have myself), is that the saucer section is not the right thickness. It should be twice as thick as the original kitbash was two saucers put together.
I agree captain...I always felt like the nacelles should be up and down as opposed to on their sides. 👍
I think they put them on their sides so they would be parallel with the saucer. Going vertical would make the ship a bit bulkier/give a larger profile.
I found one of these at Half-price Books. Very happy with it.
Bought mine for $13 during a pretty good EM webstore sale. For that? i am fine with it....beats the old Micromachines version at least, which was the only other Gazer model I had before (yes, bought by me in the early '90s because I'm old lol).
It seems pretty rare for them to actually send a model that isn't broken in some way. Having watched enough of these reviews I can now safely say that I'll never buy anything from eaglemoss.
Out of say 100 of these I've received, perhaps 6 came in with the glue not having stuck properly...no big deal, just a dot of fresh glue to stick together....and 3 or 4 were actually broken. EM is very laid back about replacements. Just call up, say something came in damaged, and they mail you a replacement w/o any questions. Honestly seems a bit too easy and i hope people don't spoil it for us by abusing their trust.
IF the nacelles were turned the way you want them to be, they wouldn't work. The two on the port side are a pair and the two on the starboard side are a pair. The pairs need to talk to each other. If they were turned, the grills wouldn't be in line of sight to one another. Also, the "impulse engines' and "torpedo launchers" from the original shooting model weren't colored either. So the Eaglemoss lack of painting IS accurate to the original shooting model.
The registry is NOT upside down under the hull. That’s just how they did it on the filming model 🤷♂️
I had the same experience with the name and registry on the bottom being incorrect. I emailed Eaglemoss about it and they sent me a replacement that had the same issue.
Constellation class are my favorite STar Trek ships. This desperately needs a makeover though and I know they can do better based on other models in the series. I keep hoping they will release the Hathaway with a new sculpt to fix that wretched seam in the saucer and thicken it up. It just looks way to thin compared to even the magazine render in my opinion. Interesting that they didn't seem to want to do any windows on it since in the show it was lit up like a christmas tree lol. I can't buy this one as much as I want a Stargazer or a Hathaway, the flaws are too great. I agree with you Cpt Foley the stand would have been better mounted at the impulse area since they didn't bother to paint it anyway. The nacelles are definitely the star of the model as it sits.
I'd buy it if it could fly around my house and take out these flies with phasers. That would be sick.

Nor should you....they are more like $15-$20 depending on where you buy them and if you use a promo code.
Do you think the USS Constellation of this class was NCC-1017A?
Constellation or Constitution? The constellation is the Stargazer and constellation class, I don't think they would name it with the same registry as the constitution-class Enterprises.
Rereading your question, I thought you said 1701-a, my mistake!
How do ships like this and the reliant get away without having a deflector dish???
Can I get a serious reference on where do they estimate that this ship is really 310m? I've looked at the model and reference material to match it up with a constitution (refit) and its quite shorter, more or less ~250m. Can anyone help?
Eaglemoss are still great, even while more expensive than any of the multiple brands of "micro-machines."
Cap - I noticed quite a few scratches and what I would consider major scuffs on the paint job for this one and even scratches going across one of the registry NCC sections. Your comments are well founded but you may want to tell Eaglemoss to do something about their QC department or inspectors in general. Doing it right the first time is not that hard when you think about it. They are not releasing prototype models but something that should have gone through the design process until they got it right. It is important to remember that this company is supposed to be licensed by CBS. It makes me wonder if they really care or if they just see a bunch of suckers waiting to buy the next Trek ship that they put out. Sort of sad when you think about it!

Mine looked constructed by a drunk. Four nacelles, not a single one lined up correct. Just a dilapidated mess.
The 8 year old in the Chinese factory probably was not fed this week. >_>;;

Ditto with mine. I tried fixing it with super glue, but still doesn't look right.
