Little late in the game here, but I am presently restoring one of those. Love that guitar. Great sound. Updating that attrocious bridge and redid the neck, it needed it after 60 years. Glad to see someone else giving it a shout out....

@@austincox1709 I fitted a Nashville Bridge to the Up-posts buried in the body. Little tricky, but worked out nice. Sounds great and it is dead on with the intonation now.

@@austincox1709 Also refitted all screw holes with inserts and now use stainless hardware, looks cool.

Greetings from Sweden. The reason the early Hagström guitars look like they do is because Hagström made accordions. And since youth culture slowly made its way over from the states in late 50s accordions stopped selling so they started making guitars. The guitars were made from old accordion materials, hence the gold "grill" between the pick ups, the weird switches instead of proper pots and the vinyl. They were cheap and to be honest they are very uneven in quality, you can get one that is complete garbage and one that is really nice. That said, They are great fun if you find one in good condition and of good make. The one you have in the clip sounds pretty nice. take care and ty

The same thing happened in Russia with all the crazy russian guitars by accordion manufacturers.

Mine looks just like this one. Yes I've had it since late 60s. Yep I am missing that gold plastic thing. It feel off and I lost it. Still love it.

This was my very first electric guitar. Mine was identical to the one here but rebadged as Futurama. I bought it used in 1964 for 29 UK pounds, I think it was absolutely the cheapest guitar in the shop. To put that in perspective, a new Strat cost 175 at the time. I can't say I was over the moon with it, but it played OK and it was the only thing I could afford. I had a lot of fun with it even it didn't feel very cool playing a guitar with a plastic top and a vinyl covered back.

These guitars were very well marketed in the mid 1960's in the New York City area but I never liked them. The ones I have seen had terrible playing action.

small frets make it harder to play, it's pretty much the opposite of what he said. That's why shredder guitars have jumbo or at least medium jumbo frets.
