NCL does a great job on making sure that you can relax and mot worry. A special thanks to all the hard working staff of all the ships that make this farmer feel like a king.
Excellent video as The Epic is one of my favorite ships. Well done and very authentic I thought! I've done 2 crossings on her and another one booked for next month. Sorry you did not get a chance (or maybe you did and didn't film it) to see The Studios and The Studio Lounge. Epic pioneered the single cabin I understand and it is awesome. I always book a studio which has no single supplement and have met some of the coolest people in The Studio Lounge. I could not agree more about Cagney's; and Cagney's is consistently great throughout the fleet. I did like it better though when it was just a service charge to eat there rather than what it is now a la carte (unless you are on a dining package) but I suspect people were over ordering and couldn't eat it all. IDK......but yeah Cagney's IS my favorite specialty restaurant. As to the drinks if you ask, they will make a non pre-mixed drink and you can even call the liquor. (I would recommend a tip though to expedite your request LOL) I normally drink Bacardi and Coke with a lime and of course that's not pre-mixed and never watered down...…..Surprised to hear you say that about the service though as I have always had nothing but fantastic service and courtesy from all at NCL, from The Hotel Director all the way down.....which is one reason I am Platinum Plus. I am loyal too and ONLY cruise NCL. Oh and I had the same issue one cruise with dinner reservations overlapping with a show, I didn't know if you knew that you can go the reservations desk in the Atrium (sometimes they have a satellite set up outside The Garden Café as well) and change them around even if you already booked them on-line. Finally you mentioned several times The Garden Café for Breakfast, next time try O"Sheehans. Their French Toast and Bacon is wonderful :) Again awesome authentic video! Thank you!
You need to go royal Caribbean 10x better I've been on 7-8 cruises so I've experienced the ncl. One thing I like about the Caribbean is you didn't have any additional charges for bars activities onboard only thing you would have to pay for is duty free and excursions and that's at the end of your trip. Much more to do onboard aswell.
got mines booked for March 30, 2019. Cannot wait. Never been on vacation before and never been on a cruise before. So this is a nice inside look into what I will be experiencing.
The bathroom section actually reminds me of how it is in the studio cabins. Im looking forward to seeing this ship on my vacation this summer from Barcelona 🌞
I've been on it 6 times out of Miami. I loved it. I had an inside with the sink in the living room and solo cabins. My sailings had Legends in Concert, Adele, Steven Tyler, very good. I ate at buffet most times so much to choose from.
We just returned from the Barcelona cruise 2018 Enjoyed very much Next time will book the balcony room Also found touring exciting but tiring and expensive Food was excellent Great atmosphere
Thank you for the great (and steady) video. My family and I got headaches watching other videos about this cruise ship. We're going on this cruise in Europe this summer. 1. I think I like the bathroom layout. We're a family of 4 and this can shave some time getting ready. As a courtesy, we never do #2 in the cabin. How did you feel about the bathroom with just the 2 of you? We'll see how this works out this summer. 2. You are very thorough showing all the things available on the ship. I wanted to know if there was a daily paper showing what's happening each day. The Disney cruise we went on had one delivered in the morning. Another cruise line had it on a tv channel. We have a 9 and 11 yo that we want them to join the kids events. 3. Sounds like the food in the specialty restaurants were just OK. I'm glad we didn't opt to dine or make reservations as we like to keep our schedules pretty open. 4. How was the on/off boarding? I don't mind waiting as long as it feels like things are moving. 5. You recommending a power strip. Some cruises don't allow strips as to not overload the outlet. Are there any other tips to bring along? Again, thanks for the video, I'm sub'ing you and can't wait to watch more :)
1.) was fine with the bathroom for the two of us 2.) yes they deliver a daily guide to the staterooms just like on the disney cruise line 4.) boarding and getting off the ship was very easy, they do timed tender tickets for any ports that use a tender 5.) not of the top of my head thanks for watching
Brilliant video showing all aspects of the ship. It's great to see the cabin although I personally don't like it and wouldn't chose one with a wavy wall but unless I'd watched your video I probably wouldn't have been able to visualise it. Thank you.
My wife and I will be on the weeklong cruise starting on Saturday, and are more or less winging it in terms of the food and entertainment, in part because the rest of our party is not the most tech savvy and doesn't have computer access to book early. However, we do have dinner at Moderno on Sunday. We have hopes for good beverages, luck at booking dinner and shows, and fun on the various countries. By far, this is the best review of the ship I've seen! Thanks again!
Wow I really don't like the bathroom situation. Can you image housekeeping walking in accidentally while you're taking a shower? Nice tour of the ship. Thanks for sharing.
I just came back from the epic, we were on the deck with the spa, so me, my daughter and my son went to the spa changing rooms(which have toilets and showers) while my husband got ready in the cabin. It was much quicker for us like this
Best vacationer, good and smart compromise but does seem a bit of an inconvenience. Toilet on one side shower on the other sink out side of both. Just don't seem practical to me.
The Taste Restaurant looks really nice with the chandelier....obviously the windows cant be in the middle of the cruise ship, theyre only located at the sides but it still looks nice
Thanks and great job on video. I will be sailing in December and use a wheelchair to get about. This video answered a bunch of my questions. Look for the Wheels report in January to see how to do it my way. You mentioned Grandma in the bathroom.? Loved that. That is me, 65 and still rocking out, wheelchair or not! Remember, you are Only as limited as your mind lets you be. Great job. Andie.
How was it? I was on the Spirit in August 2016 and thinking about going on the epic in September 2019, deciding between that, MSC Seaview and Celbrity Edge.
Thanks for the video. I am sailing on the Epic 28 days from today. I will be in a studio cabin cruising by myself so we'll see how that goes. I will be on a seven-day. Never done a three-day. That seems really short to me.
Excellent review you guys. I went on the Epic in mid-May '17 with my Mom (7-Day Western Mediterranean from Rome) and had pretty much similar experience as you guys. Nice staterooms - but not for sharing with your Grandma (or Mom!) Thanks for your hard work.
One thing regarding the shows and specialty dining; you can make you reservations for both online as much as 90 days ahead of your sailing date. NCL does in fact publish the times of the shows online, allowing you to coordinate your dining and entertainment well ahead of time.
If memory serves correctly, we had the option of booking the comedy shows online ahead of time on the Escape (I specifically remember kicking myself for not doing so, as the comedy show we wanted to see was sold out). Not sure why it would be any different on the Epic.
I went on the ship in June 2018, and I can agree with most of what you said. However, I think the shows onboard the Epic were phenomenal. Priscilla, in my opinion, was actually too short. However, I may have a bias as I am a theatre lover who can easily sit through a two-hour show. Also, I saw Priscilla off-board the ship on a tour before my trip, so I was used to a longer version, hence my feelings that the show was short. Additionally, Burn the Floor was also a fantastic show, and I wish you had given it a try :)
I agree. I LUV'd Priscilla last time I was on The Epic and I will see it again next month, perhaps more than once. I am sure it has a different production cast than when I saw it 2 years ago which should make it even more interesting for me. But yes I thought the show was a little short too. BTW I LUV'd the MOVIE.
Hands down one of the better cruise videos I've seen! did you do one on the Breakaway? (I tried looking through your channel, but you have A LOT of videos!)
Epic is great for Solo Travelors... Studio Lounge is almost perfect!! Slides are great but I would like them to update the green for what they have on the Escape (drop slide). Food is decent... but it's free.. this ain't the 1980s where you get a great meal that is free.. you have to go to Cagney's, Moderno or La Bistro....Inside statesroom are too small and so is the pools.. but overall.. Studios, waterslides, Spice H20,Bliss,Haven(if you can afford it) and Entertainment make this 1 of the better ships!
I could not agree more about The Studios and yes I absolutely LUV The Studio Lounge. April 13th can not come soon enough and I am doing a B2B2B ending in Barcelona AND I arranged to keep the same Studio though out.
Thanks for this video. My family, I and our money are deciding if we go on Norwegian Epic or Symphony of the Seas (Royal Caribean) and tbh, I cant decide because of this video
We just booked the epic for our ten year anniversary. We'll be headed out in January 18. Thank you for posting this video! It was extremely informative and gave me a pretty good idea of the ship. We too bought the unlimited drink package but now you got me worried about the ship and the drinks. We have been on a couple other cruises SEVERAL years ago and I just want something nice for my wife. Would you recommend this ship or go on this ship again? You're the best man.
+Riley Carter I would go again, had a lot of fun, just order unique off the menu drinks or simple cocktails (captain and Coke, vodka cranberry etc and you are good)
In the Loop Awesome. I appreciate the responses. I'm going to be doing our dinner reservations before we board per many people's suggestions. Anything else you can think of we should be doing ahead of time to ensure we have the best time possible. Again thanks for the responses.
We bought the drink package and dinner speciality package. From what I hear you can book dinners and shows 90 days prior to your departure date. I have already done the pre-check for our cruise. Seriously I can't thank you enough for taking a couple minutes out of your day to help me.
didn't show the haven. couldn't have gone on the epic in regular rooms. they're too small and the haven has private pools, bars, restaurants, gyms, sun decks, priority tenders. basically go in the haven if you have the money to
Does the Epic leave out of the Cape in Florida? Also a suggestion....when starting your videos can you say how many people the ships holds and the Port info. Please that would be most appreciated ❤️
@@IntheLoopPodcast thanks for responding, getting ready for a cruise to Cuba on the Sun...thanks for that Sports Bar tip, and I want to do the Chef's Table, is that an up charge?
+Patrick9629 the auto stabilizer on the this camera is very good, plus on filming day didn't drink too too much. Casino was the largest I've seen out of all the ships I've been on
I am sailing on the Epic next year and I am not planning on purchasing the beverage package. Can you please tell me if I can order a few drinks and bring them back to my room or will I have to consume them at the bar/restaurant where I purchase them? Thanks for your help!
Thanks for posting. The bathroom/toilet layout in the cabin and the drinks situation you mentioned has actually put me off booking an NCL cruise especially the Epic. I don't know why they have to put the drinks in those containers? One of them looked like it contained dirty dish water...very off putting. Yours is the second vlog complaining about the pre-made drinks. Whoever designed these rooms wants shooting. Small, short beds and awkward shaped sofas doesn't sounds like somewhere I would be comfortable on. By the way both Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, P&O and Cunard all have the rounded bed corners, it must be an industry wide thing. Thanks again.
Hi, great vlog however I found the drinks wonderful, just don't go for the ready made drinks like margarita and frozen drinks. Use your favorite brand like Bacardi or crown royal whatever. If you don't ask for it they will give you the cheap stuff. It was are 1 st time on NCL epic and I loved it. Great ship!
Hey, thanks for the video! One question: are the glass elevators and the quiet deck you show near the beginning open to the public? Am guessing so since it didn't look like you were in a Haven (fancy, access to exclusive areas). Can you say more about how to find those glass elevators? Thanks again!
If you go on the Epic or on any NCL boat with a private upper class deck don't sneak in. A) you will get kicked out B) you will annoy people C) you didn't pay for the better boat experience so you don't deserve it. This is coming from someone who has been on the NCL Haven deck over 5 times on several boats.
@ Kevin and his commenters, I have been on several cruises and was reviewing going on the Norwegian Epic, I noticed that bathroom is just in the room and that to me is a huge turn off and quite frankly a joke!! As far as getting off your ass to get a drink, that's a joke too! You are on vacation with SERVErs who are supposed to SERVE you. Not to much to ask for service. Understandably that the staffs are busy and work hard but to be expected to get up and get your own...As cruisers , even in standard state rooms , we pay a lot of money for these vacations and have our expectations. Also it was your experience and your opinion of the ship, entertainment, and sevice. On that note some crews and ships are just better at it than others.
There is no bathroom as such the Toilet is only separated by frosted glass then on the other side the shower is only separated by frosted glass so no privacy you can see the person sitting on the toilet doing their business very poor design when I called NCL about it they told me the ship was designed by the French and that’s the way they do it. So booking beware if you’re travelling with someone you’re not comfortable sitting on the toilet beside don’t book this particular ship.
Really not feeling the vibe of this ship. Looks almost tacky I guess? Can't put my finger on it exactly but it kind of gives the same feeling as '70s era Las Vegas. Just too over the top and it's gonna age terribly.
SubstanceD91 it really is a great ship. Lots to enjoy. We will be going back on her. We were on it for a week at Christmas and it was awesome. Been on many cruises. Carnival and princess. Ncl was by far the best.
NCL does a great job on making sure that you can relax and mot worry.
A special thanks to all the hard working staff of all the ships that make this farmer feel like a king.

Thank you for this video. It helped a lot. I appreciate your honest review. ....
Were leaving for this cruise today and I’m just way to excited watching this video!
We just returned from the Barcelona cruise 2018
Enjoyed very much
Next time will book the balcony room
Also found touring exciting but tiring and expensive
Food was excellent
Great atmosphere
Going in a few weeks. Did you buy any shore packages?
I am going on this cruise in December to see my uncle preform in Priscilla

Thank you for an informative video! We're cruising on the Epic in March 2020 in the Haven for our 10th anniversary. We can't wait! :)
hey Linda I am going on the Epic in March 2020 too, which week are you going on?
We went on the epic in 2017 I think it was pretty great
I bet all of you didn’t end up going...

Chubby kids tend to get wedged in the green slide. It takes about an hour for the slide staff to pry them out.
Wow I really don't like the bathroom situation. Can you image housekeeping walking in accidentally while you're taking a shower? Nice tour of the ship. Thanks for sharing.
are you sure no one fits through those doors
clara netts good point but I prefer it because this way my family of 4 can get ready a lot faster than the regular bathrooms
I would think you can lock your cabin door.

Going on the Epic November 2018! Thank you for sharing!🚢
Thank for the video. It was very helpful to learn about the ship before I go.
Going to be on this ship for ten days in 2025. Looks like fun.

You and Clint should do a special episode of in the loop where all you talk about is cruising.
+Ian Baron Clint was on the show this week and we talked cruisers for probably 20 minutes
Ian Baron wow someone's out of the Loop
Thanks for the review we are doing a 13 night trans Atlantic in the fall on this ship!

Good review. Great ship. But I’m 203cms tall and didn’t find the bed small
Duelling Pianos was amazing! Howl at the moon
Great review thanks!
Were on this ship at the end of the month on the west med from Barca.
Great work.

I bet we’ll be on the same cruise!
We were looking into a trip with Epic from Barcelona. But the bathroom-situation made us change our mind about it. Nice video :)
Awesome all you need to know about the ship video!! Thanks

+Patrick9629 the auto stabilizer on the this camera is very good, plus on filming day didn't drink too too much.

Great job. An eyeopener. Have to watch it again as they have a good-priced cruise coming. So far the cabin's bathroom design is turning me off.
Is the water in the pool heated
I love the ship. I was on it right after the crash into the dock at San Juan. Great video, I made one also

Do you feel the boat move at all while your walking around????
It depends on how rough the seas are
Thanks for posting.
Great ship!
YUP I just said that, Call the drink and specify and they will accommodate you.
great video thanks we go on the epic in two weeks, by the way I love your voice
AYYEEEE goin on this later on tomorrow!!!!
Hey, thanks for the video! One question: are the glass elevators and the quiet deck you show near the beginning open to the public? Am guessing so since it didn't look like you were in a Haven (fancy, access to exclusive areas). Can you say more about how to find those glass elevators? Thanks again!
+Allison Boex yes the elevators are open to anyone. The glass elevators start on the pool deck by the buffet
Thanks!
Allison Boex the haven is completely separate!
Does the bed split into 2 twin beds?
OMG CEDAR POINT IS THE BEST AMUSEMENT PARK EVER - LOVE THE RAPTOR!
I'm going on this cruise in october. I'll be a week away from being 18, do you think I'll get away with going into the club? Do they ask for ID?
+KittyKat111 yes for the nightclub in the evening most ships ask for ID
Well at least there are bars near the entertainment areas. My mother will get order my drinks
Did I hear correctly, you had a balcony room, drink and dining packages for $400?
It was $434 for Balcony Cabin, Taxes & Fees, Specialty dining plan & ultimate beverage plan
In the Loop Wow! That's a deal! May I ask how? Did they have an awesome special?
I think it was a combination of good special and just happened to book at the right time.
is the quiet zone on the deck 18 adults only?
+Jake Rieber I’m not sure on that one
Cagneys and Moderno is Deck 7 lol
Cuánto cuesta un tour en el noruego épico????????
Is there no casino on board??
There is a casino
Great spicy Pasta!
Needs closed captions....for deaf people and people trying to watch while at work and don't want to get caught. ;-)
Can you drink in the bars if you are 18 as we are from Australia where you can drink at 18
From the NCL website "Guests who are 18 - 20 years of age can purchase and consume beer or wine when the ship is in international waters"
In the Loop thank you, very helpful
OMG IM GOING IN FEBRUARY
Is there any food without garlic? I can’t eat garlic 🤦🏼♀️
Not sure on that one
It all seems very NOISY? I hope that’s just your phone... I’m looking forward to a quiet time in 3 weeks....
Recorded this with a video camera, so if found it noisy on video you will probably find noisy on the ship
What a strange open sink and shower situation!
I visited the Norwegian to
cool ship
Why do people always have to mention their platinum status, the haven 😂🤣🤣 ridiculous.
i am silver status, i thought i would just mention that.
You shouldn’t be up on the top deck unless you have the pass for it
Too many ads
The Epic is the cheapest of all of NCL ships.
First
Really not feeling the vibe of this ship.
