Was there in the front, still remember this gig vividly, it was awesome, saw them again 17 years later at the Enmore in Sydney and they still rocked my world. Most underestimated band IMO..
its plausible that he switched chords with his fretting hand and the chord was sustained til he started strumming again. Maybe I'm biased but it would seem uncharacteristic of him to use backing tracks, plus all the other guitar looks legit so, I dunno
BallTingle has a very valid point and give me a thumbs down for agreeing...Eels are great and Rags to Rags is a great song! But I could've done without the mid-synchro!

It's almost criminal how many people haven't heard these. I mean they're great in any genre they try their hand at (which has now been a fair few!) :)
This line-up of the eels was the best. Butch on drums.... HOLY SHIT! One of the best live acts I had ever seen.
It's 2023: It still is .... legend!!!!
Poor image, but what a sound ! ;-)
It's 2021: This is legend!
Wonderful band
This is freaking awesome
That's how you play a song live - go E !
Tommy and Butch too ... great days
This was where I saw Eels for the very first time, did not know them before but this concert was just to F***ng cool. Been a fan ever since:D
that was one hell of a concert!!!
I still think that Eels stole the show!
E pretends to make a phone call while Butch hits the skins. And then all 3 are having a drum jam! Brilliant live twist
Monday morning, 11:00 AM, sunny. Was a good start of the day. Great edition, 97. Bush ended the day and faithless in the tent.
Best song on BF.
Love the album.
best guitar solo EVER
You know what I just noticed?
there are only 3 guys up on that stage.
can you fuckin believe how perfectly they are playing with just 3 of them?
really love this band thanks for sharing!
@ lowlands the same year E invited everyone on stage, I stood next to him. My hero :)
GENIAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
Butch - what a legend!!
This thursday live @ Utrecht, netherlands!:)
You can see half of the crowd doesn't understand what they're doing :D
Butch = LEGEND
Melancholy
5:07 Butch's drum solo audience reaction
thats very true, although one could also say it gets easier, less people to need to coordinate with, thats probably how they pull it off so flawlessly
they are freaking popular
I only listened to Nirvana at the beginning then i grew out of it.
But then again I've always been odd.
0:53 E's guitar is still playing but he's holding the mic stand...
its plausible that he switched chords with his fretting hand and the chord was sustained til he started strumming again. Maybe I'm biased but it would seem uncharacteristic of him to use backing tracks, plus all the other guitar looks legit so, I dunno
Great band, so underestimated. never saw a live video of them. Sounds fun but like what you guys said: skip the hippie thing
Nah these cats are pretty successful, I hear them on the radio and on a bunch of TV shows and movies.
Nobody I know listens to Eels ... considering all the shit that's on media these days I really don't understand, they could be so popular.
same story
What's the name of the bass player?
Eels is one of the best bands around.
E is crazy:P
why'd he leave?
he just formed the chord with his left hand. with as much distortion as he's using, you don't really need to strum.
@Seitzy411 three-man-bands are most definitely esquisite. Z Z Top, RUSH...to list a two...lol
I'm looking for Sofia boy

Nobody listened to Nirvana in the beginning........give it some time
It's called sustain, my friend. Send your thanks to Les Paul's children.
