I was in school in the 60's, we had film shows shown in a darkened Hall, or radio shows.

I've just been transported back over 40 years. They did a brilliant job of capturing how programmes for schools were presented, with a great comedic twist! I now have Look and Read stuck in my head with Wordy and a story about some peregrine falcon eggs.

None of these need to be watched in order, but a little detail: the actor playing the ghost in the first experiment also appears in the previous episode in the series to this, I won't say any more than that, but I loved when someone else pointed that small detail out to me, it makes his appearance in this episode even better once you've watched the previous one!

I think Peter Serafenowizc (Grrr) did some other pseudo science vids - "The Coming Ice Age" where he played Leonard Nemoy then a few years later he did a great one impersonating Al Gore on a similar theme but with a twist.

    Love this show!
I believe that computer in the intro is a BBC Micro, which I remember using in primary school, and playing early edutainment software (anyone remember Granny's Garden, Dragon's Tooth or Pip Goes to the Moon?) Ah, nostalgia...
By the way, the scientist in the first experiment was Edgar Wright (director of Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc)!

Yes to all of the above! Granny's Garden gave me nightmares...
The school had 1 BBC-micro (upgraded to an RM-Nimbus about 5 years later). Would have been 1985 for me :)
Used to play a lot of Elite on a friends BBC too. The crazy thing is they cost about £350 in the early 80s (equivelent of £1,300 today).

This first series is based on an ITV Schools show called 'Experiment', they've copied the look & feel of the programme very accurately. The second series is more or less based on the BBC show 'Tomorrow's World'.

Series 2 is almost a completely different show, parodying the 1980s popular science programme Tomorrow’s World.
These Series 1 episodes are delightful pastiches of the Television for Schools and Colleges programmes that were shown on daytime TV. Each episode would be around 10 minutes long and they’d be prefaced by that exact blue clock. The narrator used for Look Around You actually worked on these shows! So it feels very authentic.

Were you pretending to write? Reminded me of Jez on Peep Show.
