@@TheDarinAmes It's not just the guitar. He does the percussion with his bottom 3 fingers hitting the pickguard while strumming. Then he mutes the string and snares them with his pick at the middle of the sound hole.

For those trying to learn to get his sound on the guitar make sure you are hitting the b note (pinky on third string 4th fret) when playing the E and A chords. I have been playing a long time and probably listened to this 20 times before I figured that out.

Hey, this song can be played on acoustic guitar relatively easily. It is in the key of E with standard tuning and no capo. Remember when you watch Keith, he will usually have his guitar tuned down half a step or have it in drop D, this means the chords he plays look different to the regular way you would play chords. He is also very smat and accurate with his muting of strings and palming of the body which gives it a good beat and sound. I usually play E, Esus, A, B, Bm, focus on your strumming.

Love this live acoustic version! I'm thinking that he may not be in standard tuning on this though......one of the reasons it sounds so big!!!! Does anybody know if Keith is playing in some kind of open tuning and what it might be????
This is standard. He has a video here on TH-cam where he shows what chords he is using throughout the song. There is another video of a guy who resembles Marty Shwartz who shows how to do a lot of Keith's riffs too.
There is also a classic trick, many people are not talking much about, to take even a very cheap Guitar, make it sound of a higher quality, by just throwing a Dishtowell into the Soundhole... That can make a huge difference, and make a 200$ Guitar sound like a Martin or Maton
