Holy cow Shawn! That amp is versatile, not even funny. I use a Friedman modded Marshall SL and I specifically remember asking for those mods. Dave's amps are ridiculously good sounding and worth every penny. I'm saving up my money starting now. Thanks for the great video, amazing job Shawn.
I have a Smallbox Combo and I can only say that while Friedman amps are very highly regarded they are deceptively awesome. Every switch and knob does something good. My amp is simple. But I still discover new things all the time.

That Friedman guy is a genius when it comes to Master Volumes on amps. He modded a 78 Plexi for me that sounds killer even at 0300hrs when the sandwich maker is sleeping. Killer amp indeed. Now it's either between this, the new Axe FX III, the Suhr PT100 or a Nightforce ATACR 7x35x56 scope...
What a great demo! Well structured and easy to understand. Hits on all the features without without leaving you standing in the road like a deer in the headlights. Finding your voice with the BE-100 should be no problem. Tons of headroom, bottom end, character and power, this amp has options for almost everyone's. My friend has a Friedman (not the BE-100) and as soon as I heard her play through it I literally had to pick my jaw up off of the floor. I have my sights set on the BE-100 but I'll have to sell a few items first. Tanks again for this demo!

i bought this amp as a kit from ceritone in malaysia. i built it myself its amazing. a true swiss army knife of an amp. glorious. not quite aggressive enough for some stuff but i have other amps for that.
Shawn every time you demo something I reach for my credit card lol. Seriously I have the BE100 but really like the versatility of the the deluxe. I’m gonna have to play around with the BE 100 and see If I can tweak it more. Although, the BE 100 is no slouch and needs very little tweaking. I want to move into more low to medium gain territory. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the sound of this amp. It's stable and full and defined. Quick question: Is the cab in the same room as you are? Must be deafening. ;)
I own a Mesa Mark V 90 and a Fender 65 Deluxe reissue with this beauty being next on my wishlist even though I know that this costs almost the same as my aforementioned amps combined. I swear the BE-100D does everything a Marshall JCM wish it could.

Yeah sorry about that man. It's pretty hard to reinvent the guitar wheel and stay entertaining when you're turning controls and explaining what they do. Some guys are considerably better than I am at it for sure.
Welle, thanks for your demo, Shawn! I love the way you play and sound! The Friedman amp has got good sounds but there's no real clean sounds... and it costs 3900 euros! Way too expensive when you compare the price of the Synergy modules (designed by Friedman, too); they allow to get different Friedman sounds plus Diezel, Fender, Soldano, Engl, Morgan, Dumble, etc. If you buy 2 different modules (Friedman and Fender, p.e), plus the SYN-50 head, it will cost you less than 2300 euros, for the same Friedman sounds plus a real Fender clean sound... So, do the math and make your choice, guys!

I could be wrong Embree and I'm certainly known to be but I think the Pres control is based on Negative feedback but the response control switch changes things up.
So basically, it'll do the Plexi sound. The JTM45 sound (plexi channel with fat switch, possibly increase thump). The JCM800 sound (BE channel with some of the lower gain structure settings). Plus hot rodded versions of each of those. Plus modern metal with the HBE channel. Now the question is, with all of this, will the Twin Sister add something that this doesn't? That's supposed to be like a JTM45, but the BE100 DLX already does JTM45, no? Also, does this amp do some of the modern Marshall sounds, like DSL100/JVM410 ? Cheers :)

C45 switch 11:46. You are correct about the SAT switch. The sat switch is more apparent on the higher gain settings and I was more focused on vintage gain. Thanks so much for the comment!!

Dear Shawn, I am back again to ask for your precious advice...since your review I have been a happy owner of a Suhr badger 18 (second generation, so with the mosfet booster like yours). Great amp!! You advised me between the 18 and the 35... Now...I have a great deal possible to exchange my Suhr with a Friedman Small Box 50 (mint condition as my Suhr)...very good deal from price point of view..I mean, I have to give my Suhr plus some money, but is a very good deal. I come with the question: I have never tried the Small Box...so what do you think? I always use my amps as “pedal platforms” so I am more interested in the low gain channel (the plexi channel) of the Friedman Small Box...I count on your comments! thanks a lot in advance! Alessandro
Fantastic review uncle Shawn. Question: I'm on the fence here. I was about to buy Marshall 1987X (50w), but after watching you with this beast, I'm now leaning more to the BE100, even though the 1987X is 50w. I'm currently running Mesa Badlander 100w and wanted a Marshall 'tone' for a change. I know the Friedman amps are basically hot rodded Marshalls and the BE100 does it ALL. Would you suggest the BE50 or stick with the BE100 monster. I know they're 2 different animals and the BE100 does things the BE50 doesn't.

The DS40 is a great amp. If you want that JTM 45 sound, it's pretty hard to beat. It's not a channel switching amp but it does take dirt pedals incredibly well.
how do you like the plexi channel compared to the DS40? I have a shirley and am considering upgrading because I'm having trouble finding pedals that help me go from my standard "pretty dirty" to modern high gain.
The Plexi Channel is brighter overall than the DS40. You may find the Plexi Channel on the BE-100 Deluxe to be more suitable but the other two channels might solve the pedal problem as well. ;)
@@ShawnTubbs my main axe is a pretty ice-picky tele and I already use treble cut in front so maybe that plexi channel is not for me then. And it's a bit too pricy to risk it. And yes, the idea was that the other channels would solve the pedal problem if the plexi channel is good enough to replace the DS40.

you could get or build the BEOD / Dirty Shirley / deluxe pedal and use that for additional sounds. I have a modded dirty Shirley and its so good.

The BE-100 DLX is such a flagship amp in my opinion. I think it would cover all of the tones you mentioned. It's all in how you dial it.

The DS40 is a great amp. If you want that JTM 45 sound, it's pretty hard to beat. It's not a channel switching amp but it does take dirt pedals incredibly well.
