Okay, so. I have goosebumps as I write this, and that is probably how I know I need to say this. I was diagnosed with BPD two years back - a big component of which is emotional dysregulation. I would literally see the splits happening when my internal sense of self and any other person in my given life situation + my reaction to that situation (blow-out), myself (self-harm, trash talk), and the person (yelling, silencing myself as punishment to them, ending up creating scenarios). I witnessed this, I was this, and I didn't see myself without it. I didn't have emotional dysregulation, I was the emotional dysregulation. Now, fast forward to today and - I'm dealing with most situations involving other humans well (I'm still learning how to be with me without judgment), and I end up questioning if I am managing well, did I really have that diagnosis or making it up? A part of said I was gaslighting myself, a part said I'm making it up. Your reading gave me a drone view of my growth in this particular area - I still want to yell out, and sometimes just ask people to take care of me cuz self-abandonment is a learned behavior, and old habits die hard, but man - thanks for this reading because I keep underrating myself, and how much internal work it must have taken to go from a constant reactive state to space from where I respond now- it hurts and it's not unicornassrainbowsunshine, but it is a necessary discomfort. Okay, so. I have goosebumps as I write this, and that is probably how I know I need to say this. I was diagnosed with BPD two years back - a big component of which is emotional dysregulation. I would literally see the splits happening when my internal sense of self and any other person in my given life situation + my reaction to that situation (blow-out), myself (self-harm, trash talk), and the person (yelling, silencing myself as punishment to them, ending up creating scenarios). I witnessed this, I was this, and I didn't see myself without it. I didn't have emotional dysregulation, I was the emotional dysregulation. Now, fast forward to today and - I'm dealing with most situations involving other humans well (I'm still learning how to be with me without judgment), and I end up questioning if I am managing well, did I really have that diagnosis or making it up? A part of said I was gaslighting myself, a part said I'm making it up. Your reading gave me a drone view of my growth in this particular area - I still want to yell out, and sometimes just ask people to take care of me cuz self-abandonment is a learned behavior, and old habits die hard, but man - thanks for this reading because I keep underrating myself, and how much internal work it must have taken to go from a constant reactive state to space from where I respond now- it hurts and it's not unicornassrainbowsunshine, but it is a necessary discomfort. I was pile one, and it is definitely true, I love the words you use btw. "I enjoy being alone." was something I repeatedly told myself for the last two years. I had people interested in me, but it never felt right. But once I didn't show interest back they would walk away.
