Really happy with the release of the Xponent Pearl and Attention Star, fairly easy balls to recommend for a lot of people in our area when they come into the shop
This one will be a decent amount stronger. Should be fairly straight across, because the xponent is basically an iq tour with a little more core, but with this one being so much more than the xp and the Ruby basically being a longer and sharper iq, this one will be the stronger one by a couple boards
Im curious to see this ball compared to a Zen Gold Label. On paper the Gold I know is stronger but the cover of XPonent Pearl looks stronger than cover on the Gold to me. Or am I seeing things?
I do have ZGL footage for Zach, and yeah the Gold Label is actually cleaner for him than the XP Pearl is. Now the XP Pearl doesn't really rev much so it's super strong from straighter, and is just a little slower from deep, but it can definitely hang out with the bigger balls.
Thanks for the reviews as always and a bit of a late question, but do you think that the Xponent Pearl would work as a ball between a Venom Shock and a Revenant?
Shouldn't be similar on paper, but are actually fairly similar on the lane. I think the Zen revs a little more, but they're ultimately both virtually on top of each other.
would i be wrong to say that this is another release that worsens the logjam of strong to medium strength balls under the storm umbrella? it would be nice for the consumer if spi would have the three companies coordinate what type of reaction that their next release should be and rotate between the three as to who gets to release the next high end, the mid and low end ball instead of the haphazard system that seems to be in place. when they flood the market the way that they're doing it only serves to confuse the customer with redundant balls that are too similar.
Yeah that's a good point, it shouldn't have been, but it definitely overlaps with the Infused, Sublime, Journey especially, Summit Peak, etc. It's just another stronger shiny ball that's on top of all of those.
Is this worth a pick up while the Zen is my staple ball in my bag? It looks like a ton of overlap. But im also thinking it could get those corners out when the Zen goes too forward while staying in the same zone/spot. Thoughts?
Sounds good to me, this one does get a little slower from deeper just because it doesn't rev much, BUT it's not forward like the Zen is, it definitely has a similar heavy roll to it though.
@@LukeRosdahl I can vary my speed and hand position, just usually not enough for the zen to shape sometimes. Just due to the nature of the piece. Thank you for your response.
Reacta Gloss might be fixed now. Might want to give balls a shot out of box. I've been a harsh critic, but the last 3 polished balls from SPI have been amazing.
That's what I've also been told and have seen. Zach never leaves factory shine on anything regardless, but our other tester Tobias that's coming has been leaving stuff alone and he hasn't had an issue with anything since the Infused, and we will be filming out of box for him. All his shiny stuff looks just fine.
@LukeRosdahl and your comment about it being almost like HK22. I think that's spot on. There's definitely a stronger backend motion across the board. The difference between the Absolute and Revenant from last year to the last couple releases has been amazing to me.
I appreciate that. I didn't want to sound like "that guy" or a hipster or something just because I'm throwing other stuff now, but that's just honestly what it looks like, so I said it. I think SPI is buffing all the cover strengths to catch up with the hardness bump, and as a result, like you said, a lot of the more recent stuff is firmer and more dynamic.
Looks good but the side ways off the back is enough.. there’s so many balls that do it already. Lighter oil balls are great and they keep making them just med-high
Great videos. Keep it up. So I have an xponent great ball pin down. I did purchase xp Pearl for our scratch league on burn. Do I want the same layout or different weaker layout. I have had a few different opinions.
No, the XPonent Pearl cover seems to be quite a bit stronger despite that seemingly not being the intent, I think that's illustrated pretty clearly in the video
Is it possible that the pearl just needs to be broken in more? Before its reaction tames down to match the solid version of the XP. I’m asking because I’m hoping that’s true since I love the original XP
Wha? No I can still throw the stuff, they won't be prying the Summit out of my hands any time soon. However, I declined their contract offer for 2024, so they decided to stop sending me equipment for reviews, so for the time being, it will be other people throwing SPI releases in reviews unless Angel or I decide we really want one that's coming. None of the releases in this group were particularly appealing, so we're passing on this round.
I'm actually blown away. Didn't expect this thing to be that strong with that much shape considering how the solid looks.
I got mine last night, this is 1 for 2 ball, meaning for me, it’s replaces both the ruby and journey and is a sensible step down from a zen gold label
Is it really a step down for you from the ZGL? Cause mine is so much earlier and stronger than the ZGL that I am kind of pissed about it

I would to see a comparison to the IQ Ruby. Want to see what the difference or similarities between the two are.

I found my Xponet is pretty strong too. Definitely stronger than I expected.
Great video as always seriously considering picking this one up thanks.

Actually yes, I think it'd be perfect.
Awesome, thanks Luke!
Great video - looks like the Attention Star as you sad. :)
Where does it fit as a replacement for the original zen pearl
On paper it's not supposed to be that close, but on the lane, it's pretty close. Very similar general overall reaction.
This ball is STRONG off friction!
How would the xp pearl compare to orginal zen and could both xps be a one two punch
Shouldn't be similar on paper, but are actually fairly similar on the lane. I think the Zen revs a little more, but they're ultimately both virtually on top of each other.
Is this a good replacement for the dare devil danger? Been looking to replace it haven't had any luck
Yeah this is definitely the closest thing to it by a long shot.
@LukeRosdahl thanks great stuff as always!

Yeah this should theoretically have been similar to like a Hyped Pearl and the two are just miles apart.
Great videos. Keep it up. So I have an xponent great ball pin down. I did purchase xp Pearl for our scratch league on burn. Do I want the same layout or different weaker layout. I have had a few different opinions.
Depends on what the layout is, I wouldn't go too weak but the xp pearl will be stronger than you expect it to be
Bowl on one bowl on 52 Bar open?😅
Wouldn't polishing up the original XPonent get you pretty much same effect?
No, the XPonent Pearl cover seems to be quite a bit stronger despite that seemingly not being the intent, I think that's illustrated pretty clearly in the video
My wallet just slapped me
For real. The Harsh Reality, Xponent Pearl, and Attention Stars are all must haves for me.
Tour DynamX did this to me. Completely out hooks the stronger balls in my bag. I'm super Rev dom and stuck with urethane and tropical surge. Sad face
Is it possible that the pearl just needs to be broken in more? Before its reaction tames down to match the solid version of the XP.
I’m asking because I’m hoping that’s true since I love the original XP
Nah, I mean it's going to settle down a touch but not an arrow.
What happened, Luke can't throw storm anymore?
Maybe April too?
