- With a couple of holiday days spare I decided to book on at Milton Pools fishery for a couple of days in search of big Carp and Cats. Did it go to plan……… does it ever go to plan……. Place was stunning back years Ago , weeping willows all around every lake , some lovely old fish in there too , it’s just a load of holes in the ground now ,fully of cats ,and as for those fucking sheds 🤮🤮
I’m not sure what’s worse the owner’s attitude or his wig 🙈🙈
That used to be an amazing lake until the new owners butchered it. 😔
It’s such a lovely looking venue, bar the M40, I have nothing to compare to as it was my first time but was bloody hard going.

That seemed to be the case. We saw maybe 2-3 bubblers and some Rudd being chased. That was it. Very tricky session sadly.
Must say I fished this pool in May and done well had 4 carp biggest was 34 pounds we was the other side to you. We only used waffters to the open water. Some times they just don't feed but good vid 👍

Fished it in may also had a fantastic couple of days we were supposed to be fishing linear but we turned away when we saw what a joke it was. Milton was a last minute find and so glad we did lovely place lovely people. Can’t wait to go again.
Totally agree with Chris.... Yet another lake ruined for the commercial carp circus. RIP.
Did you fish this lake in the past? Would be good to know how it was before compared to now.
Tree's, bushes, snags and lots of weed. The previous owners (John and June) ran it as day ticket and two syndicates water. First fished there late 70s, then 80s as a green carp angler and tbh learnt a lot about carp and carp fishing. Milton was one of only a few lake's open through the close season but it didn't see much pressure, until a 30 was caught in 86, 87ish about the time carp fishing was really growing in popularity.
Thanks for a trip down memory lane and get ya self back down there and have a few sure there's some gems in there.

I’ve fished there. I found the owner to be very arrogant. I wouldn’t go there again. I agree about the sheds. Eyesore comes into my mind.
I have heard the owner is like that. Luckily I don’t think they were there on my visit
There are three things that spoil this fishery...
The current owner, Mr Green, is well known amongst the fishing community to be overly aggressive in person, and draconian in his rules.
The M40 racket spoils any time you spend there, shattering the peaceful environment
The fish are too thinly spread out, leaving catches small, and returning custom short.
The M40 is a pain I must admit. You can kind of drown it out during the day but bloody loud at night.

It was a stunning lake, just wasn’t fishing well sadly. But I will return at some point for another go.
