@sojourner2013 I originally was worried about the 5.3. That is the reason why we went to the 6.2. Now everything that I'm seeing is related to the 6.2 being an issue lol. I guess you can't win them all

Wife's 01 Tahoe 5.3L with 327k still running. I had to replace the trans, but that's normal for 4L60Es. They ruined their V8s with AFM.

Yes, my Suburban has 5.3L with 226K miles and uses zero oil and has never had engine work done on it - very reliable and smooth. It's so sad GM uses AFM engines that can self destruct with a bad lifter and they don't even warn customers - it's what they put on the engine, so they build cars for gov. and not for CUSTOMERS?

Whoops, I errored, my mileage is 326K, but I could drive this cross country and it's still bullet-proof. I keep it up and have recently re painted it, so it's ready for the next 326K !!

@@SLP743I just sold my ‘23 Tahoe RST with 22k miles this weekend. So far I had taken it to the dealer for a loose lower control arm right after purchase, then a leaking evaporator (rust was found in the engine compartment) and then about six months later the drivers’ side a/c stopped working, was told a leak in the refrigerant line was found. Right after a 1500 miles roadtrip to North Carolina, I started hearing a ticking noise while idling by the passenger side. Was really concerned about the lifter issue coming up, not sure how it will fare with the next owner.

If you're doing your oil change at 50% all the time. Just make sure to pre-fill those filters. Doing more frequent oil changes can lead to damage as each time you're going to start up dry. GM had an issue in 21-23 where new assembled engine weren't pre-lubed through the oil filter with an adapter. That causes pre mature wear of the main bearing. All in all, the main bearings and oil pressure are sensitive in these 6.2.

I have the Mighty Mouse catch can, S&B CAI, and a Corsa Sport cat back system installed. It's been a great running truck so far, I do run Amsoil in the motor and cases, trans fluid was fun to change out but still runs it and does very well. You Chevy guys are quite dedicated and definitely have pockets full of money. The 6.2 has direct injection so have fun with carbon fouled valves in the intake later on, like if it makes it to 90 or 100k miles. It's a mystery to me why a 50's reworked over head valve engine like this sacred cow for Chevrolet keeps getting the following it does. My 2018 F150 with 130,000+ miles on it has port and direct injection and runs like a top. Changed oil around 10,000 until it got 100,000 miles , now change on or before 7,500. The technology that went into the 2011+ coyote 5.0 over head cam engine is second to none and now in it's 4th generation with 400hp stock @ since 2018 has 12:1 compression. So durable a person can throw a supercharger on or have Ford install one and get a full warranty and 700hp + depending on the supercharger. Can't even entertain the thought of owning a 5.3 or 6.2 that I would believe I needed to change oil every 3,500 miles, but hey that's what a person had to do 40+ years ago when even the oil wasn't that great and the engines had carburetors. Like I mentioned before anyone that buys a chevrolet has alot more money than I do or let's just say like's wasting their money way more than I do. GM loves your dedication and they have big pockets for all your money. Enjoy being broke and remember if you don't like you will learn to like it.

Of all those and a lot of miles, I bet I had 4 warranty repairs, all minor, fuel pump , wheel bearing, water pump, the only outside of warranty repairs was current 2016 Sierra, trans temp sensor harness i fixed for $80 and an hour of my time. And 1 wheel bearing on this 145k miles , never keep this long , but It seems the quality keeps going down and the price goes up. Not to motovatied right now as i planned for a2025 AT4 Sierra 6.2 and a new Tahoe 3.0 oil burner.

Everyone wants to think afm is the only / main problem. its not. ALL of the engines in the class action suit are all built basically the same. i had this problem myself. i have a '16 ss that comes with the 6.2 lq9/ls3/ whatever other variants you want to list. costed me 12k to sort it out. issues have no happened again because i learned how to build the entire engine myself as my car sat for two years. The problems start with the rocker arms. you need to either replace or upgrade them. upgrade the trunnion needle bearings or get ones that already come with the upgrade applied. if you do this you can usually save the engine. i was also one of the first ppl to attempt to get on the class action lawsuit, but since my situation is unique i have to go after gm myself. theres no avoiding the lifter issues, even if u jump ship and go to the expensive 800 link bar lifters, WHICH MY CAR CAME WITH AND STILL BLEW UP. thats why the rocker arm fix is important. the lifter issue is pretty easily dealt with if nothing else causes a compound problem. once the needle bearings get ejected by the rocker arms, this is what STARTS the issues. if anyone wants proof of my 2 years struggle that i finally feel like i came out on top, and you can see pics of my car. -> drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KDksHMaGUfuf7BGgOc5xIOFIate0m_lM

Stupid would be buying a brand new vehicle. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Yep, that would be me. The 6.2 had a great track record when I started my research in 22. The fabricated virus caused an incredible increase in price for new vehicles around that time, so it was cheaper to buy new. When researching lemon law gm agreed to buy back so they didn't have to go through the lemon law approach. They paid me more than I paid for the vehicle to buy it back. No depreciation for the miles. It was a no brainer. It was a free 12000 mile rental. We just had to buy another gm vehicle. I figured if they took care of us the first time, then why not buy it again. The only way I am out money is if I let it go out of warranty and then the motor blows. We will sell it off before that. My main complaint is just why does this keep happening. When you spend this much on a vehicle, it shouldn't have issues.
