Great video, showed me the crazy secret of getting in the thing to see what the problem is. What a pain that could have been designed simpler. Talk about seeing a reason to put one on the back burner. My Lionel 1912 Standard Gauge number 6 is a walk in he park compared to these.
The motor block has four power rods that mate with the wiring harness molded plug.. ..each marked with molded letters in the motor block top...gr..wh..br..ge...you can temp jumper connecting gr to wh and br to ge..to get the motoor to run without the wiring harness...I use 2 alligator clips...
I apologize if I missed, but I was drawn to this video because it said Engine Maintenance, but I have yet to find what I think is the most basic. What oil do you use for general lubrication of most moving parts? Thanks!
Hi Mark thanks for watching. Best overall lubricant...CRC 2-26 plastic safe precision lube...sold at Home Depots... Thicker lubricant use LGB 51020 Gear Lube.
@ColumbusGardenRailwaySociety oh, I thought the CRC was just for electrical connections. I'm familiar with it, as my career was electronic tech for military and telephony, but didn't know you could use it on bearings etc. Thanks for the info! Go Crew! Was at the MLS Cup last year.
I recently purchased an LGB 20212 with chugging sound and smoke. It ran well for a few days and it stopped all of the sudden, the front light still turns on, but the engine does not move forward. It still runs in reverse. Could this be a motor issue?
Bill has commented that it could be a bad diode. Older models was located on board just below motor block above motor ..on newer models is located on circuit board inside boiler..newer models use a bridge diode … If bad, you’ll need the factory to replace board..too messy.
I'm trying to fix a friend of mine that runs a train inside his store, but I don't know what part# I am looking for, cause I can't find the train anywhere online to find the correct parts. Can anyone assist? It's A LGB G-Scales engine #40 made in 2000 Made by E.P. Lehmann
Thank you.

Glad it helped!
Another great show guys!
Excellent show and information!
Thanks, I find myself referring to this video from time to time as a reminder too.
Great information hidden in here if you can manage to stay awake
Hello there. Do the new Stainz motor blocks require the tether to be plugged into the motor for it to run?

Hello, sorry for the slow reply. It sounds like a motor issue. With the sound card volume turned down can you hear the motor trying to move forward ?

Give the good folks at Trainli a call. www.Trainli.com
There is a four or five digit LGB part number on the bottom of your loco.
