great channel. I’ve had a 2010 g37 2011 m37s and Now I recently got a 2012 fx50s. Been watching your videos and noticed I’ve had a lot of similar issues as you post. Like my 4was on my m37s as well as my fan control module. Even having my iba light on/off with my fx50 when the sunlight hits it. Definitely appreciate the videos.
That blue towel you are using will leave fibers on whatever you wipe. Every fourth oil change I use one qt of Lucas and put it in first it will protect your motor on dry start after you change the oil. Thanks for the video nice job.
Damn 216989 Miles, Whoa. I have an 03 FX45 with only 77k on it. Barely use it. Live in NYC, Don't really drive much these days. I will be doing my oil change today, like you said on this video. most of these oil places don't get all the old oil out, because of that you can have upto 1/4-1/2 quart left in it of dirty toxic oil mixing with new oil. Since I have not changed my oil in a long time, I will change it Now and one more time in another month? after driving it for at least 100 miles more. Like I said don't go out much these days and also we have 3 cars and the other cars like the Q50 gets used more and even those are very short trips as everything is nearby since I live in NYC 5 Boro area. Thanks for sharing and pointing out all the other important things besides an oil change.
I like it. I know that there are oils out there that could be better, but for the sake of simplicity and consistency, I like buying product that I can easily get if I walked into Walmart.
Nothing wrong with that. I've used dino oil on engines with over 300k miles with no issues, so I believe that most big name oils are adequate for the job. I switched to synthetic with the main goal of extending my OCIs (oil change intervals).
Do you know if the vk50 will fit a vk56 inlet manifold? Harrop engineering make a great supercharger kit for the vk56 which I think would go great on a vk50 if it would fit
Sometimes, if you lubricate the filter O-ring - this oil can be pushed out a little bit by the oil pressure after the engine start, first time I've seen that - that was really frightened..😁
There is a small gap there, at least for filters 15208-31U0B and so you can catch some volume of oil and it will be pushed out of there after the start.
I went to an Infiniti Dealer for an Oil Change but the manager didn't want to add Full Synthetic Oil because he said Infiniti doesn't recommend it. I'm not sure why he said. I did some research and didn't see any reason why synthetic oil shouldn't be used, other than the dealer wanting to do more frequent oil changes with conventional oil.
Yeah, that sounds very odd indeed. In fact, Infiniti dealerships sometimes stock synthetic engine oil and sell it themselves. Where is this dealership located?
Hey brother I have 2011 FX35 and when you went inside the car to turn on the key I saw that in the car screen you are getting the brake punching signal and a beeping sound, I'm getting this same thing and if go off when I shut the drive door. Do you know how can I fix this noise beeps? Please let me know thanks.
I think when you going under a jacked up car, you should used safety stands just incase the jack fails. I just never see one bad practice..don't see the point writing up the filter just change oil every 3 months, who is going to check 😃😆
You are not wrong regarding jack stands for safety. However, in this case I lifted one corner by a few inches. Not enough to even fit a jackstand, and low enough that it would not pose a hazard if it fell back on the ground. It was not lifted for access, I just did it to tilt the oil pan
I might have misspoken, I meant to say that *I believe I have valve cover gasket leaks as well* ...because I did not think I could lose all that oil through the oil cooler seal.
But to answer the how, I can usually confirm by: 1. A smell of burned oil when the engine warms up 2. Running my hands along the heads (where the plastic valve covers meet the metal) and feeling for any wetness
Hi Ed, do you allow 3500miles intervals between oil changes? I found out that oil could get dirty before 3500miles. I usually change oil thrice in my M37. Is that too much cos I usually don't wait for the 3500miles.
I also don't use perceived cleanliness as a major determinant to oil life. If you ever drained oil right after an oil change (for example 500 miles) you'll be surprised by how dirty it gets. I mean draining it from the bottom, not just looking at it from the dipstick - as shown in this video, it could look clean at the top but be dirty.
Seriously though, yes it was not on there very tight. However, that's what I was trying to explain (I didn't go too deep into it) when I mentioned that an oil filter still seals well with *just enough* pressure on the seal.
Just Thank you for being better than Semper Fi Mechanic and actually doing the job.. not taking the money and run. I used to have a J30 too.

Great video
Good choice of oil. I either use Amsoil or Pennzoil. Nice vid 👍🏽
Is pennzoil good never used it

@@EdBwoy nothing wrong with that
Great video. I usually use Mobil 1 for my oil changes. Not sure if that brand is the one you've had issues with in the past. Please share if able.
I’ve been using amsoil when i can afford it cause I’m trying to preserve the engine cause it has high miles on my g37x coupe.
Nothing wrong with that. I've used dino oil on engines with over 300k miles with no issues, so I believe that most big name oils are adequate for the job.

How you feel about using Lucas oil stabilizer?

That is scary. Hopefully it's not something I'll ever have to deal with, because the oil filter has a groove that holds the o-ring in securely.
But you can never be too sure. Which is why I kept checking so many times

Hi Ed, I have an FX50 just like u did, when do u recommend replacing the timing chain? Thanks

I've never changed a copper washer in 25 years 😄
Whoops. You wrote the milage 100,000 lower than it was.
😂😂 of course that would happen when I decide to record it on video

How could you tell that it wasn't the valve cover that was causing the oil leak?

I usually aim for around 5,000 miles. Maybe less if I think the vehicle has been doing severe duty.
That oil filter was on there very loose, or you might have loosened it off video..
I've got a strong grip. The video made it look easier than it really is.
Seriously though, yes it was not on there very tight. However, that's what I was trying to explain (I didn't go too deep into it) when I mentioned that an oil filter still seals well with *just enough* pressure on the seal.
Lol, you’re gonna have heart attack on your next oil change trying to figure out who drove your car for 100k. Is it miles in Jamaica or kilometers
😂😂 I'm saving that surprise for the poor guy that buys the vehicle. Then they have to try and reconcile the mileage and dates
Jamaica ?
