Hi Mazzy Nick Cave a very respected and versatile artist his body of work is is so varied, the movie Lawless he did the screenplay and the music I also think it had music by Emmylou Harris another one of your favourites.love all your little features.cheers.Tony.
He is one of the real great poets of this generation. Idiot Prayer was DIVINE. He is always so beautifully poignant and cinematic. I love it. He has really been doing so many solo things lately and I have been loving it. He will probably release it. He is that type. haha! Have you seen him do those ''in conversations'' when he toured that? He really shows his total personality. LOL Gorgeous is a beautiful word though!!!! I have never seen Wings of Desire still. I need to be better with film. Let Love In was the album that got me into him bc I was like WTF is this?!?!? Why does he look like Ziggy?! I loved it. To me, he is like the modern Leonard Cohen/Dylan. A true poet. Murder Ballads was one of the albums that made me a loyal fan for life. You have inspired me to want to do a video about Nick Cave. What a sensational human he is. Abbatoir blues is underrated!!!! I don't think you'd be ready to see my Nicky collection. LOL Push the Sky Away is one of my favourite records of his ''newer'' stuff. Skeleton Tree too. So vivid. So divine.Warren Ellis is his rock. He is a mad genius. I didn't buy the cd version, I bought the 3lp version of lovely creatures. But I love that cd version now, meow. Awesome, Grinderman is SO good! No pussy blue is phenom. haha! His scores are so gorgeous. I hate that he wants to possibly stop doing them now bc he realizes that he is at the bottom of the Hollywood food chain. His words! LOL @ 28:45 GORGEOUS! Toodaloo baby.
Mazzy, nice Nick Cave collection. I started with Nick Cave's The Good Son on cassette, and my next purchase was Murder Ballads. I have CDs of most of what you showed up to Dig Lazarus Dig, which I checked out from the library. The only soundtrack related album I have is Ghosts...of the Civil Dead (1989). Thanks, Chris
Thanks for this! I came for your Beatles videos and stayed for Nick Cave. The Birthday Party is my favourite post punk group. I know they’re not for everyone but I’d recommend the ‘Prayers on Fire’ album and their last two eps, ‘The Bad Seed’ and ‘Mutiny’. And I’m glad you had the opportunity to catch him live. He is one of the great front men.
Hi Mazzy nick Cave is much loved here in Melbourne Australia and all over Australia and the world he’s just so dark and deep I personally love nocturama very underrated album, as an Audiophile I love to listen to red right hand as a test track when auditioning equipment. I love the echo around his voice in parts of the song
Hi Mazzy , Nick & PJ Harvey fell in love while filming the video to " Henry Lee " it's a stunningly great song & video. Nick gave fellow 🇦🇺 Kylie Minouge artistic credibility with Wild 🌹 ! He is a true artist.
@@mazzysmusic I think you would like Porcupine Tree's epic roller coaster rides of melancholic themes, Same with Steven Wilson's more current solo stuff. Puts together great bands!
Before The Birthday Party was Boys Next Door....the song SHIVERS is a harbinger for the mature Nick. The song DEAD JOE by The Birthday Party is about the death of his father in an automobile accident...Nick was only 17.
Mazzy. Nice collection. Agree with you, The Boatman's Call is his best work - perfect album! If you're not away of them, check out Wovenhand - folk/rock band headed by ex lead singer of 16 Horsepower. Any fan of Nick Cave will appreciate this music. Their earlier few albums better than recent releases in my view. Self titled first album is the go-to initially. Kev
From her to eternity Nick's first album with Bad seeds is a brilliant album. I followed a Swedish music magazine and they never gave the highest rating. But this album received the highest rating and i think this was the only album who got it.
One of the greatest travesties of 2020 is, I was supposed to finally see Nick Cave in Vancouver this coming October. So many great albums, and so many that are excellent. BTW, Casey Affleck in Billy the Kid is one of the greatest acting performances of all time!
I just picked up my first Nick Cave (not Cage) yesterday at my local record shop... The fella there steered me to Ghosteen... It's a challenging first experience but I will look out for your other top suggestions as I trust your word and your interest in this artist is my guide...so thank you... Always enjoying your opinions!
Great video brother. Hah...you called him Nick Lowe and Neil Young. Outside of his scores with Ellis, i don't believe Cave produced any records without the The Bad Seeds. I agree with you that The Boatmans call and No More Shall We Part are also my favorite works by him. He released a couple B-sides on 45 during the Push the Sky Away sessions called Animal X and Needle Boy that you need to hear if you haven't already. Peace out brother.
Yeah I tripped over my lips in terms of names. Nick Cage ?!? I should have been more specific in the solo performance stuff without the Bad Seeds. Like last weeks show and last years solo talk play tour 🤷🏻♂️😎
@@mazzysmusic Right on man. Also on TH-cam Nick has a channel called [Bad Seeds Teevee] where he streams content 24 hours continuously. There are many excerpts that we have all seen with added never seen interviews and live footage.
Skeleton Tree is hauntingly beautiful. There’s an album of his for every mood. Outstanding artist. If you haven’t checked out the site before, check out his Red Right Hand Files on the web. It’s like an AMA, but better since it’s Nick.
The only Nick Cave I've ever really listened to is from a best of CD I got in the early 2000's. The song from that CD that ended up on a lot of my playlists was "Into My Arms." Great lyrics and really catchy melody. I think I'll take your advice and check out The Boatman's Call. Thanks
I love nick cave so much but where ı live there is not many vinlys of him . The ones in my countery are sooo expensive :( ı wish ı have one of him vinlys:((
I started with Abattoir Blues, loved the gospel like feel to that one. Boatman’s call is classic melancholy Cave. Murder Ballads is awesome in concept and execution, I don’t think he’ll ever write that way again. The only Cave I can’t really listen to is the early very punky stuff, and I have no time for Ghosteen. Where others find that record beautiful and profound, I find it to be deeply boring. He’s pretty much dropped most of the band and the tracks ate barely even songs, just ambient loops and washes with rambling pseudo poetry over the top. I miss the fire and I miss the tunes. Hopefully the next album he releases will be a return to rock.
Great to see so many of Nick Caves Albums. I really agree on Ghosteen, this will be an classic Album, if it isnt allready.

Tony Stevenson thank you for watching Tony. Love sharing my personal faves. It’s as simple as that 😎✌🏽
Ghosteen is up there with one of my favourite albums of all time, phenomenal.
"Red Right Hand" was also used in an the X-Files episode that started my journey into Nick Cave.

Couldn’t agree with you more. One of the great songwriters we have today and really the last 20-30 years
Fantastic video & walk through of Nick’s catalog - we speak the same language - Boatman’s Call is the perfect album - well done - cheers!

Love Nick Cave. Enjoyed the run through. I dig Dig Lazarus Dig. That Lovely Creatures CD box is lovely. Grinderman is quite good live well.
i stumbled upon this video and oh my god this is gonna sound weird but i wish you were my grandpa this was the best thing i’ve seen all week. :)
So good when an artist enters the field.
Amazing Cave collection. Wow.
I strongly recommend The Good Son,Henrys Dream and Let Love In albums...ESSENTIAL!!
irst DAVID Last FREEMAN let love in is out for delivery today 🌟
Saw Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds At Fredonia Fest back in the early 90’s. I was impressed to say the least. Yo La Tengo played that day too.
Mazzie...have you looked into Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree?
Diggin' your video presentations!
robhaerr just a little. I need to dig deeper. I do have a bunch of his XTC and prog remixes.

Ghosteen is my favorite. What a masterpiece! One for the ages

Boatman’s Call first.
Really enjoyed this vid :)
Try to get Let Love In. It's my favourite Cave record!
Got it after I made this video. 🌟

His freudian slips were adorable.

Yes I need to check that out. Im getting several suggestions to do just that. Thank you for watching!!
No more shall we part is from 2001 not 2011 :)
A movie I can recommend is The Proposition (2005).Australian Bushranger/horror story written by Nick Cave....very disturbing story.
I’ve heard about it. Not sure I want to go there but maybe. 🥺😎
Soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis!!!
Rowland Howard has some great stuff too

It’s such a greet album 🌸
My favourite so far is "The Boatman's Call".
Check out another Australian Artist Tex Perkins I think you will like his music
You owe it to yourself to get the first four Bad Seeds albums, which are as good as any that have followed.
Great stuff I always say nick drake.

That’s too bad. I know many of his records are back in print but I guess world distribution is limited. What country are you in ?
@@mazzysmusic I live in turkey:( you? Btw in my country there are not many people listening to nick cave so the demand is low:(

You also should get Let Love in - that’s an awesome record
ironically he is one of the most anti religious men. think you missed the entire point of the album. haha
I know that. He (like me) has a spiritual side, but very anti organized religion.
