As a Band Maid fan, I couldn’t agree more with your compression assessment. The Maids need a production and engineering team that will put their live, organic tones on their CDs. I’ve seen them live. Half of what they do gets buried. The fact they still kill it? Amazing.
During their ten-year career, they probably only found a good producer and sound engineer three times. Twice in the case of live albums (Shinkiba 2017 and Zepp 2018), and once in the case of one song "Dragon Cries", which was produced by Toni Visconti, producer of, among others, David Bowie.
@@viaverde3153 And funny enough Dragon Cries is one of my least favorite Band-Maid songs because to me it doesn't sound like Band-Maid. Where as Manners to me is a similar take and feel song that is done 100 times better because they did it themselves.
Another Maid banger! You can see, feel and hear the🔥come through the screen. "Shambles" ain't no sham! Just watch it grow on you like all Band-Maid songs do! Thanks Band-Maid... and thx, Septa and SOARE!
I don't remember whether you've reacted to Band-Maid live (a quick search didn't show any). Many people prefer their live sound, and compression is often a factor in that. There are exceptions such as From Now On where I think the studio sound can't be beaten, but reactors are often pointed to their live videos from the start.
You don't want a booming kick on tightly integrated, punchy songs like Shambles. Akane has the best kick in rock, imxo. Listen to Domination official studio MV for an even higher mixed kick. It changes the entire feel of the song, in a great way! Then listen to the live version which is a bit harder to hear, but still helps define the unique beat of the song. 😁🤘Thx, Septa and SOARE!
Your comment about the video set was actually pretty bang-on. As someone mentioned previously, this is the ending song for Season Two of the Netflix anime Kengan Ashura. It's basically an MMA/Fight Club type of anime, where fighters represent rich companies/oligarchs against other rich companies/oligarchs to determine...stuff. I also echo another comment re: watching Band-Maid live at Lollapalooza from August of this year with the two-song combo of DICE/Hate?. It was pro-shot (live simulcast on Hulu) and shows their live chops off and just how much fun they have on stage. I've been fortunate to see them several times in their recent US tours of 22-23 including in Chicago (NOT at Lolla but the night before their set they played an official Lolla After-Show at a 1000-capacity venue, Park West, where they went on stage at 11:30pm-ish on Thursday night, finished their set at around 1am and were back on at the festival Friday at 1:45pm). Always a fantastic time, watching a great band doing what they love. Thx for the react!
You know I really like Babymetal but Band Maid is so much more. They play their own instruments they write their own songs. There hasn't been a rock band this good in decades. There are good metal bands like Love Bites and cute singers with backup bands like Babymetal but there's nothing but the extreme Talent of band maid
No question. Plus she actually uses it "as another hand" sneaking it into 16th note runs or what not all the time, so I think they want it to "pop" just as loud (not louder though) than the snare. Of course this is pure conjecture. The more you listen to these ladies though, the higher up your list they'll go. A lot going on in their songs that are next to impossible to take in on the first (or in my case 100th) listen.
The official studio MV of Domination is the only other song where her drums sound this muffled. Well, to me anyway. I'm sure she wants it this way. I've seen them play Domination in concert three times and Shambles twice and it's not there. Her stage sound is second to none.
____________________________________ ¡¡¡¡¡ Welcome to "The MUSIC" !!!!! 🤘🤘¡ ¡ ¡ B A N D M A I D H E A D ! ! !🤘🤘
Guess I can totally respect your musical opinion about the drumming mix. I do see what you're saying, and I'm sure many can agree to disagree.(I don't totally disagree personally, I'm actually neutral on this one). In fact, you've actually gained some respect for stating these things. You're musicians with an opinion. That's totally cool.
Guys please make a reaction to the Korean rock band SYNSNAKE, you are surprised and you will definitely like it. I recommend you the song "Prism". Love you reactions🙏🏻❤️
I don't like the mix and compression in the studio recording that much. Usually there are some tracks I can't get into because of it until I see the live version, with less compression, less vocal effect and every instrument can be heard clearly.
There is NOTHING about the BAND MAID sound that is "pretty ok" ;) . This band excels at anything they try.

This was another of their Anime Theme Song commissions. It's the second season closing theme for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura.

Akane's double bass work is a strong feature of Band-Maid. The choice was likely to showcase it a bit.

Septa , Shambles is the closing song for anime Kengan Ashura , its an anime about fighters , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin .

When the Bass drum became a Kick drum......You can thank "Lars" for that.
I like your display while reacting to the video. Exceptional critique of Shsmbles.

I like the very high bar, although I don't know if you have this background... :)
The strict jury always has to investigate why that is... :DD
