0:43 i always found this part of the song to be my favorite, probably because the sirens from the interior are so loud, you can hear it echoing as high up in the neck of the earthmover. that and the drum break is fire
Yeah, this is probably my second favourite part of this song, with the beginning piano at third and the guitar solo first. The slowed down drums with the filter on them reminds me of that one part in Unstoppable Force, (or was it Into the Fire, I can't remember) that's slowed and... More chilled, I guess? Good music anyhow.
I just imagine V1 scrambling across the platforms as deluges of boiling, steel-meltingly hot blood pour all around it, forming pillars of roiling death that v1 has to dodge between and move fast to evade as they fall in greater number around it as it rushes back and forth to smash each Idol before it can hit the bounce pad to Brainjamin
Since we know that the “Were You Foolin’” instrumental is diegetically coming from the terminals, I like to think that the music we hear throughout the game is emanating from V1 and that’s why it picks up in intensity in the middle of an encounter - it’s V1’s response to a threat - so it’d be funny if the alarms in the track are actually coming from the Earthmover and V1’s music is syncing up to it as essentially a taunt

So, for context, I imagine this the whole OST "war without reason" takes place during, well, a war, and we're listening/experiencing it through the point of view of a soldier during it. First of all, the beeping at 0:04, it sounds like the soldier is now fully aware of his situation, with bullets flying around him the thought of death terrifies him with every beat, so he runs and tries to escape as fast as he could, somehow he does manage to survive it, but still, the beeping continues indefinitely, because now, he realised he's always one millimetre of away from death (the bullets dancing around him) and that's terrifying, so he runs. At 0:43 we can hear the beeping is muffled, the thought of death is still there, but it's muffled and quietened down by an illusion of safety, where does this safety come from? 0:58, technological sounds, soulless noises, wires, electricity and steel, I think the man got inside some sort of machine that he can control, what makes me say this is, in the entire ultrakill OST, classical instruments and choirs you can hear during Minos prime's OST, or "Requiem", are a metaphor for humanity, or the human soul, whilst other mechanical sounds like the beeps that sound very electro-like, are a metaphor for machines and stuff like that. Obviously, the violent music continues throughout the entire piece, but here it's less chaotic. As if it's "hidden". So the soldier continues his quest in safety, until here "1:31" were you can here a beeping sound very similar to the one you hear during emergencies, specifically the ones you hear when a plane falls down, or an intruder comes in, or stuff like that, my take on this is that something injured/broke the machine he got in, and now he has no choice but to get out. I think he got out of it very slowly, for some reason tearing the parts of the machine with his bare hands, if you listen to this part on 1:19 it's done with the electronic sounds we talked about, But here , 1:48, the same part is repeated again, but with the piano in the background, the piano notes are in a crescendo, slowly revealing themselves as the song progresses, that's when the human reveals himself from behind the broken machine. And as man gets out of that shell of steel, he looks around him, seeing the bullets, the bombs, the technological advancements done in the name of violence, he realises how utterly helpless he is in this situation, how utterly absurd, tragic this situation is. 2:18, so he screams, he yells, with all the power he has in the vocal chords god gave him, you cannot convince me this part doesn't sound like a giant "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" as the person gets on his knees in shame and fear, but all that's around him straight up does NOT care, the war continues and him being aware of this suffering is NOT special. The screaming continues on and on, with only death being able to not silence it. That, was the downfall of humanity, a mistake that drages its doer down to the fiery pits of hell, this itself was hell. A WAR WITHOUT REASON.
If this thing was buffed it would be a sick final boss, i think hakita made the right call putting it here with the other machines but imagine you defeat Gabriel, leave and realize there's one stage left and it's your original target (the boss would have been much harder in this case tho)
2:13 has got to be my favorite part, it sorta just scratches that part of my brain in a distressing and urgently epic way. I love it, 10/10, would destroy an Earthmover again
fun fact, according to ultrakill lore, the earthmover was the last machine used in the war before the great peace, and in that time, all of the machines was being made to counter one another, guttermen countered trench warfare, guttertanks countered guttermmen and the earthmover countered everything. V1 was being made during the discovery of hell and the great peace, and was the last desinged machine of war, and since he was the last desinged machine of war, V1 WAS MADE TO COUNTER THIS THING.

But here , 1:48, the same part is repeated again, but with the piano in the background, the piano notes are in a crescendo, slowly revealing themselves as the song progresses, that's when the human reveals himself from behind the broken machine.
I feel kinda stupid for how intensely I overthinked this but ay I'm blaming it on the tism
FIRE 🔥🔥🔥✍️✍️✍️

Me when a tiny robot crawls into my brain and gives me a lobotomy:
"What you will do if we broke into your body?"
Me:
*INTRUDER DETECTED*
-----FLUSHING INTERRIOR-----
MODS, TAKE CARE OF THIS GUY
2:25 this is absolutely phenomenal, down right astonishing, entirely flabbergasting, nut-indulging, most edge-able guitar ive ever heard.
im saying like I am suprised not many acknowledge it
Me after the lobotomy? No, me DURING the lobotomy
If this thing was buffed it would be a sick final boss, i think hakita made the right call putting it here with the other machines but imagine you defeat Gabriel, leave and realize there's one stage left and it's your original target (the boss would have been much harder in this case tho)
War without reason mfs when they see peace with purpouse fans

Yeah just about sums up Ultrakill music
Truer words have never been spoken
2:13 has got to be my favorite part, it sorta just scratches that part of my brain in a distressing and urgently epic way. I love it, 10/10, would destroy an Earthmover again
Hakita reinventing the game so that people can't expect anything anymore.
covid vs my immune system (i took 2 vitamin gummies instead of 1 when i was 12)
I love sirens and alarms in music 🆘🆘🆘
fun fact, according to ultrakill lore, the earthmover was the last machine used in the war before the great peace, and in that time, all of the machines was being made to counter one another, guttermen countered trench warfare, guttertanks countered guttermmen and the earthmover countered everything. V1 was being made during the discovery of hell and the great peace, and was the last desinged machine of war, and since he was the last desinged machine of war, V1 WAS MADE TO COUNTER THIS THING.
V1’s other rival asides from V2 are the Earthmovers then?
Bro, V1 didn't even know about v2's existence until he showed up💀 (but yeah you are correct)
