The sides of this case are very uncomfortable and it’s too thick for me. I prefer the smoother feeling and thin build of the Pitaka Pro 4. Another great alternative is the Spigen Enzo Aramid.
The spike/star-shaped side grip surfaces of the Rebel Gen 5 are indeed pretty spiky, but I'm hoping I'll get used to it, especially since they provide all the grippiness I was hoping for. But an alternative might be the Caudabe Synthesis, which has little raised rounded nubs instead of spiky points.
I had the gen 4 for the 14 pro max and it was great but was lacking the extra grip on the sides and I also just received the phone rebel gen 5 case in the mail today and it’s even better now that it’s got the extra grip on the sides
I have to agree about the usb connector. My Caudabe cable just barely fits it and like you, I wish it was a little wider. Other than that, it's a fantastic case.
You know, when it came out my case came pretty quickly. I didn’t get it sent to me or anything. I bought it just like anyone else. And it came to me within a few days.

Just like the Gen 4 to the Gen 5 there is an Oleophobic coating. It minimizes fingerprints on the aramid fiber. The screen protector however does not sadly.
Just got the case in and it’s fantastic Slim enough, grippy enough (doesn’t feel sharp at all), feels extremely premium. Waiting on the caudabe synthesis to come in and currently switching between nomad horween leather and the gen5 but haven’t gone back to the leather yet.
@@Brians_tech the Horween version of the Nomad leather lineup fits well no issues, got it in Rustic brown but kind of wish I got the black to match the black titanium :/ Still gorgeous and highly recommend. Actually ended up going back to the leather once I realized how thick the Gen5 made the phone 😅
I just got one of these Rebel Gen 5 cases, and I was surprised that the aramid fiber back has a nice, slightly rubbery feel, but when you tap on it with your fingernail (as Brian does in this video), you find that it's still a hard surface, and presumably rugged since it's aramid. The raised bumpers at the four corners of the top (display) side of the case are nice for protecting the display if the phone face-plants on a hard flat surface, but I think they might be a little taller than is needed for this protection, and that being so high, they might snag a little inside your pants pocket. I'm thinking of using a nice sharp razor blade to shave mine down a little. I'd like to see Phone Rebel offer sets of buttons with a flat outside surface for people like me who aren't sure yet about the feel of pressing on the indented channel on the surface of most of the button sets they currently make. So far they have only one flat-outside button set for their Gen 3 and Gen 4 cases, which I guess aren't compatible with the Gen 5? Maybe the buttons could be designed to be reversible, so you can choose which surface side to press.
Sweet i just ordered mine yesterday from amazon for my 14pm. ( do not like the colors of 15pro series ) Can’t wait to get it finally. Been using Rebel since Gen 1 on the 11. Glad you are liking the case, as far as the buttons go, they aren’t interchangeable sadly. Waiting on them to make the other buttons colors with this one.
The fact phone rebek actually drop test them, (50 ft + or whatever tests to prove the product) won me over + they feel thin and simple enough for that type of protection 👍
I went with the frosted gen 5 and added the orange camera ring and buttons. No fingerprint issue at all. I had a pitaka that I really loved but the oils from my hands made it impossible to keep free of prints. I'm OCD when it comes to my phone's and I just can't handle prints. These cases are the best cases you can get.
I got the rebel GEN five for my iPhone 15 Pro Max and I’m shocked that there’s not more discussion about how heavy it is. Makes it feel like a brick. Yet I still love it 4 out of 5 stars for me. If they would make the grip on the sides softer and make the case a little less thick and slim up that weight it would be 5 stars for me. I also have the banks, armor pro and taking the rebel GEN five case off and putting on the Benks one feels like you just took off an uncomfortable pair of jeans and put on nice comfortable sweatpants 😆 to me the rebel GEN five seems more like a rugged case that a construction worker might want
@@paulferdinand4655 i’m a Case nut and enjoy trying out different cases and switch out between my leather cases of bullstrap contemporary and Andar Aspen as well as non-leather cases, so thus I don’t have a daily driver just yet per se. however prefer the new Benks case over the rebel GEN five hands-down.
Side note: I did recently ordered and put on the blue full components kit and really like it! so I’m digging the phone rebel and will not give it up! : )

Lol I was waiting on this question. It's such a tough one! I think I'm going to have to go with the Pitaka Pro. I think it feels better in the hand, and looks a lot sleeker, while still offering great protection and great MagSafe. But you really can't go wrong with either. If you like one, you'll like the other.
I would go Pitaka Pro all day. The Phone Rebel Gen 5 is much thicker and the sides feel like sandpaper. While it adds more grip, it is very uncomfortable.
I actually really like the gen 5. I didn’t think it was uncomfortable to hold at all. I actually think it’s WAY better than last year, but I still do prefer the Pitaka Pro over it.

Great case the charging port no issues i have anker usb cables n the original cable work perfectly for me for me best case out there n i am very picky recommend this case i have the spigen screen protector cant wait for the color buttons to be available
Plan on buying a spare case and screen protector. Purchased their Gen 5. Over a week still hasn’t shipped. After numerous emails keep getting gaslighted with the ole case is in the mail excuse. Problem is USPS didn’t receive it. Instead of shipping out a new one right away and recalling the one that supposedly was sent with insurance, they make excuses. Keep putting it off saying give USPS one more day. Finally on the third email agreed to resend it so would have to wait 4-5 days to get it due to now we have a weekend coming up. If they resent on second email I would have received before the weekend. They agreed to overnight if it wasn’t tracked then when it wasn’t they decided to just ship another normal shipping after previously saying they would next day it. Nothing but excuses doesn’t matter how good the case is if you have to buy another one and another screen protector while waiting for them to ship the one already bought and paid for. Run from this company. The good reviews are probably friends and family. Seems like a scam we will see if u get my refund or if I’m going to have to dispute it.
Disagree they admitted in the emails that it wasn’t sent when they printed the label even though in the first email they said it was shipped. They also stated they would reship then backpedaled on that. Just a bunch of excuses. First said would next day it then waited then said would normal ship. I mean maybe an offer of buttons or something for the waiting and gaslighting especially after over 3 emails. But nope nothing. Just keep waiting after over a week of not being given to USPS. Your saying yours didn’t show up in tracking then did a day before it showed up? How do you know it was shipped after 3 days? Tracking caught up? Regardless after all the problems offer some buttons or something if you’re not going to re ship after a week. Phone needs protection I’m leaving that’s why I have been on top of them with emails. But they just keep the compline of it’s in the mail. I would have recalled it and sent another at first trouble. Especially if it shows not sent. Idk how you ship something without it getting scanned in. There is no proof to even make the insurance claim. Just poor service. Can’t imagine if something goes wrong with it what you would have to do

Well I have the emails to prove it all. Happy to share. I don’t know what others experience has been I can only speak of what I experienced with this company and make others aware. It may be a great case as I don’t know due to all the issues. If someone is wanting to get a case and screen protector quick after buying a phone this has been my experience. I would have been ok if I got different responses other than it’s in the mail but not able to track or a replacement sent next day after having waited over a week with still no tracking available.

yea that bottom of the case looks gross but the rest of the phone looks NICE! I wish it had that ESR or Torras level magsage strength though.
The MagSafe is really good on it, actually. Pretty much the same as the gen 4.

Yeah they definitely need to increase the size of that USB-C cutout.
Use an Xacto hobby knife to widen the sides of the USB-C cutout.
