- Learn how to multiply two 2-digit numbers in your head in a matter of a few seconds without a calculator. This short film is not meant to teach you in detail on how to do this. The video was made as my first project to make a short film and present to the viewers that it is possible to accomplish this seemingly impossible feat. Math is not about simple calculations like this. I think you're missing the point here to be honest. Being a math genius isn't about working with bigger numbers, it's about being able to apply concepts.

Mathematics is 99% more than just multiplication. Actually being able to multiply two 2-digit numbers in your head wont do absolutely a single thing for you past algebra (I'm being generous). This is why calculators are allowed during math exams, because the arithmetic is the least of your concerns.

The method he is using is referred to as the Trachtenberg system, although he explains it nicer than the wiki page does. This method extends really nicely for all products of two numbers. Good to see more people using it :)

I started doing similar number tricks recently on my own. I don’t do a quite as well as he does.
Two suggestions:
One. Get directly to the point and skip the music;
Two. Watch the language. If this is supposed to be educational we don’t need to be encouraging the students to use foul language.
David Lucey the music makes the video notably more interesting and keeps your attention. And there is nothing wrong with cursing, I personally don't curse but I don't think it is a problem. Cursing is used very often in today's language and in my opinion it has started to lose is effectivness but when used in right situations it can be a useful tool in getting your message across
childrens calculus level. sure if you get good at this when you are a kid you lay the ground to perhaps have a chance of doing alot more advanced stuff later. but your title is definitely genius xD
In algebra 1,,the general method for factoring binomials is called FOIL (first, outer, inner, last), Most people learn about it and move on without considering how to use it.
I can't even remember the steps to do this. Generally speaking, most people who struggle with math also struggle with short term memory and or working memory, both of which are needed to use this technique.

You can read a book and say you’ve read it but have you really understood it, same concept here you know what to do but only how they’ve taught you if you can’t interpret it in a different way or explain to someone else you haven’t understood it

It's not about your parents, it is about yourself, "study yourself" at math as you say, it is up to yourself to get better grades not up to your parents. You are the one that is supposed to put in the effort, so go for it, if you really wish to become better at math and earn better grades you are fully capable, you just gotta take charge of your own education, go study.
