I went into my local guitar shop recently and played the AG 700 through Aguilar cabs (light cabs), it is a BEAUTIFUL sounding amp, much better in my opinion than the Tone Hammer and THE best sounding bass amp I ever heard. However, I was using a Fender Jazz bass (4-string, passive) with no pedals plugged into the AG 700 and I noticed it cut-out frequently. All the videos I had seen on TH-cam didn’t seem to do that. Any idea why it was cutting out when the gain knob was at 11:00 and every demonstration video I have watched on it is at or higher than 11 but I didn’t notice it cutting out. This is the only thing keeping me from purchasing it. If you know why and how it can be prevented let me know. The only thing I wasn’t aware of was whether I had the active or passive switch on, but I was playing through a passive bass. Thanks!
It is a bad unit. They are usually reliable. You would be okay buying one also long the seller has a no questions asked return policy which Sweetwater does.
Is the AG700 similar to the MESA Carbine series ?

This is a brilliant video. The Andertons one with Dave B is absolutely atrocious - the one where they (Andertons) just review the SL cabs is frankly an insult.
Why you didn't play those let us hear....
Are either of this effectively a DB751 in a smaller box? I love mine, but it isn't the most convenient to move around.
The closest is definitely the Tone Hammer 700. Someone on Talkbass made that switch and said that the TH was 90% there with the DB751.
I need something with headphones jack, I can only play with headphones due to noise. Do any of these amps have?

Even though there isn’t any dedicated headphone amp on these models, they do come with both effects loop capabilities and have tuner outputs. These outputs can be utilized for headphones, provided we really consider the overall signal output and if we need to reduce or boost based on the headphones you are wanting to use. If you aren’t using either of these outputs, we do have a solution tailor made to your project. Please give us a call to go over the options based on your particular gear!

KORG is one of my favorite brands and I learned about the acquiring Aguilar! I think Aguilar is a great company but KORG will log make it better !!! Awesome products
i have both the 112 and 212 cabs and i’m running them through a th500 but it’s not getting enough thump for me should i change my cab or my head in your opinion? i want to shake the ground. don’t get me wrong it sounds amazing but looking for something more ground shaking

This is a surprise! I thought Aguilar went out of business, after they were bought out? They haven't offered the db751 in quite some time as well, and also dropped the db4x12 cab.
