    very nice reno. how long did your renovations take. was it longer or shorter than you expected. would you mind giving an indication of cost. i am thinking of buying an apartment in Tokyo and am inclined to buy either new or renovated apartment as i'm not sure of the whole reno process and cost. i also don't speak Japanese

    Hey brother,
    My wife is also Japanese but we live in the US. The plan is to eventually migrate to JPN near the in laws. Your videos are definitely informative. We will be there soon

    The Nitori experience sounds like the Home Depot kind of deal

      Oh yeah? I can imagine, more of a cookie cutter experience.

    Nice project, Barrett! Your wife's handiwork looks terrific! Could you share the price breakdowns?

      Thanks! Yes, she’s way better than me with all of that haha.
      Sorry, I don’t have/know the actual breakdown of everything. The total we spent for renovations was around ¥3.5 million, I believe. The furniture and appliances were extra and totaled to a few thousand USD…

      @@barrettish wow - that's a lot of work done for the money spent, as kitchens and baths are usually the biggest costs to renovate. Very nice - love it! Great work, (and I like the natural wood doors to the bedrooms and toilet room). Marc - from Georgia USA

    Nice, guys! Only thing...maybe you could exchange or paint the old ugly fire detectors or what they are on the ceiling of the kitchen/living area. They really spoil the overall impression of the renovation. Small things do count sometimes 🙂

      Thanks! I totally agree, I wanted to but we have to check what the building’s rules are about that first…

    Are you moving back to Japan?

    • @barrettish
      @barrettish  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not out of the question but ideally it would be back and forth as much as we can…

    nobody asked Howmochi the renovation cost?

    • @barrettish
      @barrettish  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t know if anyone asked here but I think it was a little less than USD $30k. The kitchen was ¥1,090,000 including labor and tax.

    ~$180/night ... is it U.S. dollars? would you accept, say, a 10 day stay?

    • @barrettish
      @barrettish  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, USD. Possibly! You can inquire at www.omakasetravels.com/stay !
