    My grandfather Keith Middleton would have been working on the HMS FITZROY at this time.

    A hard life, but a free life. It's good to know that the Falklanders have been able to diversify their economy in recent years. The future looks promising.

      Yeah... Diversified by the use of battle ships, submarines and missiles to exploit surrounding waters. How noble.

    • @zappertxt
      @zappertxt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greedycapitalist8590 you seized by force (submarines, battle ships, missiles, aircrafts) those surrounding waters you now exploit. You created unilaterally the "Exclusive economic zone" against Argentina and against the UN, only because you have the force. Spare me the fake epic, please.

      @@zappertxt Is that what they're telling you in Argentine schools? You'll start to grow up when you realise that your teachers are paid liars, whose job is to programme the next generation of cannon fodder. The Falkland Islands has never seized anything by force - it's a joke to think they'd be able to. The Falklands has an internationally-recognised Exclusive Economic Zone around its land, just as Argentina has its own a bit to the West. This is normal. This is legal. This is moral. All or most countries with a coastline have an EEZ. The people of the Falklands have the right to exploit the resources of their EEZ, just as the people of Argentina have the right to exploit theirs. You stick to what's yours and leave your neighbours in peace. Imperialism doesn't pay.

      @@jonathonblackmon2763 that will be for the islanders to decide. I believe they have already spoken in recent referenda.

    I went to the Boxing Day Horse racing in 1985 - exactly the same as in this film - the film was made 30 years earlier. So much room to expand - really should push immigration there as that land is wasted on sheep.

      The Falklands economy is booming and incomes are much higher than the UK, thus the population is growing fast. The racecourse is now bordered by houses and you can see the Christmas races on the FITV (the local TV news) TH-cam channel.
