- Today I am going remove some old fence posts from the pasture. I will going to us the TYM T654 to do the majority of the work. I also finally won a manure spreader at auction. And I am going to pick it up today. I hope it is worth what I paid for it.

Two minutes in and I'm reminded that I keep wanting to suggest to you that there's no shame in wearing a pair of lightweight leather gloves especially when doing this type work. You won't regret it.

That new tractor is certainly saving you some manual labour and backache. Even the Steers are impressed.
If your tractor has a 3rd function valve, get a Tree Puller. You will not need a chain and will not have to get out of your tractor to pull posts. You will think, " How did I ever get along without it ? " I enjoy your video's.
Tips from a fork truck driver
When you need to move the forks.
Flip the clip
Push or pull the bottom first, then slide the top over till the clip catches where you want it and get those forks up higher. Hip height or so.
Less danger of hurting your back because you're stopped over or your foot slips.

Evan, the manure spreader looks pretty good and the cows are growing. You have the farm running smoothly and I want to see the new barn when you get everything moved in and set up. That will save you a ton of time.

JudithB My ex drug an old manure spreader home one day, paid $50 for it. He worked on it for a few days and got it working. LOL Craziest thing I had ever seen, but it threw chicken manure 8' in the air and did a great job!!!
That was a good sign to see all the parts moving by hand.
The new tractor is certainly showing how useful and versatile it is and how you might have been holding off some things because of equipment issues. Also, I love how it looks - just a proper red tractor!

I wondered that too. They were startled at the power of the tractor at one point - curious fellas! They look in fine fettle.

Good show, I like your hay feeder, easy to move and reduce wasted hay by the cattle. I know you are busy all the time, there is always something that needs to be done on a farm and the livestock always seem to get into the middle of all you plan to do. Every farmer I ever knew was a patient person, they lived a life that not everything can be done at once, you just do what you can passing by on to the next chore. Your manure spreader looks like it is in decent shape and can be used for many years to come because you can repair it yourself and even make some of the parts yourself. The floorboards you can replace and fit yourself, the mechanical parts can be salvaged from other equipment, doesn't have to be spreader parts. Both of my grandfathers were farmers, and I learned many things can be remade to use for other purposes than the original intent. Good luck with your farm and reach for what you want the most.

I always coated the wood floor of manure spreader with used engine oil if it was to sit for awhile.
Make sure wood floor is wet down before loading it with pen manure.
The apron slides a lot easier across a wet wood floor vs a dry wood floor.

Funny how with farming, there is always one more thing to do or get done! Full circle for the barnyard manure. Spread it on the hay field to feed the grasses that will in turn become feed for your animals that will create the nutrients to once again feed the hay field. Nice job with the new tractor. Makes chores easier! Steers are looking good. Good luck with the spreader. Looks like good bones to it. Thanks again for sharing you day.

All the empty post holes are perfect leg breakers for the steers!
I just did the same exact thing - removed an old corner post. I had to do it by hand though. I really need a tractor for the 'grunt' work 😉

Looks like it's useable, at least all the gearing works, didn't see the bed chain move. Good deal for 450.00$
It appeared the bed chain would move. About 1/8 inch per revolution. I will really find out when I hook it up to a tractor.

friend and his dad bought a new holland 570 baler and two 9x20 kicker wagons thru an online auction bout a month ago.5 grand,baler had less than 8,000 thru it,they did their 1st cut friday and baled it yesterday,they counted 825 after stacking in barn,another 73 acres to go now
manure spreader looks like it just needs all the chains oiled and find all the grease fittings. Tip on loading it, we always(when possible) load from one side and it is always the side opposite the driveshaft. That way there is no chance of us drifting into or bumping, bending, the driveshaft with the tractor. just a precaution to avoid us making a stupid mistake.

Get a mop and 5 gal bucket take your used motor oil and just a little diesel to thin and whether you replace the wood or not mop the wood down with the oil and place in the shed get a masonry brush and lube chains and exposed metal

Compared to what manure spreaders are going for here in Georgia you got a great deal! Looks like only minor fixes and very cool you got a PTO driven one.
Thanks for making these videos. I see you have a new fan club. You steers enjoyed watching you pulling up those fence posts. I also noticed that the feeding chain wasn't moving on your new manuer spreader. I hope you don't need to do much to get it working, but I'm looking forward to your next video.
The apron (feeder chain as you call it) doesn't move very fast in the first place. I see the adjusting lever for controlling it's feed rate is missing. Not a deal breaker.

When you pull old fence post, fill the hole up with dirt, You could have a steer with a broken leg if they step in a hole

Even, take some metal plates and put on the wooden floor to make removal manure much easier , maybe line the sides as well
I hope your steers don't put a leg down one you're old post holes. My grandfather always made us backfill ours, he said you would never forgive yourself if some of the stock broke a leg. Its something I still do no matter where they are just in case something small falls in and can't get out.
Yes, you are right, I need to go fill the post holes.
When you have some time pop the chains off the spreader and put into a container of oil so they are soaking in it till you are ready to go over everything as you will most likely need to pull them off anyways to work on it. Don't even need to use new oil as used oil will work fine as long as it is not milkshaked yet.

Those old locust fence posts look like they still have some years in them, Evan. They're not pretty, but the fence doesn't care. You need to invest in a pair of leather gloves, son! Farm is looking great!
Manure spreader looks promising. Being able to turn it by hand is a really good sign. Lube that rascal up and let 'er fly!🤪
The spreader looks better than most I have seen. Usually all the sides are rusting out. At least with wood things can be replaced. Now you have a good use for your old motor oil. Seems the under supports may need work but still a good deal. Pretty soon you will need a nephew to start helping you soon. It is nice to have two steers to help you figure out the cattle setup. They are doing their part well and follow you. Hopefully you can get a cow to start working to lead the rest when you move them. Soon you will be ready to get a few. Have fun! Things look great. A good working tractor really helps.

I one like that, be mindful when you pull it. I use my Polaris Ranger 1000xp to pull it. if you move to fast it will sling "stuff" up in your direction.

Lol, pickup the hay feeder with the forks, no need to get off the tractor. As far as the gates between pastures, swing them open towards each other and latch them together with a rope or chain to cover the space. They’ll move to greener pastures.
I pull up old fence posts basically the same way, but I use a 4 ft. strap rather than chain. It works the same way and makes it easy work. It's amazing just how versatile a tractor can be.
You need a longer chain.....lol!

one thing when clearing keep you rock timber metal separate that way you get more money and easier to load and take away.

Love the new tractor Evan. Just wanted to offer a piece of caution, make sure when pulling fence posts that you don't have any postholes in your pasture. If a cow were step in a posthole it could break a leg. I'm sure you have already thought of this.
That is a good point. I need to fill the holes.
Good trick i found to pull wood posts without the chain slipping up them, a lag bolt small enough to fit through a chain link and an impact driver.
One thing I see on the manure spreader right away is the chain tensioner on the rear most chain. A little TLC and it should work fine. Might be able to find a local saw mill to get some rough cut lumber instead of going to the big box store as well.
We have a sawmill just a few miles away. I was hoping to take some trees there someday to have milled. But I haven't saved any saw logs yet.
@@CountryViewAcres some of your trees you have cut down have been massive and would be hard to haul too. But maybe they have some already sawn lumber.

When cattle graze you should top the field after to freshen the grass up
Congrats for the new tractor; suggestion, when you lift with the FEL/fork pallet attachment, try to chain in between the fork, it will equalized the load between FEL cylinder. Cheers. ;-)
The other day you mentioned about have issues with flies. In Australia we had a program for farmers to buy Dung Beetles and it helped get rid flies a lot over the years. Don't know if they would survive over your winters

Make sure you put some old oil or some marbles mystery oil or WD-40 on your driveway before you start up your spread up they look like they're a little bit Rusty they need a little bit of lubrication you don't you run into problems down the road I do it while it's setting it gets a chance to work it way into all the joints on your drive wheels and stuff like that save you a lot of headaches

I plan on having a video of moving into the new shop area. But I haven't got around to it yet. Been to busy with all the livestock and garden.
So as I learned from my grandma as she did cattle yell caboss. Or like just a few acres can say come on cows. And if you really need to and we were near you can borrow my brother who you can hear kilometers away
