I was in high school and I begged my dad may god bless his soul to buy me PS3, but he says not even in your dreams and then after many tries he says yes and I jumped from excitement then when he drives me to the store I asked him to come with me personally to buy it for me , I want to have that feeling, he saw that child joy in my eyes and he laughed and says are you going to get it or we forget about it I said yeah sure give me couple of minutes. Man I miss the old PS3 days. A lot of great times with friends staying up til 3-4am playing BO1 zombies. Or going at it solo playing GoW or Uncharted. Only thing I didn’t like was they didn’t make them all backwards compatible. Now all these years later I’m on PS5. But I definitely would go back and relive these days if I could.

My best friend ended up getting a PS3 very early on after its release. He was pretty well off because his parents made good money. He was also the first person I knew to have a flat screen tv, which I believe at that time a 32 inch tv was around a $1000, so pretty expensive for the mid-2000s. We were both 22 at the time of the PS3's release so of course we had to get one. Anyways, I remember seeing it for the first time and was blown away. The clarity and quality of the picture was outstanding, the graphics were out of this world, and it played blu rays. Unfortunately, I had to wait until my birthday in August the next year (2007) to gather up enough money to get my own. At last, it happened, my very own PS3 (which I still own to this day). I still remember getting it out of the box and setting it up. The funniest part though, I tried to plug it into my old box tv. I plugged it in and couldn't figure out why the quality was so bad. I noticed this cord, which was called an HDMI, and I had no idea what it was or how you use it. I had to call my friend. Once he told me what an HDMI was, I had to convince my dad that I needed to get a flat screen tv in order to play my PS3. Anyways....It's funny how technology can help bring back all those amazing memories like the first time seeing and playing a PS3, and afterwards purchasing a PS3 and my first flat screen tv (which was a 26 inch btw). If anyone who reads this comment has a PS3 story, comment below, would love to read it!! Thanks for the video!!

I bought this in 2007 with a new LG 37 inch 1080p tv. The console was the most premium built PS they ever made!. I'll never forget it.
Definitely truly premium. Nothing less. The Xbox even tho had a superior UI. It didn’t compare to the PS build quality and craftsmanship. The thing had so many ports and readers on it. It was crazy. Totally overkill.

What a console! I don't know how many hours I spent on this console playing: Uncharted 2 & 3, LBP 2, R&C: A crack in time, COD Black Ops Zombies, Batman: Arkham city and many other games. Such incredible memories I will never forget. :)

Yeah dude, that's because games rarely fully installed to the harddrive and games in general were also a lot smaller than todays games mainly due to sexture sizes. 80% of what you stored on a ps3/x360 harddrive were just save files.

Remember like it was yesterday, just started my first full time job at a big company. They made us work 11 straight days, 12 hour shifts, during the month of December. My paycheck came out to around $1000. The PS3 had just been released and I couldn’t wait no more. A family member worked at Costco and told me that some guy had just returned an unopened PS3 bundle, came with an extra controller, a game, and a Blue Ray movie, all for the price of $700! I was only 19 at the time, didn’t give a crap how expensive or ridiculous it was to buy a console for that price, I had to get a PS3. I’ll admit, the launch library wasn’t very good, and I spent most of the first year of owning the console playing my PS2 games and watching Blue Ray movies, but once they started releasing some good titles for it like COD:MW, GTA4, MGS4, KillZone 2, it slowly started to make me not regret buying it for such a high price.

We all know that the original 60GB PS3 was $599.99 in 2006. Yes it was expensive, but in my opinion it was well worth it. Why? First of all, the PS3 then, and even today, is still one of the best blu ray players on the market, in an era where equilivalent players were well over $1000. Second, it's a multi-media lovers' dream, with advanced CD-ripping abilities and vast format support (Compact FLASH, SD Card, CF Card, etc.) Third, it had a full PS1 and PS2 built inside. In addition, before certain updates, you could install Linux on it and use it like a true desktop computer! Lastly, it was the most future proof console in its day and even now, and had features that the Xbox 360 would nickel and dime you for, such as Wifi, Blu-Ray, a non-proprietary user replaceable hard drive, and rechargeable controllers.
I got a second hand 160 GB PS3 slim
But the original ps3 had lots of hardware problems which would cause it to break. Super slim is the best along with the slim

The MOST beautiful system ever created. It felt like a REAL entertainment system (PS one, PS2, PS3, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, image and video viewer over Cards, etc.). I didn't use mine to navigate Internet but i guess it was also o.k.
A shame... a REAL SHAME the YLoD... if not, I'm sure this would be the BEST system ever created and maybe even surpasses the PS2. I still have my two PLAYSTATION 3 60GB CECHA01, waiting to be reliable to be fixed.

Back in 2007 when all my very young friends got the Xbox 360 and convinced their dads to pay for Xbox Live until eventually their dads became Xbox 360 gamers too.
At the same time, I was the kid who literally jumped up and down and begged for a entire year from the press conference reveal to the launch in March 2007 to get the PLAYSTATION 3 even though it was a whopping 600$! I eventually got it, and we had just got a FlatScreen TV with real HD! I could play exclusives like Ratchet and Clank Tools Of Destruction in HD on our flatscreen in 2007! That felt unreal! Never been more proud of something I own, that PS3 is my love. It might have been really expensive and we had just bought a new HD TV at the time, but that money must have been the most well spent money i know about.

My ps3 fat just had its 3rd massive hard disk failure. I bought it brand new in 2008 and have kept it running since then. After the 3rd time and overheating issues I have finally decided to move on to a slim. Still is one of the best looking playstations to date

I got my PS3 on a Christmas day. As of where I live now, it's Christmas time and I'm watching this for the nostalgia. I remember me and my brother waking up one day and seeing all of the gifts under the christmas tree. Of course, as the impatient children we were, we decided to go for the biggest present. There it was, the PS3. Hell, I still have it to this day, it's rusty but still works just fine.
i remember before i start my show i also had a original ps3 intro where when you load a game it made a pleasant little sound when game is loaded who else misses that

the hours i poured into PS3....this console is my favorite. i had the 60GB fat version. it lasted me for 4 yrs. when it crashed i bought the 120gb slim model. i love it too. i remember fondly playing ps3 for hrs and what i remember most was playing it on Thanksgiving Day all day long right up until it was time to eat that evening. so many fond memories for me with this generation of gaming. i still remember the day i bought my 60gb ps3. i went to EB games and said i wanted a ps3. the guys walked to the back of the store and, i swear this, came about singing and dancing that i was buying their last console that they had in stock. made me happy i was able to get one (remember when stores actually had what you wanted to buy, unlike nowadays). the total price, plus i bought ninja gaiden sigma came to: $690 +-. i whipped out my credit card and bought it. mind you i was only 26 at that time and i didn't realize i was overpaying lol

Man I remember watching this 2 years ago and actually getting a PS3 this year just to catch up with old games. Although it’s not the BC one but still a FAT one.
There is something very special about 7th gen consoles (PS3 in particular with its CELL) that makes them stand apart from every other console or console generation. The sheer leap in grahical fidelity and in-game interactivity even in the lauch titles compared to the 6th gen and that air of anticipation for proper "next gen" titles utilising the power of CELL and Xenon are the things that will forever have a place in my heart.
The PS4 and XB1 with their PC-like architecture in my opinion surely dropped this magical flair of the 7th gen machines which had fully custom, not elswhere seen hardware... I know it's quite unlikely to happen, but I really want to see the return of such custom hardware with the 9th gen. Or at least for PS5/next Xbox to position themselves not as "PC-like architecture based" and more as something you can't get anywhere else. I think that the strong architectural difference between a PS3 and a PC at the time (and now) is what makes me want to buy a console.

I worked 1 month during my summer break in high school to buy this console, I was one of the few people to own a ps3 in my school I felt awesome.
Probably because they all owned an Xbox 360.
I bought my ps3 in 2013 a year before the ps4 realesed but honestly i don't have a problem know i have like 27 disks for my ps3 all in good condition

This video brings so many memories. I buy this beauty in 2006, a Japanese region version. Played a lot of games, always take care, removing dust, replacing thermal compound. She tragicaly died in 2015 right when I playing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. GPU got burned. Still thinking of her like a most estethicaly console in the world.

Lol those fans. I just took my launch ps3 apart and removed the heat spreaders to replace the thermal paste. My console is super quiet now.

@@danahgarrido-calleja8115 I sold ours too.... Tried to hack em to play games on cause the plastic disk cap was broken and it had to be closed in a specific way to make it work...... Had it since childhood but seriously it was in a bad shape.....

The PS3 will always be remembered as an Iconic one even 10 - 20 years from now as it was the first ever playstation that had online multiplayer capability and high definition graphics! [ oh and built in memory also compared to its predecessor the ps2 which you had to use memory sticks for lol ]

Ps2 literally has a lan connector lol, it has multiplayer, but just not with official sony servers
