Nice tutorial dude, I didn't even know this item existed. Obviously 50 contribution points is too high a fee for an established player, but someone new trying to make their lot it's definately worth. They could always just use this tool to get like a mill in silver and then buy a magic tool to increase profit too.
Also you can rent multiple tools just rent it from your other characters that is if you have a enough contribution, but as a beginner don't invest too much on a nodes that you won't be using

Depending on what you gather, yes. In this video it would have broken even. When I gather on my main I net ~2 mil silver per minute so it is very profitable
Theres a whole load of gathering quests in Olvia that will level you up to relatively quick levels and are repeatable. This exp tailors off quickly though. After that the absolute fast way to level gathering is to use a Magical hoe on "Wild Herb" plants with a hedgehog pet (pet optional - just makes it even faster). There will be a load of gathering quests in your quest log under "suggested" Advancement Gathering - these reward a various amount of each level and the combination of the two will level you quickly to Artisan. At Artisan it gets slow no matter what until Master and after that its just painful to level. If you just want to grind it out stack as many buffs as you can grab the best hoe's you have and head to Behr and gather the herb rotation (there is another herb rotation just outside Trent next to the river at the east entrance that no one ever contests).
Also just to add, you can actually repair the life gear at any npc as regular gear you don't have to return it and pick new one every time. But of course if you want to save silver you can do so.
